RTX 50 Super rumors: 5070 Ti Super 24GB, 5080 Super 24GB, 5070 Super 18GB

KTC M27T6 (1440p miniLED) promotional pricing until August ($300 US)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F7Q22V3W
Review link (use translator): https://chimolog.co/ktc-m27t6/

>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: current 9070 prices in the US are too close to the 9070XT's.

>Product Notice
AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor but inconsistent QC.
Bad one causes DisplayHDR setting to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.

Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/update-on-thermal-putty-on-gigabyte-graphics-cards-after-further-storage-oil-separation-to-an-alarming-extent-and-silence-as-a-strategy/

Avoid updating Gigabyte motherboard's RGB controller firmware, it can disable board features such as Q-Flash Plus.

new. it was a replacement for one of 2 drives I purchased just a week prior. Both of those were genuine but one of them was actually fucked, like the platters were shattered or something, so I had to return it. Those arrived in proper consumer packaging with a manual, screws, etc. This replacement version arrived in a cardboard box with no manual, no screws, in a "water tight" bag rather than an anti-static one, etc

yeah I already refunded and boxed it up with my shipping label. First time this has happened with newegg, I've ordered thousands of dollars worth of shit there

posted about not being able to get into bios on my new build yesterday, ty to the anons who gave advice

minor progress, after disconnecting the gpu I was able to get into bios and update + set pcie slot to gen4. reseated gpu, tested with both 12 cables that came with the PSU, then tested with the 4:1 adapter that came with the 5090 and it managed to get into bios ONCE. then moved it from the table to my desk and connected kb + boot drive and it's now stuck on POST again

the power to the 5090 seems fine, all of the fans/lights/lcd screen light up and it's playing the stock animations. I'm not sure if theres any easy way to confirm that the PSU is giving it consistent power. I think my next step is to open my current desktop and move my 3060 over and see if it will boot with that. any other suggestions are appreciated

You can already disable E cores on the older chips and the performance gain you get is negligible so how are they going to "get the gamers back" which effectively means competing with x3d chips with just small clock boosts on old alder lake tech?!

Anyone using the Montech AIR 903 MAX with the fans than came with the case? How did you set the chassis fan curve?
I build my PC yesterday, the idle CPU temp is around 46C but little CPU spikes jump the temp up to 66C before the air cooler ramps up to steady the temp.
My problem is that the chassis fans ramp up as well and they're pretty loud for like 2 seconds before slowing down again. I'm a bit worried if I'd steady the fan curve they won't push enough air into the case when it's under load.

Thank you very much for the help. Tbh the Asus is really the max of my budget. The mini Led one is even more expensive but I feel like I'm entering a never ending cycle where I'm always looking at the next model up
I started out wanting a cheapo 1080p 24inch monoitor and now I'm at 27", 2K, HDR and whatever else.
I think I've been convinced to get the Asus, despite beign previously sold on the AOC.
I wanted Speakers but thinking about it they're likely going to be so shit it'll feel silly using them anyway. I do have some Creative Pebbles speakers I bought off Marketplace but like I said, they'd have to be placed like 2m away from the monitor.

Likely varies with the capacity. 1GB/TB is a standard amount so 2GB would be reasonable. Understand that the DRAM on SSDs isn't there for data caching like your system RAM. It stores the flash translation layer, a map of "location on filesystem" to "location on disk", so you don't get more performance from having an excess.

How much multitasking and productivity benefits do you actually get from buying a better CPU?

Like, for the 7600x3d vs the 7800x3d vs the 7900x3d or 950, or a Zen 5 CPU, or something like a 14900 or better, is going for the 900/950, the 14900k/x etc really gonna make it so I could have both an internet browser with hundreds of tabs open, an image editor with many multilayer large images open, AND run a game, or is that going to be a struggle no matter what CPU I throw at it?

I'm actually wondering this even moreso for laptop CPUs, say the 8845HS vs a 8945HS, or a hx processor, again a 13900 or 14900 mobile one, etc

This is how CPUs have boosted since 2019 and they're not dying from it. Hell, GPUs have been doing it for over a decade. Plus, capping it at 80 won't appreciably moderate the cycling. You'd want to add hysteresis to your fan curves and maybe limit the EDC (though the PB parameters on your CPU are already conservative).

Disregarding GPU computing power, is there any reason to go from 1440 to 4k:
- gamingwise
- workwise (internet browser, IDE, terminals)
- movies
My take is that the monitor size (32") is to small too justify 4K, at least TV size such as 55" has more sense.

Dunno honestly, for me 1440p on a 27" display is crystal clear, but I'm saying this as I'm coming from a 34" ultrawide 1080p monitor. Going back to that is a disaster and I can't believe I used that for years. 4k is nice (my 48" TV is 4k), but everything becomes so small you have to use min. 175% upscaling anyway. I don't think in games you'll see too much difference, as 1440p is already sharp and no need for a top-tier GPU to produce playable framerates.

On Firefox I noticed that jewtube tab or jewtube embed can eat few GBs of RAM, sometimes extensions (I have ublock and noscript) get broken and instead of using about 300 MBs they use 2 GB or more, also there is Firefox GPU subprocess which also can use a lot of RAM and constantly use CPU even though nothing is being played anymore. You want to install the video card in the first x16 PCIe slot because it directly communicates with the CPU.

posting AGAIN wanted to make absolutely sure my 5090 was the problem.. and now I'm unsure

> not able to POST while 5090 connected regardless of other components (1-2 ram sticks, etc.)
> randomly messing with connections, double checking bios while displayport is connected to the motherboard
> reseat the 5090 for one last check before I box it up to return
> boots no issue
> realize the displayport is still on mobo, switch it to GPU, display is working fine
> system sees the 5090, able to update driver, monitor temps, etc.
> if I reboot WITH displayport connected to the 5090 it will not POST
> if I reboot with displayport connected to mobo, and then connect it to the 5090 after it boots everything seems to work fine
> super consistent, rebooted half a dozen times each with display connected to mobo vs gpu. it always boots if the displayport is connected to the mobo, and seems to work fine after switching back to the 5090. it always fails POST if displayport is connected to the 5090 or disconnected entirely

anyone have any idea what the fuck is happening here? is it skipping the check against the gpu if the displayport is directly connected to the mobo? could this be an issue with the mobo itself? or is my displayport cable so fucked that its somehow causing the 5090 to fail POST? your case fans shouldn't go much above idle speeds, where (good) 120mm are plenty silent
and that's the benefit of bigger cases, you can just have more and bigger fans which obviously means more air moving through it
the loudest fans in your system is usually from the gpu, then the cpu/aio, then case fans

most matx cases are perfectly fine for airflow, you just have to stick fans in all the fan spots

Try different DP ports in the video card, use a different display cable (ex. HDMI).
Check if there are any firmware updates for that 5090 in the manufacturer's product support page..

It means the Corsair OC profile you used was unstable for your CPU & board.
If you got a different 6000MT/s CL30 setting working stably, it's all good.

I would consider updating the board BIOS to the latest stable version if you haven't done it already.
I'd revert BIOS to stock settings before updating BIOS just to be extra safe.
Some boards automatically revert the BIOS settings to default when you choose to update it.

>PC monitor has USB ports
Anyone ever used that? How purely optional are those one? I only can count following use case:
- usb hub for mouse, keyboard, webcam
- usb charger for phone or external speakers (that if PC monitor can direct some voltage, while not being connected to PC)

Also, while I understand that USB type B often acts like input/upstream port, I am confused about USB-C in general.
Because USB-C can act upstream port AND / OR handle video signal? I am confused about this. Can it do both or are they have to be split / dedicated for each role?

Besides, I never saw GPU with USB-C. I understand that 1x HDMI + 3x DP is most popular config as far I saw. Is this still novelty or USB-C is behind capabilities of HDMI and DP?

I wanna get one that I can count on keeping you know.

dead pixels are approved in the ISO standard unless you buy professional grade monitors so you are stuck swapping regardless if bad rng

all ips have ghost compared to oled or even tn

>terrible more than average backlight bleeding
standard ips + ips glow, or buy oled

so you will never have a good monitor from now on then? they are refusing to make decent 24" ones

you just get better panels even going to a budget 1440p from a budget 1080p
