I spoke to support to reinstate the account. They said it was grayjay that did it. Converting playlists to local playlists. Only grayjay does this. Years of xmanager and nothing of the sort.

if you hate the terminal that much, you can set up e.g. a share handler script, which will let you download music by sharing a url from the youtube app
I have a similar setup on my phone, but for downloading porn. So I can search for some videos using a normal Android browser, and then share the link to Termux, which triggers the download script
