It's been two decades, can't they just make Wayland work already? My applications need global hotkeys. How am I meant to use Mouse injector through Wine on Wayland? Why are we forced to accept Linux becoming an iPhone?

Stop lying and pretending to be dumber than you are. Every fucking day with this shit. You know that Wayland is a set of protocols and not one piece of software. You know that some desktops will bother to talk over a bus to send hotkey events to applications and others don't care. You also know that you can just add fucking IPC to any program and control it with commands that you can assign to hotkeys in any desktop or window manager you can find.

Applications that advertise themselves as having "global hotkeys" that only work with an Xorg server willing to expose all key presses to every single application are not the gotcha that you think they are.

Yeah, install XFCE or another Xorg DE. Then all programs can see every input. You are not actually this retarded and don't need to be told this, you are just making a bait thread.

Honestly, WINE is a fantastic argument for keeping Xorg DEs available in mainline distros, because Windows also has shit protection against shit like keylogging.

I don't know why you people think I'm some kind of goblin who doesn't want software to work. If you think the security standards that Red Hat and Canonical want are homosexual, simply install Debian and bask in the simplicity of the DE selection menu on install.

Wine for wayland isn't becoming the default for a few years.
It's still very unfinished.

We shove Wine in Xwayland or shove it in its own compositor(gamescope that's how steam deck works)
We don't need Xorg

As a noob on Linux it's frustrating.

Anydesk doesn't work on Wayland and Viber pops notifications in the middle of the screen. Plus I had one instance of running Skyrim SE and my screen going black as if it's turned off and I had to button reset the PC.

On X11 dual monitor setup leads to stutters in games even when I limit frequency and fps both to 60 (and goverlay says i'm on stable 60fps).

For now I'm mostly on Wayland but it's annoying having to oscilate between the 2 of them depending on what I intend to do.

Maybe there are better solutions and I'm too much of a noob to figure them out.

Problem with wayland is every display server feature needs to be implemented by every window manager. So although my computer is perfectly capable of running google maps in 3D on KDE, I have to figure out how to implement all the same wayland protocols myself to get it working on DWL or else I'm stuck with 2D

don't treat wayland as 20 year old software because it only started to catch up since the 2020s started, as nobody cared about it until then.
i think you'll have to use KDE plasma and enable the X11 keystroke options and use wine in Xwayland. i have no idea if that would work with the linux version of an emulator, so you're probably going to have to resort to using the window version of the emulators you want to use if they don't.

Because it was always about contrarianism. Which, unfortunately, is what Linuxfaggotry mostly consists of. Linux is just flatly superior to Windows, but you wouldn't know that from reading the shit said BY Linux users.

Wayland doesn't work because it is not finished. Until such time as (a) it can do everything that Xorg does *and* (b) all programs that compile & runs on Xorg can compile and run against on, you stick to Xorg.

just tested 720p 60fps avc video with mpv in xorg and weston

xorg = smooth fast playback with no stutter or frame drop
weston = minor skipping, obviously not smooth 60fps playback, even worse with x11egl option instead of wayland (years ago only gnome had fps skips, weston was ok, now weston is shit too)

how is gayland better exactly? from my experience it has become objectively worse over the years.
