Looking for CPU upgrade suggestions for VM heavy work. I've had both AMD and Intel in the past, but I have always felt Intel chips are superior.

I'm leaning towards i9-14900K because it's under $500 and has 24 cores. I've heard threadrippers have bios issues, but I want a lot of cores. The downside of the new i9s is the E-core P-core split. I guess that means proxmox will just assign machines based on needs.

Actually I take this back. I was just playing around with the settings and turning off performance mode changes everything. It's so much more stable. Not sure why I had it on in the first place because that mode is designed for low power GPUs. I changed the frame buffer to 0 and the latency is non existent now too. When i was attaching cooler to my CPU I applied thermal paste, put the cooler on and then lifted it up to adjust it and see if the thermal paste is evenly spread.
Now I’m learning that there might be air bubbles from doing that which will cause serious issues. Should i clean the cooler and the CPU and reapply the paste? Am I fine and I should just keep going? Or should I just buy new cooler and a CPU?

I haven’t turned it on yet, and haven’t even finished working on the cables

Depends on the CPU. If you're running a super high end and hot CPU like an i9, it might cause your temps to be higher if there isn't proper contact. KTC H24T09P is a 1080p monitor with an IPS panel, it has good colors, wide viewing angles, and fast response times (less smeary).
The M27T6 is a 1440p monitor with a VA panel & mini LED backlight that boosts brightness & contrast. This monitors better for HDR gaming & content consumption.
But VA panels have slower response times than IPS and even the faster VA monitors have a bit of black smearing.

I bought a nvme ssd and plugged it in and now my sata ports are not working.

So i know that the nvme will disable some sata ports but it is disabling more sata ports than it says in the manual.
Instead of disabling just 2 like its supposed to, it is disabling 4.

The recommended cases generally have good airflow, but they don't have special noise-dampening features.
It's best to undervolt your CPU & GPU to run them more power efficiently if you want to set up a sound-optimized PC.

KTC HVA miniLED has a higher HDR contrast ratio in the worst-case test pattern (9x9 patch 5K:1 vs 2K:1), IPS miniLED is an option if you don't want VA smearing.

That's really the only reason why I've been waiting for the KOORUI monitor to hit the (lower) North American market. I spend enough time reading articles or typing that I kinda don't want to run in to that issue. It might not be as bad on the KTC monitor since it is newer and relatively faster than older VA panels, but ideally I'd be going for the IPS miniLED monitor.

Just mostly have to decide whether to go 24 oro 27 inch. I think before this thread I was set on getting an LG or Lenovo. I have had portable monitors before and there are so many random ass brands I thought monitors were the sme and the likes of KTC KOORUI and whatever were just advertising bullshit specs that weren't as good as the established brands.

You want to avoid Crucial DDR5 kits if you want better XMP/EXPO speeds & timings for gaming. The difference isn't crazy, but it's there.

Crucial (Micron) was good for DDR4 but are by far the weakest for DDR5. They only recently released DDR5-6000 bins but they have weak timings and no headroom. Only really recommended for low-performance PCs that somehow require DDR5.
Just go by speed+timings and sort by price. 6000-30-36-36 on AMD or 6400-32-39-39 on Intel (can go up to 6800 if you like). Those kits will all have chips made by SK Hynix who currently lead in performance.
