I used VLC for a long time until it had issues with HDR to SDR tone mapping. mpv worked out of the box but had shit UI, but you can fix it with some custom themes, so it’s a trade off I was willing to justify.

Well, to be fair, Windows 10 & 11 drastically changed how they handle themes and Microsoft themselves had a shitty broken dark theme implementation. They just recently fixed it for Windows 11.
I was always a fan of Classic theme, and being able to customize the colors went well with the VLC default skin. I am glad it worked for you and I am happy it was such a simple thing to do.
