It's unironically the best it's ever been. Pre-Silicon macOS was worthless dogshit, a complete joke compared to Windows. After that, it has actual advantages over it. (It doesn't help that Windows is getting exponentially worse due to Microsoft becoming a fully Indian company)
Aesthetically, though, it is a lot worse. But so is everything.

This passive-aggressive shit tells you everything you need to know about Apple.
What put them back on their feet after His Holy Steveness returned? iTunes and the iPod. But not in 2001 when they were introduced to the world, Mac-only, of course.
It took until the end of 2003 before they offered a Windows-version of iTunes, yet the sales of iPods were still flat. Shucks. Why is that? Lack of FireWire outside the Garden of Apple, mayhaps? You know, the connector smarter people at Apple had to convince His Steveness for a long long time to stop making mandatory.
Before the models introduced in mid-2004, iPods only supported file syncing via USB, not charging. #yfsgt
Also where would the iPhone be without Windows?
A couple of years ago, when desktops were still in use, Apple sold about 10 iPhones for every Mac sold per year. I'd wager a guess what the other 8-9 iPhones were used with.
