One of the gears in my analytical engine is worn out, I suspect it to be because I sourced its fabrication from the orient and they used poor quality iron to forge it.

Does anybody know of reputable foundries with the necessary tools to fabricate a replacement? Please let me know by telegram, or by express mail if there were no telegram available in your township.

Might you be able to say what year you're posting from?

From the current year, of course. I am not some kind of traveler of the ages. That would be preposterous.

Are you able to say?

While I'm not here to force the truth out of you, it's quite all right if you are. I'm not a member of a time travel policing organization. But I understand if you feel the need to be cautious.
>That would be preposterous
It's not uncommon for purported time travelers to access this worldline's Internet. It's just most of them come from the future instead of the past.

Again, while I'm not trying to force you to divulge it, knowing the year you're in might make it easier to assist you.
>I suspect it to be because I sourced its fabrication from the orient
Are you able to say which part of the orient?

Assuming the part is Chinese, you can try the Japanese. That's assuming Japan exists in that worldline and the Japanese have reached the foundry level in their technology tree. In this worldline, the Japanese are known for their engineering prowess. The only thing is their native steel here isn't known for being too strong due to its composition (probably the mineral ratios). Here's an article that may provide some potential context.
