>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: current 9070 prices in the US are too close to the 9070XT's.
>Product Notice
AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor but inconsistent QC.
Bad one causes DisplayHDR setting to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.
Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.

>why yes I buy my PCs pre-built, how could you tell?
Starting the thread off right : The 9070xt is slower than a base 5070 ($550) in the only game that actually matters when you build a new pc, Cyberpunk with RT Overdrive enabled.
>>105863398>inconsistent QCevery monitor these days it's a shitshow

>>105863452>CyberShitstain 2077 with faRTy OverDrive
>>105863452>the only game that actually matters when you build a new pcRight, but I'm more interested in games that actually matter when I start actually using it instead of jerking it to benchmarks.

>>105863482>>105863502>>105863528Cope and seethe, AMD at their best still can't deliver on what a budget Nvidia card can, visuals that are straight from the year 2077.

>>105863578>5 years from nowI'll just waitโข for the newer and stronger cards.
Imagine building a PC for Witcher 4 in 2025, kek.
>>105863673>Waitfagging when he could be experiencing the future of pc gaming now for as little as $550 (like 2 weeks worth of groceries in the post Biden era)Foolish.
>>105863673>waitfaggingyeah because all those 4090 owners really missed out when 3 years later their 4090s were worth more than what they bought them for
Is there a better or just as good monitor as the upcoming gigabyte mo27q28g that I could get from the sale on Amazon within the same price range maybe? I only have a 4080 GTX super so I don't even know if I can do 4k.
>>105863769do you ever use upscaling of any kind
>>105863727Completed it on Intel Arc.
Also completed too.
>>105863724My current video card is already good enough to play all the new games.
There's 0 point in building a new pc right now to prepare for Witcher 4.
>>105863850In games? I don't think so.
>>105863727>360 watts>quake 2>>105863870Prepare to Stutters edition? Also it will be much worse than 3, my guess its something like Plague Tale in open world.
Also i waiting for Witcher 1 remake. Thats based game.
>>105863907then 4K Ultra is out of the question
>>105863959I mean I could use upscaling, just probably not for some games. I can't really say what the 4080 Super is capable of.
I bought a Fractal North but now I'm worried this thing is going to collect a lot of dust with no top dust filter. I'm using three 120mm intakes in front and one rear exhaust. Would adding a top exhaust fan help? I probably should have went with an AIO with a radiator for the top.
>>105863987return it for the torrent, I don't like cases with mesh top panels for the same reason.
>>105858210>wanting to get the 2k experience or should i stay with 1080p?>Okay but 2k == 1080p. So not quite sure what you want to say hereStop being an obtuse faggot you know he means 1440p.
>>105863428My friend keeps trying to talk me into doing it, he bought is and is always complaining about it doing weird things. I built my first one and want to build my second one. I don't like the thought of some sweaty jeet rubbing his poo dna all over every inch of my pc and it being there forever.

I thought you were immune to this shit as long as you don't go 3rd party seller?
>>105864063That's why you always record opening tech stuff you order online. So you have video proof of the scam.
>>105864063>arrives in weird packagingalready over
was it open box?
either way
return and refund
use shipped and sold by Amazon only or go to a brick and mortar
even ebay is more reliable than pooegg
>>105864092>That's why you always record opening tech stuff you order online. So you have video proof of the scam. This shouldn't be necessary. If a retailer refuses to take back the item in the situation that the other posted narrated you should never buy anything from them ever again, and also sue them if you live in a country with proper consumer laws i.e. not burgerland
>>105864062Not a brand war, what I've said is 100% correct objectively speaking and useful to someone building a pc
I've positively contributed to the zeitgeist with my post
>>105864122>was it open box?new. it was a replacement for one of 2 drives I purchased just a week prior. Both of those were genuine but one of them was actually fucked, like the platters were shattered or something, so I had to return it. Those arrived in proper consumer packaging with a manual, screws, etc. This replacement version arrived in a cardboard box with no manual, no screws, in a "water tight" bag rather than an anti-static one, etc
yeah I already refunded and boxed it up with my shipping label. First time this has happened with newegg, I've ordered thousands of dollars worth of shit there
Is there a specific type of usb I should use to install windows on a new pc? I don't have any usb drives and I'll need to buy one.

posted about not being able to get into bios on my new build yesterday, ty to the anons who gave advice
minor progress, after disconnecting the gpu I was able to get into bios and update + set pcie slot to gen4. reseated gpu, tested with both 12 cables that came with the PSU, then tested with the 4:1 adapter that came with the 5090 and it managed to get into bios ONCE. then moved it from the table to my desk and connected kb + boot drive and it's now stuck on POST again
the power to the 5090 seems fine, all of the fans/lights/lcd screen light up and it's playing the stock animations. I'm not sure if theres any easy way to confirm that the PSU is giving it consistent power. I think my next step is to open my current desktop and move my 3060 over and see if it will boot with that. any other suggestions are appreciated

My 3070 started clicking and has had an annoying coil whine for a bit now. Is sidegrading to a 5060ti($600) or 9060xt($500) worth or am I being jewed?

Anyone using the Montech AIR 903 MAX with the fans than came with the case? How did you set the chassis fan curve?
I build my PC yesterday, the idle CPU temp is around 46C but little CPU spikes jump the temp up to 66C before the air cooler ramps up to steady the temp.
My problem is that the chassis fans ramp up as well and they're pretty loud for like 2 seconds before slowing down again. I'm a bit worried if I'd steady the fan curve they won't push enough air into the case when it's under load.

I'm thinking about buying a third M.2 SSD, and my motherboard (ASSrock B650E Taichi) has another slot for one, but I think it's one of those situations where if you fill up all the M.2 slots, the PCIe 5.0 x16 gets downgraded to x8 or something, but I don't know if my 4090 even needs that much bandwidth in the first place so I'm about to start reading through documentation, but this reminds me of this sperglord sequence from American Psycho lmao

How much multitasking and productivity benefits do you actually get from buying a better CPU?
Like, for the 7600x3d vs the 7800x3d vs the 7900x3d or 950, or a Zen 5 CPU, or something like a 14900 or better, is going for the 900/950, the 14900k/x etc really gonna make it so I could have both an internet browser with hundreds of tabs open, an image editor with many multilayer large images open, AND run a game, or is that going to be a struggle no matter what CPU I throw at it?
I'm actually wondering this even moreso for laptop CPUs, say the 8845HS vs a 8945HS, or a hx processor, again a 13900 or 14900 mobile one, etc
>>105867033This is how CPUs have boosted since 2019 and they're not dying from it. Hell, GPUs have been doing it for over a decade. Plus, capping it at 80 won't appreciably moderate the cycling. Disregarding GPU computing power, is there any reason to go from 1440 to 4k:
- gamingwise
- workwise (internet browser, IDE, terminals)
- movies
My take is that the monitor size (32") is to small too justify 4K, at least TV size such as 55" has more sense.

> not able to POST while 5090 connected regardless of other components (1-2 ram sticks, etc.)> randomly messing with connections, double checking bios while displayport is connected to the motherboard> reseat the 5090 for one last check before I box it up to return> boots no issue> realize the displayport is still on mobo, switch it to GPU, display is working fine> system sees the 5090, able to update driver, monitor temps, etc.> if I reboot WITH displayport connected to the 5090 it will not POST> if I reboot with displayport connected to mobo, and then connect it to the 5090 after it boots everything seems to work fine> super consistent, rebooted half a dozen times each with display connected to mobo vs gpu. it always boots if the displayport is connected to the mobo, and seems to work fine after switching back to the 5090. it always fails POST if displayport is connected to the 5090 or disconnected entirelyanyone have any idea what the fuck is happening here? is it skipping the check against the gpu if the displayport is directly connected to the mobo? could this be an issue with the mobo itself? or is my displayport cable so fucked that its somehow causing the 5090 to fail POST? I really don't want to have to return this and wait for a new one if I don't have to

>>105871832on later passes the error wasnt found and i reset it to default speed and it found no errors then i loaded the standard oc profile and it found no errors
what do you think it meabs?
it said both errors wre on stick b2
>>105872180Could be issue with Displayport 2.1. Maybe try setting the monitor to DP 1.4 if you can, or maybe your cable is not the 2.1 one and that somehow causes issues. You could also try different drivers as there were plenty of issues with DP 2.1 early on
>>105870908your case fans shouldn't go much above idle speeds, where (good) 120mm are plenty silent
and that's the benefit of bigger cases, you can just have more and bigger fans which obviously means more air moving through it
the loudest fans in your system is usually from the gpu, then the cpu/aio, then case fans
most matx cases are perfectly fine for airflow, you just have to stick fans in all the fan spots
>>105863464In other news. Customs decided to randomly inspect the pc case that shouldโve arrived today. So this beast wonโt be able to stretch its legs until Monday
Whats a good cpu to pair with a 3050? Did i mess up getting a am5 board? Going for fanless build

>>105872028>doesn't the table at the bottom mean that if you use the second slot it will be only x8The table says the 2nd slot is "N/A" in single VGA card config.
>>105872180Try different DP ports in the video card, use a different display cable (ex. HDMI).
Check if there are any firmware updates for that 5090 in the manufacturer's product support page..
>>105872361It means the Corsair OC profile you used was unstable for your CPU & board.
If you got a different 6000MT/s CL30 setting working stably, it's all good.
I would consider updating the board BIOS to the latest stable version if you haven't done it already.
I'd revert BIOS to stock settings before updating BIOS just to be extra safe.
Some boards automatically revert the BIOS settings to default when you choose to update it.
>>105872184i bought it for the meme factor
>>105872407I think you messed up getting the 3050.
7500F or 7600/X is overkill for that system.
Set a stricter power limit if you get the 7600X.
>>105865424Did you try turning it off and on again?
>>105872407well you only like two options? 9600x or 9700x, both being 65w zen5
>>1058724987600x is 105w and more expensive than 9600x
>>105872507It's not that hard to set a power limit on the -X CPUs if they're cheaper than the non-X.
how big of a jump is going from 3900x to 9950x3d?
i feel like i was getting cpu bottlenecked in some games with my 3080ti
>>105872432yeah maybe it doesn't work like this
still, that anon should check gpu-z, it will show him if the gpu uses only x8
>>105872594Not a crazy difference @ 4K, it can be a big difference at 1440p and lower. But your 3080Ti will be the main bottleneck @ 1440p & 4K.

>PC monitor has USB ports
Anyone ever used that? How purely optional are those one? I only can count following use case:
- usb hub for mouse, keyboard, webcam
- usb charger for phone or external speakers (that if PC monitor can direct some voltage, while not being connected to PC)
Also, while I understand that USB type B often acts like input/upstream port, I am confused about USB-C in general.
Because USB-C can act upstream port AND / OR handle video signal? I am confused about this. Can it do both or are they have to be split / dedicated for each role?
Besides, I never saw GPU with USB-C. I understand that 1x HDMI + 3x DP is most popular config as far I saw. Is this still novelty or USB-C is behind capabilities of HDMI and DP?
>>105872826i use ports on monitor for charging mkb and bt speaker
>>105872826I used to connect my controller via my monitors USB slots but my new PC has native bluetooth so I dont need it anymore. I remember that the USB ports would disconnect if I switched from DP to HDMI so I couldn't use them for microphone or other things when I wanted to play on console with the PC being active for VoIP or other things.

Anyone here who owns or has tried this monitor: MSI Mag 256F https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZWCG65X
Its surprisingly difficult to pick a 1080p IPS 100+hz monitor because some of the negative reviews always keep me hesitating from buying. I would gladly pay like 50-100 bucks more if there was like a well known premium model with guaranteed high quality and longevity but I havent found one like this so far...
>>105873937At least it's easy to carry outside when you need to clean the dust out.
>>105873942>HDR 400>IPS PanelDon't do it.
>>105873942It's a VA panel. Might have some smearing, but it's fine if you know what you're getting into.
I think it's a good deal, Innocn is an OEM. They make Acer monitors.
Not many reviews for that specific model.
>>105873970There's an ASUS ROG XG259CS, but I don't think this justifies the extra $60 premium.
>>105873983These monitor's Amazon listing is such a shitshow.
>Product name says model is "34G1R".>Product Information says it's "34E3R".>Product description says it's the "34G1R" model.
>>105874082So what panel is it now? I had once a miniLED VA here for a few days with HDR 1000 I think and it was a bright mess. The HDR 600 IPS Panel I have now is nearly the same.
>>105873937It doesn't have a dust filter in the front?
>>105874043The asus monitor looks interesting and its also available on amazon where I live. I have put it on my list for now. I figured even tho prime day ends in like an hour I shouldnt rush and just order something just because its a sale.
>>105874110If we go by the model in the product name (34G1R), it's a VA panel.

>>105873970>premium>1080pdon't think they exist
one of them ips's are like 3 visits to mcdonalds to me, it's not that serious, you should not have fomo over it
just buy the cheapest 180hz ips one and call it a day
>>105874146the wood version of the front panel has a filter behind it
>>105874189While you are correct that they arent that expensive my main issue is I just ideally wanna get one that works well and wont break in a year or so plus I dont wanna deal with endless ordering one, testing it out only to realize it has dead pixels, ghosting or terrible more than average backlight bleeding and then packing it up and send it back again to try another one. I wanna get one that I can count on keeping you know.
>>105874296>and wont break in a year or soup to rng hope for the best though on some reliable brand
>testing it out only to realize it has dead pixelsdead pixels are approved in the ISO standard unless you buy professional grade monitors so you are stuck swapping regardless if bad rng
>ghostingall ips have ghost compared to oled or even tn
>terrible more than average backlight bleedingstandard ips + ips glow, or buy oled
>I wanna get one that I can count on keepingtoo big demands for 199$ monitors unless you get a 1440p oled for 400-500 or something
>>105874366Yeah theres lots of rng involved I guess. Ive been using a very old TN monitor and never had an IPS one before so im a bit concerened about the glow. Ive tried both and I prefer a 24 monitor over larger sizes and 1440p just doesnt make sense even if my GPU could handle it and OLED is just way over the top for my needs. Idk if youre the anon who suggested the asus strix XG259CS but I might actually get that one.
>>105874423>Ive tried both and I prefer a 24 monitor over larger sizesa 27" monitor place 3" further back is the same percieved size
so you will never have a good monitor from now on then? they are refusing to make decent 24" ones
>and 1440p just doesnt make sense even if my GPU could handle ityou just get better panels even going to a budget 1440p from a budget 1080p
>TN monitor and never had an IPS one before so im a bit concerened about the glowsome hate glow and even prefer tn
but there is a difference between glow and blb
idk how bad it is on ips monitors these days and i dont wanna find out
