You've had decades to start caring and resisting this trend and now it's too late. It will come to every piece of software and every device and people will call you weird for even noticing.

They removed these settings. You can enable legacy extensions, but it still blocks 4chan X and ublock. You can get around the ublock issue by downloading and manually installing the latest build though.

I'm in the same boat as you. It's going to take a while to fully get used to it, but honestly after tinkering with it for the past few hours, I don't really mind it. It's close enough to Chrome without using up a ton of fucking memory. I just hope they don't pull something stupid in the future. I don't want to have to switch again any time soon.

That said I fear that the Chrome extension store pages are down now which might make installing the extensions difficult on new browser profiles. Are they still up/accessible?

what brave did was replace discovered referrer links with their own, it's bad and didn't last long.
what alphabet does is record everything you do in your browser, incognito mode doesn't matter, and then block you from using the addons you want to use. enjoy that.

Also what's the best way to go about using chrome keyboard shortcuts on firefox? Should I just tough it out?

chromium is what, 35 million loc of cpp now?

diverging from upstream in any way (patches to upstream, rewriting contribs, etc.) is an obscene task. it takes individuals years of experience with the chromium codebase to make meaningful changes to it, and the disparity between the codebases will only increase as time goes on. i dont believe that brave can or will keep up, and that doesnt even consider braves own perverse incentives.

beyond just indirectly controlling the codebase of chromium, google also has indirect control over web standars/apis. the concensus problem of "what is the internet" is being dominated by a company with more resources and foothold than any other, and its objective is to spy on you, steal from you, and corner you into a position where they can do this forever. supporting this in any way is a moral failure and honestly stupid if you give any semblance of a shit about yourself beyond the next hour. the constant recording of telemetry about you as an individual is dangerous, and thats the essence of googles business model. anything chromium-based is dangerous because of the technologies it necessitates and proposes.

MV2 still works in firefox and its downstreams and is roadmapped to continue to be supported. thats literally the only fucking thing that anyopne even mildly clued-into the browser ecosystem cares about. if youre asking the question "what browser should i use?", the answer is firefox. there is no other correct answer.

if brave is the same as mozilla, then why would you suport a monopolistic tech space built on chromium (which is now and forever beholden to google) instead of at least a duopoly in which differing companies fuck everyone differently? not to mention braves crypto grift shit.

firefox is also "blatant about it". mozilla updated their tos and told everyone what theyre doing. shocker: its the same as everyone and all their worthless chromium downstreams, but without google doing it. and you can turn it off.

brave continuing to support MV2 relies on both braves ability to do so (funding, development resources, web standards supporting it, etc.) and their monetization model (which is tied to chromium-based apis and functionality because its a chromium derivative). brave lives as long as chromium (read: google) does. its a google product, no matter how many git repos it p[rocies it procies itself behind.

Tampermonkey does not work. The only way to install 4chanx on chrome is loading the unpacked version of Violentmonkey then installing the Userscript of 4chanx.

FF is pozzed, go for a fork. It bricks stuff with random updates and changes shit to be even more hidden because some twat in the UI department needs to prove why they still need a job. I try not to update, but I'll drop ff soon after the cert debacle a few months ago.

I don't know about Firefox/Chrome but I just compared Mullvad Browser (Firefox fork) with Brave Browser (Chromium fork) using https://browserbench.org/JetStream/ and yeah Brave got a higher score.
However it may just be that Mullvad is more strict in limiting the amount of CPU that may go to the browser in the first place. I don't notice much difference while using them.

Open source Librewolf + open source Violentmonkey + open source uBlock Origin, did work, still works and will work like always.

btw Brave is proprietary browser because it doesn't have reproducible binaries and because of that, the provided source code is 100% unrelated. They also sold user data illegally, stole money from users, modified user's referral links etc. You have proof to not trust them with your data, money or anything else you do with the browser and also it is proprietary non-free closed source black box and you have not a single idea what this shit does on your computer. It is spyware, malware and btw has proven to have multiple keyloggers. If after all of this you still decide to continue using it, you are brain dead cuckslave npc. Nothing more. You also support LGBT throught Google monopoly.

Not only Tor Project, Mullvad is also involved (a ThePiratebay founder).
If you think FBI has undetectable tracking in Tor it probably has no problem tapping into every other American browser. If Tor was as flawed as some think it is it would have revealed with certainty by now.
