Is it realistic we ever get a Linux notebook as good as a MacBook, perhaps being a successor of SteamDeck? As much as I hate Apple, their hardware and integration into the OS (for example sleep-mode in MacOS) is the best on the market.

It's possible, but we don't deserve it. Abuse it is.

you could do similar construction, but the real issue is spending the time to write the drivers and fix the OS. So if you picked one chipset, and only supported that, and constantly worked to improve all the little issues with it, then I think it could work. But that would take a lot of money, and one big draw of linux is the wide hardware support, so who really would be the audience?

I got MacBook Pro with M4 chip at work and it takes 30 seconds for it to boot. My 8 year old Linux laptop takes 3 seconds.

Apple pushes new updates like every other week which require rebooting.

You can convert most high end laptops to linux if you're willing to do research and use a more up to date distro like a rolling release. I don't understand the point of these threads when a linux laptop can still do more than a mac
