I should've explained myself better
A few years ago, Windows made it really clear that having a password was entirely optional, nowadays you need to jump hoops to have a local account, and even then Windows is gonna insist on you having a password.
Similarly, a few years ago, you could easily have an Android phone with no password and automatic permissions. Nowadays like half your apps don't work if you don't have a lockscreen

My point is that if feds are gonna let themselves in through the back, they might as well give you the option to leave the front unlocked so you can avoid fiddling with keys everytime

What do you think two factor authentication or recovery email to a service that requires a phone number is? They just sim swap ur phone number and recover your account password if they ever need to get in. SMS two factor was never about spam.

there's so much of this behind the scenes you're blissfully unaware of on the microsoft side. All the security components have backdoors.

I actually do worry when Linus retires though
