However, because the chairs are built so well, there is a big renew/refurbished/used market where you can get the chairs at less than half that price. That's probably what you want to do.
The problem with a lot of budget to mid range chairs, stuff that gets up to $500 new but is available at Staples or Office Depot, is longevity. They may feel comfortable enough when you go sit on them, but they will often not hold up as well after a year and especially after multiple years. If you're on the heavier side, this is especially true. You may be surprised at the max weight a lot of those chairs are rated for, it can be kinda low.
"Signature" chairs like the Aeron often have 12 year warranties from the manufacturers because they're built like a tank and expected to last. From that POV you can consider the chairs an investment like a mattress.
