RTX 50 Super rumors: 5070 Ti Super 24GB, 5080 Super 24GB, 5070 Super 18GB
>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: current 9070 prices in the US are too close to the 9070XT's.
>Product Notice
AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor but inconsistent QC.
Bad one causes DisplayHDR setting to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.
Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.

I am torn between 9070/xt and 5070/ti, how is FSR support compared to DLSS? the cheapest 5070ti here is $100 more compared to 9070xt and regular 9070 also $100 more compared to 5070.
>>105896892Any game that supports DLSS and Reflex also supports FSR4 and AntiLag2 because of Optiscaler. Vice versa for FSR/Xess/TAAU games. Sup anons.
I have about 1300 Euros to upgrade my PC.
Area is Eurozone but not EU.
Purpose is 1080p gaming on ultra with ray tracing: stuff like Cyberpunk 2077, Oblivion Remaster, Doom and future titles.
My general idea:
RTX 5070 12Gb ~700 EUR, just appeared on market here
i7-12700K ~300 EUR
Gigabyte/ASUS B760 Motherboard (D4/DDR4) ~160 EUR
DDR4 32Gb 3600MHz CL16 I already have, so I plan on reusing it
Some new CPU Cooler like be quiet! Rock for ~50EUR
Thoughts?
Some more details:
I'm not comfortable switching monitors to 1440p, but maybe sometime in the future.
Current i7 7700K + GTX 1060 served me well, but can only deliver dogshit performance.
I also dabbled a bit in LLMs but didn't like the drivers they required at the time, so that is also a small factor: AFAIK they only work on NVIDIA.
I'm planning to move my current Win10 OS to new PC (I was moving and upgrading it since XP), so I prefer intel CPU, but I can be convinced to switch to AMD if it'd be beneficial.

I have a Ryzen 5600x and a 3070 ti and can play most games at high settings no problem. However I play with Ai now and then and really want 16 or 24gb of vram.

>>105898590you will be able to upgrade to the 2 generations newer 10800x3d as am5 is due for one more generation of cpus in late 2026
IMO 5800x3d is already showing its age because of its weaker singlethread performance where even the non-3d 7600x and 9600x performs on par with that cpu.
>>1058985905800x3d = 7700x

I'm running a 12600K and thinking about moving up to a 14700K or 14900K. I have more than enough PSU and cooling for even the 14900K and my motherboard supports up to 14th gen with updates to avoid cooking my CPU.
I'm just not super sure a few more cores a lot more cache and nearly flat base core speed is worth $500 (for the 14900)
I have 3080 so I don't have a sub $1500 GPU upgrade path.
I was wondering if anyone has done an upgrade from 12600 to a 14 series and how they felt about it.
The money isn't super hard for me I just don't want to be wasteful.
>>105897955>is removing dust filter mesh from front intake on a PC a good idea if the mesh obstructs airflow of the front fans anyway?A clean filter should have nearly no drop in airflow. As it works you need to replace or clean it. Although that's more true for building HVAC than tiny PC demands. I'd leave the filter on and just let your fans run faster. My computer has years of operation and almost no dust on any internal parts thanks to my filters.
>>105898754It's roughly 20% better. its noticeable but not exactly a huge jump. If you were getting 100fps for 1% lows before then that 20% now pushes you to 120hz Vsync rate.
>>10589875414900k is alright if you don't mind the heat from it using 150-220W in heavy games
>>10589875414900K isn't worth the money if you don't need all those e-cores.
An OC'd 13600K or 14600K has enough thermal headroom to nearly match an OC'd 14900K's gaming performance.
Do the upgrade to 14th gen if there's a fantastic deal on the 14600K or the 14700K.
>>105898606A cheaper am5 is a good move because when am6 comes out you can upgrade like everybody did with am4 to 5700/5800x3ds on the cheap. I would also consider a 9070xt unless you're looking to do stable diffusion or something.
>>105898826>>105898834>>105898857My fear is that with no production the price is going to rise before or maybe with never having a really good deal.
>>105898908If you're in the US, you can get a 14700K for $310; it went on sale for $211 for a very limited time once.
That all-time low pricing probably won't come back.
You can get a 14600K for $220 (B&H).
I doubt the 14900K/S is worth buying for the "best in socket" resale value since this gen is tainted from the degradation fiasco.
>>105898908fwiw the 14900k wont even be the best cpu for lga1700. the 12 p-core version of the 14900k is expected to launch in 3-6 months

>>105900033It just degrades slowly enough to not be a problem within a reasonable timeframe, for a new processor. But those updates won't undo any damage already done.
>>105899926An i7 (or lower) is okay if it's new in box and cheap enough to offset the load power consumption (but consider idle consumption is better than AMD) and you undervolt the bitch. Do NOT buy an i9. I undervolted my 13700K from day one and haven't experienced any instability for >2 years.
Mine apparently has an aggressive margin, I have it running stable with I think -130mV (or was it -150? I forget) adaptive plus the motherboard's VRM undervolt. Max voltage reading in hwinfo64 is around 1.4V. No errors in Prime95/OCCT, and nominal performance. Before I also had a 1.3V VRM limit on it, but I had to remove that because the newer microcode now takes the VRM limit as an absolute cap and massively gimps performance with a hard limit that low, even set to 1.45V there's a slight loss in performance, it only normalizes at around 1.5V, so with the microcode hard limit being 1.55V there's no real point in using the feature.
I learned way more than I ever wanted to about load lines and vdroop figuring out this bitch back in 2023/24. Buildzoid's video series on it was invaluable.

>>1059021336090>5090 performance upfilt being that low is unlikely, unless nYidia intends to ressurect Titan cards as an additional tier above xx90. They indeed have to gimp new gen cards slightly in order to "reserve" some performance for super/ti/ti super cards and maintain 1-year production cycle.
But node shrink from 5nm to 2nm alone will result in absolutely MASSIVE EPIC gains, both in performance uplift and power consumption efficiency. Also new gen (most likely) will have vram with way better specs, because current gddr7 modules on blackwell cards only have 28 gbps data transfer rate, which is rock bottom for gddr7.
it's not unreasonable to expect 6070ti being very close or equal to 5090, with way better power efficiency and lower price (and with less vram, of course). Everything points towards 60xx gen being new 10xx in terms of generational uplift of performance.

>why choose the 9900x instead of something with "3d" in it?Well, I care less for the few extra frames per second in the latest video game than I do for keeping temperatures & electricity consumption down while running a few moar koarz to handle a variety of simultaneous productivity tasks we'll be switching between (ergo also 96gb ram & 4tb m.2). This'll be for cool & quiet (underclocked) productivity, film & music production, LLM training, AI ETC (and maybe mine shitcoins for heat when it snows), just an all-around at-home hobby box small enough for me to carry in the trunk or on the train between CT & NYC.
9900X does what I need without extra heat (assymmetrically, as the "3d" chiplette is on top of one of the two eight-core mini-dies, assymmetrically making more heat on one than another, forcing that one to run a skosh slower, which means they slow the other one the same little bit to match....

Looking into upgrading my toaster's RAM from 8GB to at least 16GB, and I'm stuck looking up speed and CAS latency.
I figure the higher the speed and the lower the CAS the better, but I'm not sure what the exact limiting factor is nor what difference 9001MHz, 2 CAS RAM makes over a 8999MHz, 1 CAS.
Looking into the mobo (PRIME B350M-A) QVLs I see speeds ranging from 2133MHz to 4133MHz, then looking into the CPU (Ryzen 5 1600) I see people mention it's rated for 2666MHz, but also "muh overclocking" for higher speeds and just getting into researching that topic is sucking all the will out of me.
Picrel for more detail.
Other details: 243V5LSB/00 monitor (1920x1080, 60Hz), MSI GTX 1050 Ti X graphics card
So, what am I supposed to do here, is 2666MHz a safe choice?
Am I supposed to push for more, lean into overclocking?
What even are some sane CAS, how do I know when to compromise for more or less CAS over more or less speed?
Also, any reliable names or names to run away from really fast? Looking through my options I barely recognize some of these, and most of them are just a single 5 star rating which doesn't inspire much confidence it's not just shilling
Maybe I'm just overthinking it and should go into whatever. Or maybe I should go for a whole new PC, but this one's been serving me quite well other than running out of RAM a bit too often
Should I update my asrock x870e bios to ComboAM5 1.2.0.3e version? it seems like all these bios updates are useless.

If i play a game I am right up at t he desk and my elbow rests against the pad which is level with the desk.
The problem i had with the arm rests on the chairs is that they would keep me farther away from the desk that they limit the area you can move arm around on.
>>105908412That's what I was afraid of; I've never had a system with more than 32GB of RAM so I'm clueless as to how these systems hold up when dealing with big RAM pools.
As an intel boomer I am very happy to recommend a 285K to him but I'm not sure what mobo & RAM to buy for this. I already had a giant pain in the ass with my most recent system getting some shitty Hynix A Corsair DDR5 6400s to run at their rated speeds, I ended up giving up and running them at JEDEC 4800 because they weren't stable no matter how much I tweaked them.

My point is really to try and find a used one somewhere. I hear you can find them when offices close down and they sell all the furniture or find them on facebook marketplace.
Herman miller is the other big office brand.

They have other models that you can find if you look around hopefully.
The foam seat on this gesture is still going strong so if you find a good deal on a used chair somewhere it should probably be good as long as it's clean.
