? just use the AUR

flatpaks have their use though, like sandboxing discord or spotify so they can't talk to anything else on your system that they don't need access to.

OP is a retard and thinks Linux is somehow bound to Flatpak and also doesn't know that there has always been closed source commercial software available as Flatpak - Flathub merely added optional payment processing for commercial software and handling of donations to developers.

OP is a fag but I am a little concerned that this incentivises developers to start charging for apps and flathub turns into a Google play type marketplace.

People will stop using Flatpak or just use free versions of shit on there. It's really not going to affect anything unless a strong mass of users (which I doubt a lot of Linux users are going to be) pay for whatever bullshit asks for money to install.

If Proton asks for money to install it, it's over for Linux.

The problem with your shit argument is that it will not make Linux better in any way, it will be the same but it wont be free anymore, same shit quality but this time you will pay. Remember only 3% of the revenue on Linux kernel and commies are in power right now, who do you think is pulling the strings?

spotx does not work on browser to steal premium from spotify, and discord on the browser does not allow voice chat unless it's the currently focused tab, which is retarded.

NTA but Linux can run at 3% budget because a lot of corporations sponsor free infrastructure. This isn't true for independent development.

Linux application developer here. Obviously I'm not going to tell you which apps but there is a good chance whoever is reading this is using an application made by me. I fucking love the idea of paid apps and donations on Flathub. This is a killer feature for me and I will soon change the README.md of all my applications to say that Flathub is the only supported and official way to install my apps. I will also actively discourage my users from using AppImages, Snaps and AUR after this. This is a game changer and I expect more and more application developers to switch exclusively to Flathub because of this. Flathub won.
