I've been waiting five days for my group buy keyboard that I ordered last week. Still haven't heard anything. Do they always take this long?
https://www.modelfkeyboards.com/
Get a Model F
>>105891890Good luck waiting 5 years
>>105891938Did you get that $5 in the end for shilling those boards?
Just got this bad boy, it's pretty nice
I just got via working on linux, feeling good
Nothing feels better than shilling a good product. Nothing. When someone says "I'm convinced, I ordered one," and I know $0 has been added to my account, what an amazing feeling.
>>105892075I got 5 replacement springs but I have to pay $100 for the shipping :^)
Is there anyone that Makes a dummy/inert cap that doesn't actually press a particular key in
>>105893046How would this be different from just programming a key to do nothing
>>105893145Easier to take the cap off and put a regular one back on when I need it
You all have any recs for really good tactile+silent (or clicky but still fairly quiet) switches? I was using a Model F for several years and loved it, but now that I'm living with someone, it was way too loud for them.
Current board has Boba U4 (silent version) switches, and they're nice, but bucking springs have spoiled me. I know I'll never get that same tactile feel on a non-buckling-spring switch, but I wanna try out a handful of other silent tactile switches. Are there any alternatives to the Boba U4 you all recommend?
>>105893354Silent Topre is the way to go. Feels way better than Boba
>just got my new Keychron K10 Max with red switches in the mail
>open it up, it feels like a fucking weapon, heavy and extremely solid
>keys are buttery smooth, nifty LED backlighting with like 20 different modes
>and they don't wobble like my previous Corsair K70 or WASD VP3
Feels fucking good man. Thanks to everyone who recommended this thing, it's a beast.
>>105892351got a Keychron myself, they are pretty nice, have fun bro
>makes you not enjoy using regular keyboards anymore
sad!
I got a drunkdeer g75 to replace my keychron v1 as it started to have key chatter and missed inputs across various keys (i literally have no idea what caused this, keyboard was very clean) The hall effect stuff feel pretty nice. I can type much faster on this thing as well, without dropping inputs like i did on the keychron.
>>105894472This looks like uncomfortable socks
>>105894472Are curved key wells just a meme or are they actually that good?
>>105894225I've heard many good things about the Topre switches, but haven't tried them yet, I'll give them a go, thanks for the recommendation anon. Do you find you prefer the 45g over the 30g? (30 seems like it'd be a bit too light)
>>105894825Curved columns are pretty nice. Reduces how much your finger has to travel between rows. Just makes it more comfortable imo. I wouldn't want to switch back to a flat board even if it was a split columnar staggered one.
>>105894472I really want a charybdis keyboard but the Aliexpress stores that I'm seeing dont have the exact feature set I want, 4ร6 wireless with hot swap in clear resin. Is there a specific place i could request one custom? Also "keyboard kit" just means pre-soldered with no keycaps or switches right?
>>105894893im almost about to fall for the meme, did you hand solder wires or get a flexible PCB? i want a 40% but with a 4 key long pinky column and i dont think there are any PCBs for that being sold, i've hand soldered before so im not so against it anyways
>>105895463I use my own PCBs, and I can make small dactyls like that with them too, a 4th row for the pinky column should be no problem either. Picrel is old though, my PCBs are black now.
>>105891589 (OP)hmm, so I have an aluminium case keeb. I can plate it with copper I think.
RGB backlit with non-translucent keycap is cool or no?
>>105895505ah very nice, did you follow a guide for making the PCB? im mostly worried about how i would match the switch holes up to the plate, did you make the microcontroller port yourself also or is that something you can buy?
>>105895585I used ai03's guide when I first started yea. There are other good ones of course. The PCBs are designed for my fork of the dactyl & vice versa, here:
https://github.com/carbonfet/dactyl-manuform
Yea, the MCU is my own too. I have plenty of them if you want a PCB set.
there is absolutely no reason for spacebar to be that fucking long
>>105896202Correct. It's a hold-over from a 150+ year old machine, same with row staggering and qwerty.
>>105895681Is RP2040 still the go to MCU for custom keebs or did we already find something more fancy?
>>105896216There are other options like whatever flavor of STMF072 is QMK compatible. I chose the RP2040 mostly because it's pretty cheap, and I can put way, way more memory on it than an atmega32u4 (16Mbit in my case).
>>105896202You are like little baby.
>>105894893What's your e-mail again? I took the split ergo pill and now want to try dactyl manuforms.
>>105895523If you are Chinese and the keyboard has some kind of translucent case, yes
>>105896718dactylman at protonmail.com
>>105894472This kind of thing is so cool to me. You use these with your feet?
>>105893242...easier than reprogramming a key in VIA?
Are there any good keyboards with neat little screens that are wired? I really like neat little screens but all the keyboards I've seen with them are wireless.
>>105896734might have to try that out now that I'm very used to typing on it with my hands

wow............. this has never happened with other sets. what a piece of shit

>>105893046Just snip the pins on that switch.
>>105896787>RIP, GMK laser?Yep. Set from 2021.I'm gonna have to put my old wasd set from like 2012 back on.
>>105896807I'd try supergluing it at least, and if that doesn't work emailing GMK in case they have any extras laying around.

>>105896820I did and when I put it on it split again. it's become brittle
>>105894980I dunno anon I just ordered the pre-built. Plus they do custom hand sizing which I thought was a really good added feature for something like this. They do have a 4x6 config with wireless & hot swap, but no clear case. Plus I'm sure they are significantly more expensive than aliexpress
>>105891589 (OP)Is there any ultra small foldable bluetooth mechanical keyboard, I'd like one for my DIY setup.
>>105896860If you have a soldering iron you could try carefully melting the seams together, ABS melts around 250C. Wouldn't be pretty even if it works though.
>>105896303at that point just put switches under the desk legs and press on the whole desk for space
>>105896860Just put the set on a board that has costar stabs so you can glue the costar stab to the keycap
>>105897085XT isn't a space saving layout.

>>105895681thank you for the info
>>105863225the fully made qwertykey boards are just dropshipped stuff, right?
>>105863214there are some beautiful places, just don't visit when it's winter and there's no snow
>>105894472I never enjoyed regular keyboards to begin with
>>105894472Wake me up when they use plastic injection or metal cases.
>>10590171180% of the time, yes.
Anyone try the Asterisk shorthand keyboard?
>>105896252Oh, i meant more as in we finally made some keeb specific risc-v chip or so. Nothing against 2040 per se.
Should I get a Nuphy Air75/96 V2, or a Nuphy Air 75 HE? Both fit within my budget, I type a lot but don't game competitively (only casual single player), wireless is nice to have but I can live with HE being wired-only. All else being equal I prefer quieter switches, but mostly just want a really good damn low-profile keyboard.
>>105900166 (me)
Should I get the DrunkDeer A75 Pro? It fits within my budget and has what I need. I don't really game a lot other than CS, and I type a lot. I need one to replace my current keyboard.
>>105904062I have one, its not really worth it. Too hard to type on you can't feel anything. Anything with thumb clusters should be good though. I have four steno boards now and they are all about the same.
i've settled on the realforce rc1 but i'm still debating 30g or 45g domes
>>105908368You fucked up (45g)
I paid $150 for my Leopold keyb but honestly enjoying it, feels like it's the 90s again. Funnily enough back then I didn't like the clackety clack and was a huge fan of membrane keyboards when they turned up
>>105908477>You fucked uphow do you figure
>>105908522I still prefer membrane keyboards because they're almost perfectly quiet, but the desktop options for membrane keyboards are surprisingly torrid these days. Either cheap aliexpress trash, or overly engineered and pricey wireless only trash.
>>105908917Good thing you can get mechanical boards which are just as, if not more, quiet than a regular rubber dome board these days.
>>105908522We're keeping real keyboards alive, brother, that's what it's all about
Has anyone detransitioned from split yet? I want to hear their stories
is there a typing test with an adversarial mode?
>>105894840nta, but if you are used to 45g mechanical switches 30g is much closer feeling wise to that.
If you play games I would also recommend 30g.
If you use it for purely typing get 45g, even 55g.
Just keep in mind there might be some adjustment period because the distribution of the force is quite a bit different from a normal mechanical switch.
>>105909078I mean that it targets letters/clusters that you're weakest at
>>105909103If there is one like that I've never heard of it.
Is it me or realforce pbt keycaps are just built different. Most pbt keycaps I have tried feel hollow even if they are thick. While these are not the thickest, the plastic just feels much more dense and robust?
>>105907068Makes sense. It has one trick up its sleeve - it's a silent kb.
>>105909103Try keybr. You can set a target speed for yourself and it will feed you words with letters that you type slower than that targeted speed. By default you don't have all letters unlocked but you can unlock all letters in the settings.
>>105909103I think you can use custom files with typing of the dead.
So like tab over to a text editor and type out whatever ones you miss.
Not an automated process, but not hard either
Just realized I type wrong because of my fat ass belly blocking my hand from reaching over to the left to get to the homerow of my xboxhueg full-size keyboard which sits way to my left to accommodate my big gamer mousepad
this is why I keep using my ring finger as a crutch and neglecting proper pinky usage
Is it worth it to mod a regular keyboard to low profile?
My current keyboard height is 2cm from the top of the keycap to the base of the keyboard. If i get low profile switches and keycaps would it become less than 1cm?
>>105910317You can't just swap out regular MX switches for low profile ones. The pinout and switch spacing is different, requiring a different PCB.
>>105910326For the longest time i thought it's possible as long as it's outemu
Mine is outemu red, and there's like low profile outemu low profile red and outemu ultra low profile red. The switch seller told me my keyboard can use the low profile red but not the ultra low.
>>105904873Nuphy Air 75 HE is great. I'm typing on one right now. It feels amazing to type on, and the switches aren't too loud.
>>105908522Which switches and which layout?
wowee just got the email saying my model f is on its way...so close
>>105908613You fell for the topre realforce meme
>>105910903Get ready for self-repair
>>105911300he did say that so i'm prepared...at least a little.
Except for PCB mount, are there any other situations where you cannot use a 3 pin switch?
best keyboard for changing the built-in layout? I use Workman
>>105911514Anything that runs QMK.
>>105911521Are any of the cheap ones nonshit?
>>105911424Let me know when you can't fix it and decide to sell it off to recoup losses
>>105912126ehh i'm a glass half full kind of guy. but if it comes down to it i'll be sure to post about it here
>>105911743https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-v6-qmk-custom-mechanical-keyboard
I wouldn't go cheaper than that. Shipping is 20$ but you can find them in some big tech store chains nowdays.
>>105895523its all good as long as you like it, I usually turn them all off
I bought some cheap chink keyboard (Redragon K606), I wanted to remap capslock to fn key, but producer hasn't release software for my specific version, found this github repo https://github.com/octenite/redragonKB-remap but it requires specific mapping file that is supposed to be distributed with software, so it wont do, tried to use KeyTweak, but there is no option to remap key to fn.
Is there some software that could help me?
after using razer junk and steelseries dogshit all my life I finally went ahead and bought a custom keyboard. after 4 years of using a barely functioning dropped apex 7. Got the Keychron Lemokey p1 pro for 115 after tax and free shipping from Amazon prime day. it'll be here tomorrow.
>>105912832I'm quite dumb regarding mechanical keyboard stuff, but isnt this just middleware that is supposed to convert whatever keyboard is sending, rather than affecting what is keyboard is sending?
If so this wont work, as that function key "works" inside of firmware and it is not being sent back to PC, thats why I said that KeyTweak doesnt work for me.
>>105912924You're right, but simply changing caps lock to fn won't work. You will have to program all key fn shortcuts that you want in the software/hardware.
>>105913022So basically my option would be to use something like windows power tools or something similar and just do remap capslock + d = right arrow?
>>105910556Thanks, decided to go for it. I know there's probably very little difference between the switches, but went for the pricier ones anyway. Liked the sound just a tiny little bit more on the recordings, no idea if I'd notice the pressing force difference.
what's a good keyboard for maximum comfort that's under $75
>>105914489keychrons are really nice. just choose a model you like since they have like 1000 different layouts for ergo.
>>105914489nvm i mean under $50
>>105895523It's more visible in the dark than no backlight, sure.
>>105915531It's actually not, normally to light will reflect upon your legends so you could see them easily but with backlit it will prevent that
I've tried it myself
>>105915802How does that make sense? I meant in the dark as in at night and with the lights off. Even if there's some blinding effect that makes you unable to see the legends, being able to see the outline of the keyboard in total is still enough to inform touch typists where their hands should be.
Man I can't imagine not knowing how to touch type after living this long.
Why do none of you idiots have a desk lamp? Why are you using your computer in the dark far away enough from your monitor that there is no light on the keyboard?
>>105915838I was talking about visibility of the legends and that's it, I'm not going to argue with you about outline or ability to touch typing
>>105915999Good ol cherry time
>>105915877OLED immersion.
>>105916005>>105916008Used it for 40 minutes, so far nothing too wrong with it. Would prefer the keys to be angled a little higher from top to bottom and kind of wish the keycaps themselves were a little bigger but I like it. Especially the brown switches, feels responsive but without the loud noises
Don't like the cherry button though, its probably going to piss me off at some point
>>105916576>Don't like the cherry button thoughDon't worry, you will eventually after chasing and wasting money on fotm switches
>>105916576>RGB shitInto the trash it goes.
>>105916674mx2a pc top are pretty nice, they are even a little bit smoother than normal mx2a
>>105916631How is it fotm if they've been good for years?
>>105915999>cherryel no sabe jajaja kek
>>105892351>>105894340I'm considering getting a K3 as first proper mechanical kb as upgrade for my Logitech G915 TKL.
Propietary Logitech switches fucking suck and replacement keycaps are nowhere to be found.
The only thing holding me back atm is that apparently keychron keycaps (at least the low-profile ones) aren't backlit; there's only lighting around the keys.
Any decent way to get around this? Or should I just bite the bullet because YAGNI?
>>105909002Used a Corne (split 40%) for about two years. Some of the issues I had were just because I had too few keys, not because it was split. My thoughts:
It's true what they say about how they make regular keyboards feel worse, but splits come with their own issues. On regular boards, you may perform inputs that don't make ergonomic sense but are still useful anyways (like using your left hand to hit M to mute a video or check an in-game map while your mouse hand is occupied, or using your mouse thumb to hit NumEnter). Splits force you to adapt to a new layout that's more ergonomically sound, but may compromise functionality since you're operating in the realm of special cases. Something like a Lily58 would be easier to adapt to, but you can forget about making anything sub-50% into a general purpose keyboard that covers any use case you throw at it, unless you want to rebind every program you use to suit your keyboard (an idiot trap).
>Ctrl + Alt + F12>Ctrl + Shift + ]>Win + Alt + LeftArrow>Ctrl + Win + Numpad6>Alt + Shift + PgDnAll pretty easy and intuitive on a fullsize since one layer + modifiers covers all, and I can even do most of them one-handed without needing to cycle layers. (the most underrated thing about unibody boards IMO)
>inb4 "I never need those hotkeys"Until you do, and your options are switching keyboards like a literal cuckold, or going through the humiliation ritual of re-flashing.
And even if my listed examples don't apply, there certainly will be a time when you need something your hyperspecialized keyboard can't provide.
I liked my split, it was great to type on, but I'm not sure it's for me. I mostly just appreciate how it taught me the best applications of QMK. I'd only recommend split to those who can't solve their ergonomic problems with posture adjustments, stretches, and breaks.
>>105917337They sell some models with shine through, can't remember the names out of the 1000s of them but they don't for the most part because shine through caps are a little thinner and don't feel as nice. Honestly just invest in 10-20 dollar shine through keycaps and keep the old stock keycaps as backups. There are some ok looking low profile keycaps on amazon.
>>105917373What are the magic keywords to search for these things? And what should I look out for?
I'm new to mechanical keyboards
>>105917386keyword: low profile PBT shine through keycaps
don't get the full size ones, any brand works especially if they make keyboards like wormier or xvx. I personally like xvx but they don't make a lot of low profile keycaps.
>>105917412Thank you, based anon.
Considering I come from a G915 TKL and am looking at a K3 Max (75%), any other kb brands or models I should be aware of?
>>105917424If you like 75% keyboards then check out the Keychron Lemokey p1 pro. It's their gamer brand and it's basically a q1 max with a different gasket design for 100 bucks cheaper. I own it and it's a really nice board. and built like a tank. They go on sale regularly for like 110.
https://www.lemokey.com/products/lemokey-p1-qmk-via-custom-gaming-keyboard
>>105917453Thanks
Also what is it with keychron and their obsession with knobs?
>>105917475knobs are a nice feature that i actively look for since it makes adjusting volume and muting volume satisfying and precise. i use for PC on my TV with a soundbar so it's great instead of reaching for a remote so i'm glad they have knobs on most of their keyboards lmao
>>105917475They are retarded
>>105917361Thanks for the reply. I had a feeling the keymapping would be a big problem. But there are bigger split boards, and more keys will ofc alleviate some of those problems.
Do hall effect wireless dactyls exist yet?
>>105921081No, probably won't exist unless you want to do it yourself.
what's the cheapest board with hotswappable switches and numpad?
this fucking board i swear i have to relearn how to touch type on it i'm down from 80 to sub 30 wpm

But I fucking love the design of this thing. I've seen it in a shop and tried and I love it both the design and the feel. I could downgrade to something thats half as cheap and still with a great design but a less preferable layout but I don't know

Need some help.
Have month old wave 75 pro, have 2 weeks old Gateron Baby Kangaroo 2.0 switched installed into it.
Have some chattering keys. What are the chances my pcb is fucked? What are the chances switches are fucked? Gonna gather statistics for some more time before moving switches around
>>105894840>45g over the 30gOn my stock HHKB (45g) I find I can sometimes actuate keys when my fingers are resting. I don't game so I can't comment there.
I'd 1,000% say go for Topre, I waited 10+ years to get one for some reason. Had a few mechs even before I knew of Topre, never got more custom than buying a set of switches to plug into a hotswap board.
That said, Topre is just comfy, different experience and easily the most pleasurable "mech" I've ever typed on.
HHKB layout takes time to get used to though, especially myself that used home/end/arrows + ctrl/del/backspace a lot with text. A couple months later it's more or less second nature.
I do appreciate the "compactness" of the layout, for one I like to save space on my desk and two I travel for work and will be posted at a desk for a week at a time so the size is ideal to throw in a case in my backpack.
Is there anything that's just a keyboard? No lights, no programmable bullshit, nothing but a keyboard? Don't want to wake up to a dead keyboard again.

it's here and me likey
Does anyone know a CF cutout project or kit similar to GMK70, that isn't sub 40key meme nonsense?
Thoughts on Aula F98Pro for a first keyboard?
>>105931860F99 is a lot less ugly. What's the advantage of the F98?
>>105891589 (OP)Ordered a pre build sofle v2
I have rather short pinkies so the 5th and 6th column being lower is going to be nice since I won't have to curl my hand to reach Q and P
>>105932309To trash bin I hope?
Which Keychrons have the brightest backlight
Or are they all the same
>>105932692kek
we'll see, topre boards seem to be rather divisive
>>105932414Meme screen and transparent shells for 40$ less
>>105932897>transparent shellsshells?
>>105932915Shells, cases, housings.
:^) My Asterisk is here. It looks exactly like in the pictures, so no point taking another one. I just think the usb cable is really stiff and bulky. Makes sense, it's cheap. Gonna need to find one that doesn't stick out so much, and also that is very slinky.
annnd a tip....
>>105933189bonus tip is it lays on this padded zipper binder very nicely. Apparently Walmart discontinued them, but I have one already. They are overpriced on ebay, like $7-10. There probably is a similar one on ebay. Basically, the it sits nice on padding. Like it takes the "bounce" out of it to reduce errors.
>>105891589 (OP)recommend me an ortholinear keyboard with 6 rows or at least is not as small as 40%
also thoughts on ortholinear keyboards?
>>105932309Good feeling of oneness with cup rubber
They should make more steel keyboards. Aluminum is cool but steel is just pure soul and the shittier it looks the more soulful it is
Also exposed top screws should be more common
>>105933335>recommend me an ortholinear keyboard with 6 rows or at least is not as small as 40%If you want 6 rows there is Kamina or if you want vintage weirdness there is always the IBM POS keyboards which you could hook up to two different micros and have a split. There is also the IBM Mmm Ortho mod you can do with a model M for a 100% ortho layout but it's an open source project iirc. Alternatively just look out for large programmable macro pads as they are for all intents and purposes cheap orthor keyboards (you can get some massive pcb sets pop up from time to time)
>also thoughts on ortholinear keyboards?A gimmick with little to no improvement in all honesty. While ergonomic keyboards can reduce hand strain and alternative key layouts may improve type speed, ortho doesn't really do much of either in a vacuum. The problem ortho seeks to solve is a minimal one with allowing your fingers to go vertically to another key perfectly, but a situation where you need to go from one row to another without moving horizontally is not that common with a traditional English layout. With a non-ortho all you do is move your hand slightly along a slant plane which in terms of overall movement is not that massive compared to that of a straightly vertical movement and as far as I am aware does not exert any more strain than with an ortho.
>>105933469Hey that's the famous antisemitic frog.
>>105933641Looks kind of fun, if you need to type really slow (pre-lapwing stuff)
>>105933641I am still waiting for lead/pewter based boards in a syle reminiscent of engraved charger plates. Not even joking I would buy it in a heart beat
been using red switches for 5+ years, whats something new i can use? i mostly do wfh+gaming
>>105934196If you are used to redinear you could try heavier or lighter linears to see if you like them better. Checkout speed silvers or black linear sample switches and see if you like either. If you want to try non-linear there is always brown or blue too
>>105934275>redinearMeant red linear
they botched my cerakote...
>>105934196Standard Cherry Reds? Try any other redlike on the market. You need to say if you want something to improve your typing or you only want a change because you're bored.
>>105934311bored, ive been using the Keychron k2
>>105934313Your options are basically anything that isnt a full travel 4mm stem bottom linear switch.
Long pole linears with reduced travel, light tactile, sharp tactiles, clicky switches.
>>105934313Try brownlikes. Search for any tactile and it'll be a brown if it isn't a clicky. Buy enough for the alphanumeric rows and see how you like them, then you can decide where to go from there.
starting today, I will be learning to hover type.
I'm gonna 3d print small spikes and put them where I'd lay my wrists as an anti-wrist rest just to ensure I don't get lazy and rest my wrists while typing
>>1059344199 minute update:
this is a lot more exhausting than I though it'd be, damn bro
>>105934453Your chair, desk, etc. should all be adjusted to make floating your wrists while typing effortless.
>>105930901i think it kills you
RIP OP
died with his forearms on his desk
>>105934302Sand the tiny bumps with high grit paper and oil. VERY carefully.
>>105926719Your switches are fucked
Memeswitch leafs are so fucking bad it outright stop working or chattering like crazy
You can fix them by removing the leafs and sand them a little bit to clean the contact points but I think you better throw them away
>>105934922I did some more testing actually.
1) Put kangaroos into other board, no chattering
2) Replaced few kangaroon switches with akko green fog, its harder to trigger stuttering now, but seem to still happen.
So pcb is somehow fucked with just few months of usage or pcb debounce time set to very low.
I suspected switches the most cause in anne pro2 over half of gateron browns outright died in just two years.
Aaanyway I'm probably gonna use meme software to get rid of chattering for now.
>>105934748I've complained to the business, just waiting on a response. If they refuse to recoat, I just won't pay the invoice unless they give me a huge discount.
I'll try the sandpaper thing with WD-40 if it comes down to it.
Anyone have a recommendation for a good mechanical keyboard with nordic layout and volume slider/knob at around 100 euro-ish budget? im going from the corsair gaming keyboard k70 lux which was alright but its shitting the bed now and need a new one soon. im not a keyboard aficionado, so i dont know that much. been looking at pic related. would you recommend?
>>105935040Its extremely hard to fuck pcb up, check your hotswap sockets, use cobtact cleaner on them
>>105935148Good luck, I'm sure it's in their best interest to redo it. If you like stock browns and want a quieter, crisper option try some Outemu silent lemon v3
>>105935343I don't think it's possible to fuck up sockets within a month and two full switch swaps either.
I want something like the charybdis mini, but without paying $300+. Why do europoors have to be so fucking greedy?
>>105926719heavy tactile switch chatteringโsurprise, surprise.
Extend your debounce timing. Cherry browns don't have this problem btw....
>>105936658>>105935343Yeah nvm, ordered MonsGeek M5 qmk DIY kit instead, I'm done with this reddit75pro
>>105936658Cherry don't have any problem that modern mx clones has
I wonder why
Is the rainy 75 a good keyboard
>>105937491it's a foam filled board
>>105937491No. Stay away from WOBKEY boards.
>>105896779Happened with my keychron v3 enter key. I was able to fix it with contact cement and epoxy putty.
>>105937311Almost all the chatter problems I've heard of recently have been Gateron tactiles. Your kangaroos, the other anon with his Longjing Tea tactiles, and of course the infamous Jupiter Bananas.
At this point I'd just be telling people to never buy a tactile from Gateron because obviously their leaf spring and contact point don't play nice with tactile bumps.
>>105937939Type-R switch that people hyping about now is also facing the same problem
>>105937960Lol. Gateron needs to redesign either their leaf springs, the contact point, or maybe the bottom housing, because something here just isn't working.
>>105934492this
i wrest my forearm muscles while I type but the wrist themselves stay up.
I recently tried to purchase an EPOMAKER Th108 on prime day but it got lost or some shit so I'm getting a refund. Looking closer I noticed epomaker has the f108 which is a partner with aula or whatever. Outside of like bigger battery and the switches does anyone know what the difference between the two is? Is one built differently or something?
>>105937939>Almost all the chatter problems I've heard of recently have been Gateron tactilesLike I said in another post, I've tried very same switches in another board, works just fine with no chattering at all. I think wave75 is just shit.
>>105938402>Outside of like bigger battery and the switchesCase. It's the same keyboard.
Bought the minilio 75 pro and upgraded it with gateron mini i. Feels so good to type on it.
>>105937506>>105937509Any better 75% boards for around $100 I should look into?
>>105940308Frog Mini Leggera
>>105940308I got the p1 pro lemokey, is alright, there's probably better ones but i like how its build. it's a 75% that i paid 105 for during prime sale.
i still love with my razer huntsman mini
Standing desk + an ergo board is literally the comfiest setup. Unless you're a fat fuck who can't stand for more than 10 minutes, no fancy chair beats standing with your arms at your side typing. The adjustability of it all makes it so nice too
>>105942199t. just got a standing desk
>>105895505Any thoughts on 100% 104 dactyls?
>>105942741Normal keyboard %s don't really apply to dactyls. If you just mean adding an F-row then the problem is the keys get too close together. Even on the numrow I've had to modify the code so that the ring finger keycap on the top row doesn't collide with the case. Picrel shows before on the left & after on the right.
Dead image-board (infested with bots).
Dead internet.
God abandoned us.
>>105941840It means that you are a submissive gay, anon.
>>105942600lol everyone except one person at my work that got standing desks just used them sitting down after one month
Just got an RK S98 and the battery won't charge past 86%. 5V/1A, just like the recommendation.. bad battery right out of the box?

what is the absolute cheapest board that works with VIA
>>105943090/g/'s become pathetically dead/slow over the past year or so. /bst/ in particular is often a fucking ghost town, when it even does show up anymore.
>>105943154I have one just so my 2 year old can't touch my desk when she comes home.
I have one at the office as well, and will sometimes stand up at my desk to avoid being at the same level as people in my office I don't want to talk to.
>>105943994>will sometimes stand up at my desk to avoid being at the same level as people in my office I don't want to talk to.fucking kekked and based
>>105943601>this snake oil shit againThe only thing that intuitively makes sense about these switches, from a gayming perspective, is rapid trigger and SOCD/snap tap, the latter of which is banned in most instances.
Crazy how many people just fall for marketing hype. Showing a side by side of strafing because the mag switches are set to the very top at 0.1mm actuation is also disingenuous. Actuation set that high is literally unplayable unless you have meticulously trained yourself to keep your fingers off of your keyboard at all times. People do not realize how much they push on keys when they rest their hand on WASD, without even meaning to push them down.
Hovering over WASD instead of resting on WASD is not something you want to do in a competitive setting though, and will for sure strain the fuck out of your fingers and wrist.
>>105943601>just bought a mechanical keyboard>its deadWTF
>>105896303Whoever designed this KB needs to be taken round the shed and his ass beat.
>>105942199>Standing desk + an ergo board is literally the comfiest setupThats not comf in the slightest
>>105944297Why? It worked for OG IT engineers in the past, whose to say it can't now anon?
>>1059442510.1mm actuation is exactly how people play. its the whole reason they bought the keyboard
>>105944369It isn't for the overwhelming majority of people. It's far too sensitive and the faintest graze of the key is an actuation. Like I said, you can train yourself to hover over the keys without touching them, but it's not ideal. You're already adding a couple millimeters to your keypress at that point, and any benefit of a higher actuation is lost. This is why this whole design is retarded and a mental trap for easily fooled retards who think it'll give them an edge competitively, when top players are still playing on "mechanical" boards, and have displayed the same level of competence even on 2KRO Model Ms, with heavy ass switches with hysteresis.
It's a cope, simple as. High refresh rate monitors and polling rates above 250hz on your peripherals make way more of an impact.

Need a new keyboard, looking for my first nice one.
Budget: $150 max
Location: USA
Switch type: I haven't done an autistic deep dive into keyboards yet but I think I'd prefer tactile. I want something with a definite "you pressed the button" feedback. A quiet but pleasant sound and a short travel would be ideal.
Layout: ANSI
Form factor: tenkeyless
Backlight: per-key RGB would be really nice but not critical.
A heavy base, macro support, and possibly wireless would be ideal too. A volume know would be great, and I REALLY want it to be low profile to make it easy on my wrists. The Microsoft Sidewinder I'm used to is completely flat with very low key caps. I don't mind assembling it myself as long as I don't need to solder. Hot swap keys would be sick but it's not necessary and do NOT care about having a fancy screen in my keyboard.
>>105944297XT is pretty based for terminal usage. That's what it was designed for.
And it's still perfectly usable in modern situations. I bring out my F XT once in awhile. Such a good keyboard.
