RTX 50 Super rumors: 5070 Ti Super 24GB, 5080 Super 24GB, 5070 Super 18GB

>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: current 9070 prices in the US are too close to the 9070XT's.

>Product Notice
AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor but inconsistent QC.
Bad one causes DisplayHDR setting to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.

Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/update-on-thermal-putty-on-gigabyte-graphics-cards-after-further-storage-oil-separation-to-an-alarming-extent-and-silence-as-a-strategy/

Avoid updating Gigabyte motherboard's RGB controller firmware, as it can disable board features such as Q-Flash Plus.

The only thing that seems to excite me now is intel's GPU division. Radeon doesn't compete for shit with Nvidia (in fact they actually seem borderline complacent) so hopefully arc improves enough to eat into their market share. I really really hate that they're just okay with being nvidia but inferior, they're even copying their pricing strategy :/

Nothing is exciting about Intel Arc, they're just selling area-inefficient GPUs at cost or a loss because there's no other way to attract customers.
That isn't sustainable for R&Ding better GPUs.

The only good news is Intel Arc probably won't be shut down because they need to develop better GPUs to compete against Apple & AMD's mobile SoCs.

idk starting to feel like I might just take the tv pill after all this bullshit, don't know if I can stretch to 55" in size though might actually get too fucking large at that point, but the tvs are superior, and cost more though

>tv is terrible compared to a monitor
in what ways? it's better in everything, except ppi and higher hz now a days, and the fact that no qdoled exists in sub 55" range
>it has tv os that takes screenshots and sends the data to china
keep it offline, firmware updates is good though, also why china when it's koreans?
>its ppi is bad because its so large
same ppi as 27" 1440p
>32" 4k is much better
here we go into subjective opinion again, you can use less scaling more effectively on 42" too
already tried 32"
>the monitors have vastly higher hz
240 vs 144-165 currently, your one legitimate point, you sacrifice size and hdr for more hz

>>105882521
>lg oleds have terrible real scene brightness and the abl on them are overkill
should be better than all current oled monitors, real scene brightness in hdr is like a real 800 nits compared to monitors which are hovering the 400 line
this is before I even consider the 55" tiers which now we are talking 400-500 nits full screen and 2000 nits small window peak

>also woled has washed out colors in HDR.
again should be better than monitors, but yes I would want QD instead but no QD exists past 32 up to 55

>>105882531
that's for esports, this is the opposite
I don't think I would take 1440p high hz over 4k either
idk if I would take 27" over 32" either

G.SKILL Flare X5 Series (AMD Expo) DDR5 RAM 96GB (2X 48GB) 6000MT/s CL30-36-36-96 1.35V Desktop Computer Memory U-DIMM - Matte White (F5-6000J3036F48GX2-FX5W)

Mobo is a MSI MPG X870E EDGE, I am not the ram model in the compatibility site for the mobo which worries me. But 6000 cl 30 is the goal no?

They also have a 64gb 6000 cl28, should I always try to match cl to be half the speed or lower is better?

MPO support allows graphics hardware to compose multiple layers of content into a single image that it can then display on a screen. It's essentially a hardware-accelerated method of compositing different planes of content without having to involve the CPU or use up other system resources to do the blending in software. A plane can be a video, the desktop, an application window, and so on. The hardware can then take these planes and combine them into a single image that is sent to the display. The GPU/System can also gain some power savings as it's using the fixed function hardware rather than the shader engine or CPU.

The anidees AI Raider XL has 12x5.25" bays, and every three of these bays can host the common third-party modules that host 5x3.5" devices (often with a front fan included). There are also 1x5.25 to 4 or 6 2.5" converters. Other combinations are available.

No case is designed for this, it would be less effective. Just mount the rad in top with full length exhaust, three unobstructed fans in front (look at the mounting frame and remove any obstructing parts that are often there to take smaller fans) for maximum front intake. Rear fan and bottom fan are only auxiliary and less efficient, you run into diminishing returns quickly.

>I don't know about the other two but I've heard a few times that the Freezer 36 is more of an Intel cooler than an AMD one.
Ah, yeah, from reviews I've seen, it's always tested on an Intel CPU, so it's hard to tell. But would it not be similar preformance on AMD? Does it matter much? If so I'll skip it. Kind of a shame to do that though because it seems to be pretty good.
>>105885365
>but the Dark Rock 5 is rather expensive
It's like $60. Not too bad, plus I think it looks good, better than other cheaper options.
and not as effective as other cheaper coolers.
I know those Thermalright or ID-Cooling coolers are pretty good and cheaper, but they don't look as good and I'm unsure of the build quality/longevity, though that may be unfounded. As for temperatures, I'm sure the Be Quiet one would be perfectly fine, they all seem to be fairly close performance-wise, just not the price, but I'm willing to spend a bit more to get something I at least think looks better and feel better about the quality and everything.

Then that leaves the Scythe Mugen 6 Dual Fan version. I think it looks pretty cool and has cool packaging, though the performance may not be as good as the others, but it seems good enough and I care more about sound/noise anyway. But I don't know how it sounds. Also iirc it was tested on Intel again, so I don't know how it'll preform on AMD, unfortunately. Also I hate that hole cutout on the cover thing. They should've made it removable so it covers the hole and doesn't have a cutput. That alone makes me not want to but it.

there are 3 pins on those fans: power, ground, and tach
the tach reports the rpm. you can modify the rpm by changing the voltage of the power
a 4th pin is sometimes used for finer control of the fan, especially at very low rpm that you would just not be able to reach by reducing the voltage.
a 2 pin fan would be a fixed speed, power and ground only.

AIOs are more effective, can dissipate more heat more quickly, can have their large part, the radiator, almost anywhere, even outside of the case, premium air coolers are not (much) cheaper, they make for a cramped case, block easy access to headers around the CPU socket, DIMMS etc. and they can't buffer as much heat as a large radiator can, they need to react more quickly to CPU activity by spinning their fans up and down again which creates a nervous and annoying noise pattern even if it's not loud. With a radiator you can put one or two temp sensors in between it's fins and have the fans only react to the rising temperature of the radiator which takes longer and happens much more slowly than with the heat sink of an air cooler resulting in a less annoying noise pattern. This is my personal experience with air coolers and AIOs over several generations.

okay then, but it doesnt look very good. Tiny gpu waterblock, massive pipes, its disjointed, the color scheme is bad, maybe a grey or coloured case would work with the blacks, but white doesnt fit.

What is the price? Decent budget 1440p monitors are going under $200 now. Might as well get one of those if you're space-limited because you lose the "benefits" of UW at such a small size.
Plus 100Hz is an awkward refresh rate. Too low for competitive gaming (though fine for casual/AAA stuff). Also not an integer multiple of 60 or 24, and not high enough to where it doesn't matter, so suboptimal for media.

you dont need to run fans at 2k, with a decent airflow case you can have your intakes running at like 600-700rpm which is basically silent. I have some 140mm silent wings 4 fans running slow like that, and 120s on the air cooler (AK620, 9800x3D which is easy to cool anyway)

if the case has less airflow you need to ramp fans more to get the same result. but i'd start with low fan curves in the bios first, test with games/rtss overlay, then increase the curve if needed.

for example, these are with 2 140mm intakes, 1 exhaust, and the CPU cooler is 2 120s. current/min/max/average:

I did change the fan curve so its around 1000rpm, but the 9800x3d is always 50C at idle now. 2000rpm can only reduce it by 2 degrees so I guess it doesnt matter. What are your CPU temps?

zen 5 idles around that range, my old intel was like 30c but it also didn't have the vcache stacked, plus these chips are made to run at tjmax (90C is normal)

but with the x3Ds you dont even need a high fan curve, otherwise fans will ramp up and down which is annoying. I think my cpu fans peak at 1000-1200rpm? most of the time it's around 800-1000 (silent, 120s silent wings and the ak620 is in the middle of the case basically)

the only time 9800x3D ever draws more than 100w is shader compilation and even then it's like 120W max which is basically nothing. for gaming (ie cyberpunk with path tracing, for testing) it's using like 60-70 watts.

but yeah, CPU fan curve adjust it for noise (no spikes to 2k, it does nothing anyways). fun fact, I did cinebench at stock (1800rpm on the stock ak620 fans) and did it at 1000 rpm max, and the score was basically the same. So, adjust for noise.

NTA but my 9800X3D idles at 42C with a Liquid Freezer II 360 with MX6 paste. I've never seen it dip below 40c at idle it always hovers around 40-45.

but the temps and performance under gaming/productive workloads are insanely good, so it's fine. I still cant believe how little power it uses and can still beat intels drawing 300. vcache is good stuff.

My brand new Zotac 5060Ti sounds like a HDD.
Any ideas why it makes crunchy noises under load? Scrolling 4chan and moving objects in Fusion360 makes it crunch.

I don't think there are any AIB fanboys, they just have a shit rep. For the fans in particular. I've owned one myself, and it was indeed garbage, so I won't be risking it again.

After a certain point the bottleneck is the heat transfer from the spreader to the cold plate of your cooler and then to the medium towards the heatsinks (heat pipes or liquid coolant). Having the fans work harder means you have slightly colder returning water and so it can lower temps, but only by so much.

Zotac got a bad rep for scalping RTX 30 cards back in the COVID-19 lockdown.
I'd say only Gigabyte shit the bed this gen because of their thermal gel bullshit.

Try to OC + undervolt that card, it might lessen the coil whine if that's causing the noise.
Set a +120~150MHz offset for the GPU core curve on Afterburner to OC it.
Follow the video guide below to set a voltage cap anywhere between 925~950mV.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPpW9yXHvOU
The link below is a written guide; you need to save the OC profiles. You can also set it to apply on Windows bootup (stability test before applying this).
https://github.com/LunarPSD/NvidiaOverclocking/blob/main/Nvidia%20Overclocking.md

If you don't want to do the undervolt thing, you can set a lower power limit (around 140~150W) after you OC'd the core curve.

Check if there's any debris near/inside the fan shroud, use an air duster (hold the fan(s) in place).
