>News & Rumors
RTX 50 Super rumors: 5070 Ti Super 24GB, 5080 Super 24GB, 5070 Super 18GB

>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: current 9070 prices in the US are too close to the 9070XT's.

>Product Notice
AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor, but inconsistent QC.
Bad one causes DisplayHDR setting to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.

Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/update-on-thermal-putty-on-gigabyte-graphics-cards-after-further-storage-oil-separation-to-an-alarming-extent-and-silence-as-a-strategy/

Avoid updating Gigabyte motherboard's RGB controller firmware, as it can disable board features such as Q-Flash Plus.

The number of VRMs has nothing to do with "power stability", the correct term is load balancing.

ASRock GPUs are fine.
9070 XT Taichi is good even with the 12V-2x6 connector because it has a maximum power limit of around 405W.
The connector has more than 1.5x safety margin at that max load.

You'd have a point if the display/visual glitches were only happening to 4090/5090 with uneven current distribution.
They're two separate issues.
I don't have much sympathy for 4090/5090 owners because most of them knew what they were getting into.
The 4090 owners could've sold their card above their purchase price.

soon, and retards like you will defend it, you'll have mandatory online accounts to even be able to use your gpu, mandatory internet connection or your shit won't boot, and you'll pay a monthly subscription to "boost" your GPU performance. and morons like you will justify it as good.

NVIDIA will tell them to deal with the current balancing on the PSU end.

Because old video cards had shitter GPU boost algorithms, the newer cards automatically boost near the card's maximum potential.
The RTX 50 is a big exception because they left enough performance for the Super cards that will stay on the same tier of GPU.

yea HDD's fail a lot, but failure is actually good when you have raid, it keeps you aware and ready for backing up your data.
unless you have a really strong need to prevent data loss (fancy raid) or you 100% don't care about data loss, the price of HDD's pretty much matches up with SSD's in value, unless you go for like 16tb.
Just be aware that SSD's (as well as most electronics including HDD's) tend to have high infant mortality rates, so in the first year or so you have a high chance of the SSD dying.
Also the one thing SSD's are terrible at, is frequent overwrites, which is funny because SSD's are always used as the OS drive which is frequently overwritten (AND most people buy a new SSD while having 90% health remaining), but servers like to use SSD's as caches because it's fast but they tend to burn the lifespan of the SSD's a lot quicker (The TBW rating, and it's usually not hardware failure, the firmware will lock the ssd to read only when the TBW is reached, at least that's what happened to my 240gb ssd 10 years ago).
In reality hardware failure is not the most common source of data loss, it's usually user error.

Actually, I do. RT/PT render loads are more stressful to the GPU compared to pure rasterized scenes.
That's why the world's best overclockers have to downclock their 9070 XT when setting RT/PT records.
Some of those recorded boost clocks are probably clock-stretching as well.

for your use case, you could just stick to a 2tb nvme, optionally with a usb adapter to make it easy to share movies with people, and just swap it out when you run out.
I already know there are issues with this approach (you want plex or you want a single drive for everything), but personally I don't really spend any time rewatching anything.
The only reason you are getting 10tb is because HDD's only start being attractive at 10tb, but it's really not necessary depending on how many gigs you download per day. If you downloaded 1 gig per day, 2tb is going to last you years.
(and plus, I like copying movies onto people's PC's, it's not ideal but some people just have a terrabyte of free space and I have a relatively small collection of movies since I don't like blueray rips)

Altering the GPU's power & voltage limits through hardware modifications is an XOC.
And you're grossly overstating the benefits of those mods when 9070 owners just need to flash a compatible 9070XT vBIOS and manually tune the V/F in Adrenaline to get most of the gains (153 FPS vBIOS flash vs. 165 FPS HW modded).
Buildzoid also acknowledges that those extra FPS could be attributed to his better OC'd CPU & memory setup compared to Dave's.

You are the retard, you are not drawing the correct conclusion from the video you posted.

The 9070 just needs a compatible 9070 XT vBIOS to get most of that hardware-modded performance.
The remaining 7~8% average FPS difference could be attributed to better-tuned CPU & memory, noted by Buildzoid himself.
It's almost a guarantee Buildzoid's test bench is better tuned than Dave's.

You're altering the information inside that IC, there is no soldering involved.
You can download a 9070 XT vBIOS, that is a software.

Every time I turn on my gaming PC, it bluescreens and crashes before booting up, and the issue repeats in a loop. you are altering the hardware (the bios chip), and you lose your warranty. if you do a warranty claim with that altered bios you'll get denied because you MODIFIED YOUR GPU. same as soldering on it. if you have to open up your GPU and connect external electronics to it, that's a hardware mod for me. you lose the warranty, you connect stuff to it, and you permanently alter it.
with software OC, you click on a window and set your values and that's it, it's overclocked. no GPU teardown required. plug it into PC once, configure in software.

And he wasn't certain whether all of that 8% difference was due to the hardware mod or his CPU & memory config.

i have a 5700x3d, what bios settings should i enable to optimize its performance, if any? ive been playing with this cpu on a 2020 bios and i didn't realize just how much performance i was leaving on the table by not updating. i recently updated to a 2025 bios update and multiplayer games literally gained 20-30 extra fps. so i wonder if there's anything else i should do on the bios for it to have optimal performance on my specific cpu that uses that extra 3d cache

Done just that beforehand, though it is still on a version from 2024 for the X470 GP Max. Might go ahead and update to AGESA ComboAm4v2PI 1.2.0.E to see if it does anything, though seeing as previous BSoD codes include 0x00000133 it might not be that to blame for all I know or could make things worse somehow.

Using G.Skill Rip Jaws V 3200/CL16 kits, first kit is 16+16 and the other is 32+32 but this was never an issue until now, might take out one of the kits though since I got a league race coming up and I'd hate to bluescreen (or blackscreen in my case) during it.
>run a memtest + prime95 on stock bios settings
I've run Prime95 to test CPU stability at lower voltages and clocks multiple times, though after I've reset it won't go above 800 MHz on all cores during Small FFT's whereas before it'd pin the CPU. Not sure why, don't think it's the power plan though since installing the chipset stuff changed nothing.

Within 8% of an ASUS Prime 9070 XT vBIOS flash, which has sub 370W maximum power limit.
Buildzoid's test system with a 9700X and the modded 9070 was drawing over 700W of total system power in Time Spy & 600W during that Cyberpunk benchmark.

Sub 8% gain (because Buildzoid has better CPU & memory tuning) for all that extra power is a waste.

degrade in cpu context means it cant run same voltages as it used to so you need to increase to compensate or decrease the clock.

ryzen in particular is very picky about vsoc. its like a radio frequency. too low\high and you get static and drop outs. just right and you get clear music.

Before the advent of Ryzen and very recent Intel CPUs (13th/14th gen), CPUs where about as close to bullet proof as you could reasonably ask for.
Not to say CPUs never degraded but it usually very extreme cases like certain boards overvolting CPUs (eg Asus HEDT boards) or just OCed to death CPUs in general.
Generally if you weren't OCing, you never doubted the CPU when you did have an issue with system instability, it was literally anything else.

Kinda makes me weep at how problematic anything can be nowadays. You can just use systems as intended with zero OC (not even XMP/Expo) and have CPUs degrade.

they made it impossible to tweak software until you get full control. these days normies don't give a fuck about any of that. all prebuilt users are completely clueless and cannot really absorb any bit of extra information, let alone tweaking shit.
the problem is they made it impossible for any length of effort via software. if they didn't fully lock it down it would be fine, some maniacs would still do it while most people wouldn't give a fuck if it's too technical, even if only software.

these days, social media is infested with paid shills protecting corporations interests. posing as "normal users" such as yourself, constantly tweaking and altering the conversation such that corporation interests are preserved. and almost everyone is completely oblivious about this, they think they are talking, and getting advice from regular people. when you pieces of shit are shills.

Intel makes the least profit out of the gaming GPU designers; go support them.

Those 8-phase 60A DrMOS for the 9070 GPU aren't reliable enough to handle its transients when you're talking about +500~600W of sustained power draw.
70A DrMOS ICs (with 18 GPU phases) in the 3080/Ti & 3090 Strix were dying from sub-500W transients (sub-450W sustained loads).

The power supplies didn't protect the DrMOS on the higher-end RTX 30 cards from slowly degrading from all those transient spikes.
These boards aren't set up to handle the higher levels of transients when the card is drawing 500~600W of power.

The 30 series was dying of asymmetric VRM loading, not necessarily because of transients.
If the VRM was proper, you would have less incidents of components dying even with the same mosfets.

the mosfets are not allowed to be commercialized you dumbfuck. any electronic part is required to sustain it's maximum load. for example electrolytic caps are required to keep their specs at maximum operating temp for the number of hours they are speccd for.
mosfets are also required to sustain the maximum advertised current capability, provided THERE IS ADEQUATE COOLING. if they fuck up the cooling, they'll melt the fuck down. or improper assembly.
again, parts meet their advertised spec or it's fake advertising. you cannot sell them as 50A parts and say "well you know, let's call it 25A max because shit happens".
and again, this discussion is not that, it's about "your traitorous kind", defending corporation slop, being clueless pieces of shit, and saying false stupid shit with authority such that the retards believe your bullshit.

Except transient current spikes can exceed the advertised current rating, and is proven to kill the ICs.
The limit in the image is for a 70A DrMOS, the 50/60A ICs in the 9070 have even lower maximum current limits.

For you? If you have to ask, no.
Relative to MSRP? If it's one of those fancy AIB cards with three (3) fans, $600 premium isn't that bad.
For a reference card? No.
In general? It's aight, but I wouldn't rush out to buy it.
>>105893630
The general cope is that you can spend $3,000 on these cards and then magically make your money back. Which is not that simple and not a single person gives a specific example of what to do because there isn't one. You end up jerking off to your imaginary AI waifu and then get bored of it and realize you wasted all that money. At least you have that VRAM and raw rasterization performance though.

You're not stupid, that's the hardware budget.
Switch 2 shows console gamers don't demand state-of-the-art hardware.
Sony will probably target 4K 60FPS with FSR4/5 upscaling.

The CPU is going to be a massive improvement from a mobile Ryzen 3800.
Sony can't price out normies, especially when they're relying more on MTX revenue.
I don't expect it to cost more than $700.

>>105895655
yes you're stupid. The cpu-limitations on both the xbox and ps5 are bad, they need to be way stronger so that FSR and frame gen works due to the additional cpu overhead. I recall some testers for the ps5-pro found that there was already noticeable cpu-bottlenecks found with certain games.

The next console gen will be very expensive, the high price of the switch 2 is testament to that, it'll still be the cheapest of the 3, assuming XBOX releases a new console at all.

Not so fast, /r/amd_stock and MLID coming in with the truth nvke:
>Basily info from a recent MLID episode linked by the article.
>Sony's upcoming PlayStation 6, powered by AMD's next-gen Zen 5 CPU and UDNA GPU architecture, promises performance twice as fast as the PS5 Pro, enabling 4K 120FPS and 8K 60FPS gaming with advanced ray tracing and AI. It aims to be the most powerful console by 2027.
>Grand Theft Auto 6 arrives in 2026 and will showcase the power inside of Sony's beefed-up PS5 Pro console, but if Sony can drop the next-gen PS6 in 2027, then they'll have the most powerful console ever made to run the biggest game of all time at (let's hope) 4K 120FPS.

If you just want an 8-core CPU for gaming, a 7700X is the more economical choice.
You don't need to buy an X870E board if you're not going to use all the extra PCIe lanes & USB options.

This one's fine if you need/want USB4, but read the spec sheet's fine print regarding the bandwidth limitations

is removing dust filter mesh from front intake on a PC a good idea if the mesh obstructs airflow of the front fans anyway?

other than qt scaling pissing me off xfce is nice looking and uses gtk with dark mod and i still get apt repositories. starts with light dm now and all around i think its pretty clean took a while to configure but i can move around faster in xfce4 when you click a task open on panel it opens click it again it closes

what would you guys recommend disable or delete next? how much bloat can i get rid of? how much can i change before its not ubuntu anymore? or rather, what linux distro would you guys recommend wand exactly why you use it?

i really like apt repositories. the software is always in there soo you can really utilize the apt search with grep and actually get software in under a minute, no package manager needed.
why must i change everything about the system am i just becoming an arch user?

i might ask you guys to redpill me on a new system because im still a bit of a noob ngl.
