how come 6.4" is considered small now
i thought a phone wasn't small unless it was smaller than 5"

That's subjective. Objectively it's noticeably smaller that 99% android pans

objectively it's a persons hands that dictate what counts as small not other phablets

Because phones didn't grow much in size, but the display to bezel ratio grew massively. 7 years back a 5 inch phone was bigger than a 6.3 inch bezel-less phone today, so that's why the 6.3 inch phone can be called compact.

no they were not
phones from a decade ago were smaller than phones from today and those were considered big at the time

Boomers will look you dead in the eye and tell you using a phone with a 3.5 inch screen was better
