Anyone have any suggestions for shielded iem cables? I have a cheap pair of Chu's I'm trying to use with my ham radio. When I transmit they're picking up some of the rf and I can hear myself when I talk. It's not bad so I think shielded cables should probably solve the issue, but if not I can try clamping a ferrite on there too. you're mostly right about inflated marketing specs, though, but if you think the 23.5ohm or 28.3ohm you’re reading on a multimeter tells the whole story of how an IEM loads an amp or responds across frequency, you're only seeing the resistive snapshot at 0 Hz, not the real impedance behavior under signal. look at phase and impedance sqings on hybrid or multi-ba sets where normal impedance isn't remotely flat and crossovers fuck everything up. I would say some impedance peaks are intended to compensate for bad tuning.

Dry stamen aroma presents with delicate, sweet rose florals in clear display. What I identify as a pollen quality is plainly discernible...and for some reason, it reminds me a tad of butter. It's a 'thick' aroma without being offensively pungent. Wet stamen aroma ramps up a surprising savoriness, between that buttery pollen note and something a touch more herbaceous.

Medium thickness, medium-high astringency, little to no bitterness.

The expected rose notes come through nicely both on the palate as well as in the retronasal aroma, lingering well. I was unsure if any potentially delicate qualities would be squashed if I infused at too high of a temperature or infused for too long. I was surprised to discover after experimenting with infusing around 200-205F for over a minute that an appealing, somewhat...'musky' scent arose from the wet stamens, and the sweet floral aroma was boosted. Still no real bitterness, but the astringency is notable, and does linger in the back of my throat a bit.

In spite of that, I found the session to be thoroughly enjoyable. It developed in aroma quite well infusion by infusion, and had decent endurance overall. If I was to do this again, I'd add more grams of stamens and push the infusions a little harder from the beginning.

Been struggling to find a decent 4.4mm MMCX cable, and then some ordinary Tripowin Zonie is $10 for Prime Day. I just wanted something silver-plated and at least 6N to replicate some of the specs of a cable I really liked, but part of me thinks "it's the inexpensive one everyone and their mom gets", so idk what to think anymore.

I've got a pair of unknown IEMs, they do not sound that great, but damn that resin shell is comfy. Shame, but one day I'll unearth a hidden gem.

If you're only the market for budget chinkshit cables then you can safely ignore claims of "being silver-plated" or "6N". All those Aliexpress cables sound the same because they come from the same OEM factory in Shenzhen. They may be genuine 6N copper/silver initially but after going through the annealing process they pretty much lose all their purity.

Genuine 6N/7N cables are expensive af and only a few cable companies bother to factcheck the foundaries they're sourcing from. Some aftermarket cable manufacturers try to keep costs down by sourcing from Neotech but what you end up with is a subset of midrange cables that also "sounds the same" (looking at you PWAudio).

TLDR if you don't have the budget you can ignore sound. If you want to experiment with cables that "may" sound different there's some brands I really like: Nightjar Acoustics, Flash Acoustics (pretty much every HK cable manufacturer sources from FA), Vortex Cables, Rolling Force, Astral Acoustics.

Bought those INFiter IE45 Pro tips from Aliexpress. Got both the clears and blacks.

Some quick notes:
- Performs similarly enough to the Spiral Dot Pro FX-12. A successful cheaper clone in my books.
- No sonic differences between the clear and black. But there are textural differences: the black is smoother (like a Baroque tip), the clear is more grippy.
- With wide-bores you naturally lose some bass presence, but the INfiter's not as bad as the Divinus Prisms.
- Low-end warmth in descending order: Nostalgia XWB > INfiter IE45 Pro >= Spiral Dot FX12 > Divinus Prisms

I can recommend the INfiter IE45 Pros.

The decorative hardware parts (plug, splitter, etc.) are unnecessarily heavy, so it'll probably feel burdensome if you're actively moving around a lot.
Moondrop Line T is fine if you exclusively use 4.4mm. Cable will be lighter, but more "wirey," and kink-prone than the Faaeal.
Slider is useless and annoying for both.

oh and i don't mean to shill for them, but faaeaul unbounded is a decent budget pos. if you like a fun balanced v-shape, it's solid. comes with the nice cable above, $15 prime price

The OG Softears UC are still the only ones worth buying. The cheaper clones (FiiO HS20 and EPZ M100) have incredibly flimsy outer caps to the detriment of fit and seal.

Also the RoseTechnics Soundcocoon just kinda exists I guess. I got a box of em for free during Canjam - their build is fine, on par with the Softears UC but I have no strong opinions about them.
