Again, the point /g/ always misses with these shit threads is that NO ONE IS GOING TO ARREST YOU BASED ON THE SOLE PURPOSE OF A COP TELLING YOU TO UNLOCK THE DEVICE SO HE CAN LOOK THROUGH IT. For anything like obstruction of justice or destruction of evidence there has to be a LAWFUL reason to do so. This is the way law enforcement works: they first find a suspect (any poor guy they feel could look guilty enough in court) through any means, THEN they look for any evidence to build a convincing case against him.
They'll repeat this process the amount of times proportional to the amount of reported crimes, to keep getting paid and keep getting promotions. The goal is not to solve crime, punish criminals, or keep the public safe. It's a business. In fact, there's an economic incentive for them to keep the amount of crimes high so they can keep receiving government funding.

Therein is the issue, you either need a janky replacement like microG (that never worked 100% reliably for me, plus it still contacts google servers anyway doesn't it), or graphene's solution of allowing you to sandbox it to another account AND denying it system-level privileges seems like a decent compromise.

Otherwise any apps relying on the maps API (e.g. uber and shit), and any apps relying on google push notifications (e.g. whatsapp, also telegram in my experience even though they claim not to, probably many others) just don't work well.
