in terms of performance 32 bit programs are on par with their 64 bit counterparts on ARM but not x86

recently have gained the linux fatigue and realized there was no real reason for me to stay with linux given what I use my computer for. Over time I've landed on only emacs / terminal tools for basically everything. As of this week I replaced my main setup with netbsd and use moonlight with a SteamOS machine in the living room to still be able to play games on netbsd when I want to.

Netbsd has felt quite nice. I've been itching for a complete system like this for a while, and even considered MacOS before I can back to my senses. I've also really enjoyed the stock ctwm that netbsd ships with. It's just enough of a window manager. Gets out of the way and keeps everything simple.

One of the things that I really like in my systems is the ability to go long amounts of time without updating. I know there are linux distros like this too, but it's still noteworthy that I can probably use this computer in its current state for the next 10 years without worrying.

I've read that netbsd has a lua API to the kernel. Has anyone done anything cool with this?

I'm all for minimalism but are there any good examples of minimalist software that are used for something more serious than editing text files?
