wi-fi web surfing is a retarded test for battery life. there's too many variables involved pulling power elsewhere from the soc.

I got an Asus Laptop with arm Windows (half off on sale).
Most things just work (as well as they usually do on windows at least). Windows claims to have 9-10 hrs of battery life (3/4 brightness, 144hz Oled) during browsing/ voice chat, but I haven't yet used it for that long off grid.
I'd say it absolutely has potential, but is also evidently isn't there yet.

Also Qualcomm doesn't have drivers, instead each manufacturer has to provide their own drivers. Very nostalgic....

When a laptop comes around that has decent build quality and has great Linux support, I will buy it. I'm jealous of the M series performance, but I hate Apple products.

Yeah I use an apple m laptop for work and they're very good. I'd even switch to risc-v if things develop there. Nothing against x86 but clearly good performance and user experience is possible with arm

No. MacBook are weakest laptops available to market, and they are using ARM. I wouldn't buy one if you pay me.

It's technically true but nobody uses a laptop solely to read email for 10 hours on battery.
