>>105845220 (OP)Let's investigate how much time this shit actually takes
>switch to LinuxTakes a single afternoon to to backup files, prep a Mint USB, install, and get all the software you want
>graphenePurchase a compatible phone and spend an hour or so following instructions
>nextcloud, self hostingThis is a bit more intensive; for the average person who doesn't care about redundancies, Syncthing is a fine substitute for google drive and it takes fifteen minutes of setup on any device. Self hosting, though, is a hobby in itself.
>google mapsYou can pretty easily research and download an alternative; they might even have some in the play store
>gmailEmail is a bit tricky because unless you self host there's not much you can do to stop your email provider (whichever one you choose) from having AI crawl all your emails and selling their metadata. The average person, however, can probably find one that's slightly less evil than Google and easily make an account there.
>calendar, other superfluous shitThere are a million different offline calendar apps and you can sync them with syncthing.
>searchEvery browser has other search engines available, five seconds to locate it in your browser and switch to duck duck go or startpage.
This post has made me realize there's no excuse for not at least taking some steps to reduce your google exposure. Going all the way might not be worth it depending on your usecase, but it's not good for all your personal information to be for sale by a company like Google.
