RTX 50 Super rumors: 5070 Ti Super 24GB, 5080 Super 24GB, 5070 Super 18GB

KTC releases budget 1440p miniLED in the US (M27T6, $300 promotional pricing until August).

>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: current 9070 prices in the US are too close to the 9070XT's.

>Product Notice
AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor but inconsistent QC.
Bad one causes DisplayHDR setting to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.

Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.

Avoid updating Gigabyte motherboard's RGB controller firmware, it can disable board features such as Q-Flash Plus.

whats the difference between expo1, expo2, and expo tweaked on asus amd boards?
Anonymous No.105853172 >>105853348
>>105853148
Expo 1 is probably the one with the loosest timings, making it easier on the CPU to run (speed & primary timing only).
Expo 2 is Expo 1 + a few secondary timing optimizations.
Expo Tweaked is probably a more aggressive memory timing customized by ASUS engineers.

idk. i just think its weird how linux and windows are both x86 operating systems and very similar but somehow certain ssds are slower. on linux i can understand why microsoft wont support wifi 7 because they are greedy but theres no reason for linux to have these issues since its open source and anyone can fix it. it would have to be an underlying thing in linux that you cant just change like the filesystem, but even then there are different filesystems you can choose from after all

I'm not complaining at all, but looking at the rumoured specs, is there really much justification to buy a 5080 super over a 5070 ti super unless you're absolutely min-maxing with no regard for price? Surely the practical difference between these cards will be marginal?

Is there any way to get Bluetooth to work?

I'm on Win10 and got tricked into getting an Asus motherboard because it has Win10 drivers, but now when I'm trying to figure out what's wrong I see that they have hidden away a "Win11 only" inside their FAQ for Wifi. Which I assume fucks up Bluetooth as well.

I don't care about Wifi not working but would like to get Bluetooth working if I can. Installing Win11 is not an option at the moment.

Expo2 strictly uses the expo profile on the ram stick
Expo1 uses the expo profile plus a couple of subtimings tightened by Asus based on your board/CPU/ram
Expo tweaked is expo1 but with even more tightened timings that may not be stable

Never mind, I solved it by downloading the Windows11-only Bluetooth driver.

Running AsusSetup.exe it said "Does not support this Operating System" but there was also a "Install.bat".
So I ran the bat file and the driver installed just fine and now Bluetooth works just fine, listening in my headphones right now.

Wouldn't be surprised if the wifi driver also works, I'm tired of fake "win10 incompatibility issues".

Unfortunately the Wifi driver didn't work. I tried several versions, most failed to install and even though one of the drivers said it successfully installed the Wifi did not start to work.

Lesson learned to check if the motherboard has all the preferred OS drivers before purchase (I only checked if it had chipset drivers for Win10 and thought that meant it supported Win10 completely).

I was going to get Noctua CPU cooler as I usually do but then I saw the prices I decided to look at alternatives, according to tests the Peerless Assassin were equal if not cooler than Noctua, and just as quiet, and on top of it all I think it was also a little smaller. So that's what I bought. If the fans break in some years I could always just switch them out.

Noctua needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Nobody will be the best forever, in a thousand years there will just be 1 kind of air cooler that is exactly the same across all brands, because at some point you reach the max and everybody else just copies you. Had Noctua been 50% more expensive I would have gotten it but 300%? That's too much, Noctua should ride their reputation now and these prices hinders it.

...Still bought some Noctua case fans tho since they were reasonable in price.

I don't know why you would want the XL, but I'm very happy with my North. I've got a 5070 Ti and a P40 in there, next time I upgrade I'll stick the P40 on a riser and it will fit where the side fans are, I'll move them to the top position. My only complaint is that all three 2.5" drive mounts are stuffed behind all of the cables where they get no airflow, I have to dangle my optane drive behind the bottom of the front fans to keep it from overheating.

I've got both that case and the Tornado and they are the same size, I had to remove one of the front fans of Tornado to fit the RTX 5080 inside. And the top one had to be moved inwards due to the little support pillar that comes with top tier gpus.
If the 5090 is longer than 5080 it would not fit in these cases.

A psu upgrade is not necessary since the 5800x3d barely uses any power and the 5080 doesn't use more power than the 3090 that you're already using.

Buy once, cry once premium option. It has the best 140mm fan on the market.
Loudness measured in dBA isn't enough to draw conclusions.
Some fans with a higher dB can sound more tolerable to ones with a lower dB reading because of the differences in sound frequency.

3090 unironically uses more power than 5080 since its built on inefficient samsung 8N
5080 uses tsmc's N4 node and runs below its power limit most times.

Hence, a psu upgrade is totally unneeded for the 5080 to function at spec. You can upgrade if you want to but it will not change anything with regards to stability or performance.

the higher the watt capacity, the slightly longer your pc will remain on and stable if there's a power fluctuation in your area. You live in a place with dogshit power? 1000+watts or you're retarded. Or you can buy a charge-bank thing for your pc for a few hundred on top, which is a better purchase so long as you're not worried about having a lithium bomb next to your pc long-term.

Its a miniscule benefit, but on the other hand, a good psu will last a decade, even through multiple upgrades, so its not a big deal overspending on it.

Barring some major shakeup of graphics/storage tech, this isn't going to make much difference. The best video cards are barely saturating PCIe *3* in games and loading is still bottlenecked by decompression/latency. Different story if you do something other than gaming ofc - let us know if so.

>The PSU I don't really know
It's fine. Good, even, but a bit pricey for the wattage. Strong 850W ATX3.X units usually go for ~$110-120.

The rest of the build is similar. Solid components but slightly overkill/overpriced. Could shave ~$100 off without significant compromise.

Both GPUs seem to run happily enough, I just have to switch my main monitor before doing it. the 8800 runs Crysis smoothly, the 6700 XT seems normal running Witcher 3.
I think the OpenGL errors don't matter.

Did this whole stupid thing because the Steins Gate visual novel has a rendering bug on modern AMD drivers, but I can't install the fixed versions on Win 7 (or downgrade drivers, the 5700 can but not a 6700). To get the most out of ryzen 9000, you'd want one of those x3d cpus with tripled L3 cache like the 9800x3d that reduces the IF bottleneck but those cost quite a lot more.

Not an expert, but what I read is that the actual defects, like mechanical issues surface in the first 3-6 months, so if it was used for about a year and then resold, then it's most likely good, it has several years until degradation. Basically look up when the drive was released, and if it's in the last few years, then it literally can't be an old ass drive with faked data.

Chat=GPT is adamant on the AOC. There's a variant that has speakers but with a worse screen.
Thing is, I kinda want speakers on the monitor but so few come with them. Are there any inobtrusive devices I can use that can give me some shitty speakers easily on a monitor? I’m also planning to add 3 more fans vertically, and I'm getting the Arctic Liquid Freezer III, which includes 3 additional fans. So in total, I’ll probably need a hub like the one in the pic.
My motherboard is the TUF B850 Plus.

Monitors without speakers tend to have a audio output, but the quality of the audio depends heavily on models.
I got a AOC 24g2sp and it had a good enough audio output, but I RMA'd it due to lines appearing and they replaced it with a 27g4 which is a downgrade in MBR and the audio output has audible noise.
If your monitor does have speakers, they typically have a 3.5mm jack but I don't remember if the jack is for input or output (It might be input if the monitor has a VGA port, since VGA has no audio, or maybe the monitor has both 3.5mm ports). I am pretty confident that a pair of tiny $15-30 usb Logitech speakers would sound better than monitor speakers (and logitech speakers aren't even that good, it's worth it to check facebook marketplace or gumtree if anyone is selling speakers with a subwoofer for $15, or just use earbuds).
Also you could get the AOC Q27G3XMN which is a VA mini LED with 300 zones for slightly more than a normal 1440p monitor, but the q27g40xmn is newer, has 1000 zones, and it fixed the VRR flicker (not noticeable in most cases), BUT the new model is only solid in the US ATM, and the older model is still a valid option for you (the new model has a non-adjustable stand, that's why the new model is only $50 more, the stand is worth like an extra $40). No built in speakers however.
I would go for the mini-led if you spent a lot of time in the dark watching dark scenes that make the whole screen black, since IPS glow could be annoying in that specific scenario, VA might not have as good motion clarity / viewing angles however (but it's pretty solid, I wouldn't care unless you get motion sickness, check rtings), and VA has better contrast which might make it look better than IPS. Worst case scenario you might disable local dimming due to the artifacts from the zones.

>MBR
*I mean motion blur reduction.
I didn't use MBR much beacause it disables VRR + 120hz, but I admit, it did make scrolling 4chan more crisp.
The old model had pulse width modulation which is why it was a downgrade. And also I saw a bunch of youtube reviews showing the AOC monitor being decent at MBR (but not the best, I think a zowie was better?).

Hey guys I recently bought Elden Ring on the Summer Sale but haven't been able to play it, it initially would go blackscreen, game audio would cut in and out, monitor would lose a signal, game would sometimes minimize, etc. Appears to be a software issue, I disabled fullscreen optimizations and was able to click start game before this window popped up

atieclxx.exe
The exception unknown software exception (0xc000000d) occurred in the application at location 0x00007FFD5340286F. Click on OK to terminate the program

I have a Geforce RTX 5070ti and my CPU is AMD Ryzen 9 9900X, every other game runs fine including more demanding ones such as Black Myth Wukong so what could be causing the issues here?

if you erp, and you have nothing to hide, just use openrouter with sillytavern, there are daily free limits but it's easy to switch between OR accounts while using sillytavern. Google Colab lets you load anything with 15gb of vram, but it's complex and autistic.
if you erp with custom models, sure buy a $1000+ 24gb GPU (at msrp, more like $1800 if you miss the stock), but most erp models need 48gb (AKA 70b q4).
If you just want to fuck with AI for testing, if you have 32gb of ram, you can just run it on your CPU at like 30x slower than running on a fast GPU.
If you don't mind shit being slow a shit, you could buy 2x 5060 TI's, it will hit like 10tk/s with 32gb (half the speed of 2x 5070 TI).
the 5090 isn't bad for $2000, since it's faster than 2x 5070 TI for LLM's. I highly doubt the super refresh would be better in cost per token.

i've seen attempts at colorizing anime but even if it was faster than doing it by hand, i don't really think there is any demand.
to use the ai correctly for an entire comic is gonna require effort, but I think it will devalue your work more than the work you put in (as in, good luck finding someone to commission your colorizing skills, when they THINK could do it themselves, but in reality it's actually really hard unless you're ok with people giving bad reviews/ pointing out issues because you didn't want to spend an extra minute fixing or manually painting something).

+50% VRAM and higher clock speeds. I did not recommend buying a 5070 Ti and then a 5080 Super, I explicitly said to buy *either* a 5070 Ti now OR a 5080 Super in a few months. There is no reason to buy a 5080 right now because it's barely faster than the 5070 Ti and has the same memory but is significantly more expensive.
