>Why have wayland apologists been so aggressive lately?
The whole corporate Linux apparatus has been scrambling to put out as much noise as possible to drown out the undeniable fact that Canonical (the ubuntu guys) has been exposed as harboring, covering and protecting pedophiles, sexual predators and abusers, employing them not just behind the scenes but as literal "faces" of their corporation in summits and presentations, sending them across the entire US without telling anyone that they are literal violent felons that cannot be trusted with vulnerable people around.

The big wigs at redhat are upset about the X11 fork (XLibre) and are engaging in a concerted effort to anti-competitively bully deviants for their protocols to save maintenance costs. The ecosystem is easier to control when everyone gets in line and having DEs with different flavors of compositors is getting in the way of that. The same was happening with the push for systemd when they forced that down everyone's throats.

Make no mistake, though. This effort is not a genuine grassroots. It's entirely astroturfed, driven by corporate interests.

I use NixOS and monitored how the takeover went last year. The invaders seemed to have infinite time to try to talk over and discredit anyone trying to discuss things logically. They tried to limit who had a voice by only allowing people with commits to talk. They wanted people to use their real names. They took fairly levelheaded posts and accused them of sealioning and other shit I'd never heard of before as an excuse to ban those accounts. They tried to stuff the project leadership by demanding DEI spots. Lots of them. It was hard to even keep up with the flood of posts they made... I'm not sure they did anything else during that period. They didn't have control of /r/nixos, so of course they wouldn't listen to anything posted there. It was awful. I've seen this behavior repeated since then, and it's definitely happening with xlibre. They are truly hostile and petty people.

Because they're taking serious heat, getting caught gaslighting people, getting caught raping their sisters, getting caught sabotaging a core piece of the Linux desktop for a decade.

These people are sexually deviant, and have serious power complexes. Clinical narcissism is just the fucking beginning, like what we've seen with Bichta.

A core piece of understanding what the actual fuck is going on is actually understanding that guy. Understand that Canonical both knew about his actions and have decided to defend him. A dude who literally sexually tortured his 7 year old sisters (and more) like they were in a fairly hardcore BDSM scene.

This is the level of narcissism we are dealing with, this is the level of FUCK YOU, DO AS I SAY we are dealing with. Imagine that for every Bichta in corporate Linux, you have say, three more that are 75% as bad. Five more that are half as bad. Ten more that are "just" your garden variety narcissist.

You guys REALLY need to start understanding more psychology.

Same thing happened to multiple projects I've been working on since the 90s. Always the same tactics use. Demand everyone use real name. Try to dig up anything you can about their pasts. Claim any opposition is trolling/wrongthink/personal attacks. Make everything about politics or other non-issues. Kick out any long term contributors using any method possible. Gain moderator/admin positions over all discussion channels (mailing lists, forums, reddit, and even /g/ threads) then ban everyone that doesn't agree with you. Gain control over whatever CVS the project uses and start requiring dox to send code. Submit and demand CoC be enforced (usually based on that geek feminism one) then when people speak out ban them for being bigots. Set up "committees" or other political structure, claim they're a democracy but then make decisions in private.

They did this to Gentoo and they've done it to FreeBSD. Along with many other software projects I've either contributed to or was the original creator of. I was BDFL over one big project and I got run out of my own project for something I said on a mailing list 20 years ago and because I refused to hand over my dox. I made the stupid mistake of trying to be less involved 15 years ago and allowing group of trusted contributors to set up a foundation. I lost control over the foundation and the project. I looked away for 2 years to deal with life and when I came back to send code I wasn't allowed to contribute to my own creation anymore. Now a major tech company pretty much owns it but they still claim it's FOSS. I'm not even allowed to post on the mailing list anymore.

But people are having a shit flinging competition about it somehow now. I hear trannies left and right, jews, some more jews, faggots, pedophiles, jews and pedophiles at the same time. What has so thoroughly kicked the /g/ nest that an obsolete graphical stack being replaced by a better one, on the explicit wish of the X.Org devs in fucking 2014, somehow make you all lose your minds.

This recent buzzing has NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING to do with the Xorg drama besides being a smokescreen for something wild.
Some actual violent sex offender and diddler is being employed by canonical, they have ACKnowledged it, but say they won't do shit about it.
Trannies are running counter-intel like crazy to drown it out. <- This is where the Xorg drama comes in
No one on YT is covering it. If you mention it on here, the thread will be pruned. All out shitshow.

kf -> community watch -> Open Source -> page 401 / post 8015 (story first breaks); page 411 / post 8211 (canonical admitting to it and telling everyone to pound sand).

The implications being grave.

A lot of people are naturally friendly and try to not upset people. They aren't used to this kind of behavior and don't know how to react to it. Most of these people will silently move on if things get awkward. Hopefully before things get too bad a line will be crossed and people will push back. I don't really think that'll happen, but sometimes surprising things happen.

because there's no way to move forward with xorg/x11 and it reached the point where it drags everyone down. you schizos are just a small vocal local minority gang, basically lgbt equivalent of computing; the same schizogang who complained about systemd back in time, yet shipped zero real software (that's why you have no real influence in this matter btw). so like before with the systemd, you're gonna have no choice but to take yet another L. remember, your resistance is futile and you will be ultimately forced to bend the knee and take it raw, while telling everyone that you were actually never against all these changes.

the idea that you have to move forward is a fallacy. eventually a project is complete and beyond the occasional bug fix there is nothing that needs to be done.
X is complete, you can argue about minor features like HDR but whatever.
The problem is X as it is now is not fit to purpose for Red Hat or whatever company is using it. That is despite the fact it might be fit for purpose for many other people.
Since the corporations control linux and the world of the gpl they decide what goes in the trash regardless of how well you might like it.
and that is the illusion of freedom the gpl provides. sure the code is free but you are not free to use it as you like in the world and they will use the gpl to create a prison.
is it still a prison if you can see how the bars are made? of course

Sad. A lot of people said the XLibre project shouldn't have included the DEI or "make x great again" remarks since it alienates the "I just wanna grill" types and makes the project a target, but you really absolutely do have to keep the freaks away from your project in any way possible. Otherwise, they slowly infiltrate the project, accumulate influence, and then eventually bully all the meek neutral people into backing their takeover. If that doesn't work, then they'll find other ways to snuff a project out, which is certainly what is going on with XLibre right now. They're going to do everything in their power to sabotage the project going forward. I imagine most distros will refuse to package it.

>But the Wayfags would've found some reason to attack them.
True.
>He just gave them some free ammo.
I think it was probably worth handing over some ammo in exchange for hardening the project against their typical infiltration tactics. Not only does it dissuade them from joining the project, but it also means that even if they attempt to, the project has been flooded with hyper-vigilant chuds who will sniff them out. So, now they have to kill it from the outside rather than the inside.
