jpegli hasn't been widely adopted yet so practically speaking webp is still a huge upgrade until that happens.

What makes you think jpegli won't be another mozjpeg failure?

I use webp for every website I build (except I need a vector then SVG), what now?

webpenis is fine, I can see the pixels and the file size is small, so why worry?

Not bad.

It's also less resource intensive to decode compared to AVIF and especially JPEG XL. The other 2 are obviously much better but raping all your CPU cores to decode an image is going to be a problem for anyone not using a modern PC.

I never said anything about battery life. Modern computer/devices have such OP CPUs that users won't notice AVIF/JPEG-XL raping all the CPU cores for 0.1 seconds to decode an image. The problem is older CPUs won't be able to do this and anything that takes longer than human reaction time isn't good.

I've tested this myself on some old thinkpads and as expected the fucking thing will freeze up for like a whole second while the AVIF/JPEG XL image is decoded and that's annoying as fuck.
