Safari is a total joke
Doesn’t even exist outside the Apple ecosystem, how’s that “best” with such limits?
They probably cling to iCloud syncing and blind trust in Apple, even though its run by jeets now. Safari has horrible extension support, and its WebKit engine renders pages like it’s stuck in 2010, lagging behind Chrome’s Blink or Firefox’s Gecko (which sucks too but at least offers more). No decent hardware acceleration, and customization is a total joke. It’s likely the comfy bubble keeping them from seeing the competition browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Brave that blow Safari away in features and flexibility.

We have functional ad blockers: https://1blocker.com/
I sneed about how I can’t pick a totally custom default search engine, though

Webkit on Windows is practically non existent, so devs don't test it anymore. They barley even test on Firefox.

>default browser of an OS is shit
yea no shit, just like Edge on windows, you're suppose to use a better browser (Firefox or Brave, both hardened)

>horrible extension support
Tons of extensions in the app store, its just that some are paywalled (ie poorfag cope)
>WebKit engine renders pages like it’s stuck in 2010
I haven't seen such an issue but maybe I don't browse deprecated websites
>lagging behind Chrome’s Blink or Firefox’s Gecko
The only thing I will concede is that its a tad bit slower than Chromium/FF based browsers but its not slow enough to be a deal breaker, plus I'd rather have a more secure, resource efficient, and ecosystem integrated web browser than a speedy one without robust privacy.
>No decent hardware acceleration, and customization is a total joke
HW accel is on default and has been since Catalina. Customization is adequate with developer tools (sorry if you can't add tranime themes).
>browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Brave that blow Safari away in features and flexibility.
Chrome steals your data, Firefox is on its death bed, and Brave is but a glorified crypto miner. You can s.0.y over le heckin featurinos all you want, I'll stay with the thinking man's browser tyvm.

safari is the only browser that can play h265, av1, vp9 and h264 videos with full hardware acceleration (including HDR videos) no other browser on macOS can do this
