I thought windows on arm would kill apple's laptop monopoly, but it turned out to be shit...

I was thinking of getting a ultra portable laptop then remembered I'm not a bitch and can carry a workstation laptop without noticing.
I don't get these slim laptops they are just as fragile but with worse perforamnce.

because microsoft isnt forcing developers to transition to arm like apple, so no one really has a reason to use it over x86
a cold start like that is destined to fail

Valve is currently working harder on this x86 to ARM translator thing than Microsoft itself.
Too many jeets in the latter.

if ones has money - it's the best option. the drawback is time-limited support of OS
otherwise it's almost all the same - few non-shit tier laptops, all the rest (acer, gigabyte, etc) is trash
hopefully amd will improve ryzen max+ 395, so that it has more memory and bandwidth, having local non-shit tier llm running is essential in future

The only interesting thing from that company are the iPads and as far I've heard the last ones sucks.

Obviously not that much compared to Android tablets, tough.

It's less that the most recent ipads suck and more that the last 5+ years of ipad pros are all still pretty excellent. I bought a 2018 13" ipad pro 512gb for $400 refurbished back in 2022 and it still lasts all day while running at a rock-solid 120hz on everything. Great machine for Youtube/doodling/plex that I also use for editing photos on plane rides. I have zero reason to upgrade despite this thing being 7 years old at this point. A 13" 2025 512 ipad pro is $1499. Yeah, you get a nice OLED screen and additional future-proofing but there's no incentive to upgrade unless you're a power user, and if you're a power user just buy a MBP wtf.

Thinkpads and Macbooks are pretty much neck and neck but one is better than the other for two things:
Macbook is the absolute champion in battery life, nothing compares.
Thinkpads have the best keyboards period. A thinkpad keyboards shit all over any macbook keyboard, it's not even funny anymore.

This
Temporarily used a 2022 MBP and it sucked, hated the aluminum feeling, trying to do anything on it was tedious and overly complicated and it vibrated when charging because retarded Apple didn't ground it properly.
Even the worst Thinkpad I've ever used (probably some shitty E-series model) stomps the MBP in terms of usability.

Thinkpad if you're an engineer, Mac if you're not
I unironically have a Mac Studio at home but take a Thinkpad to work because a Macbook can't run the programs I need.

same reason UWP, Windows Mobile, and many other things failed:
- microsoft introduces something and then expects everyone around to adopt and to switch while putting zero effort and giving zero fucks from their end

Reason to upgrade is continued support. Especially with the major shift occurring with iPadOS 26. I had a 2018 11” but after the reveal at WWDC this year decided it was time to put my 7 year old 11” to pasture. Luckily I found an 12.9” M2 for $550. It came with an authentic Magic Keyboard and box of unused paperlike screen protectors too. I was able to flip my 11” for $350 so the difference pretty much just paid for the MKB.
