Do you have a paper shredder for OPSEC? I don't use paper that much, but when I do, I get paranoid about who may get his hands on it.

I looked into it and you need a P7 security rating shredder for good opsec. Minimum 1200 bucks.

I could burn the paper for free, but that's hard in an appartment

How likely is it that someone will target your trash for documents? Shredders with worse ratings are good enough for your electric bills.

yes, i have one, but not for the opsec. because im in germany and everyone and their mother loves sending fucking letters, newspapers, catalogues, and other printed shit. i have a sticker on my postal box to not drop commercial and promo materials, but it doesn't help all that much.
destroying all that crap with cheap 30eur shredder seems to me the most-efficient way of fighting paper shizos.

Don't be retarded and shred documents in one piece. Rip them in half once or twice. Reorient when you shred. Shred dummy stuff, like the envelope or other useless papers. And if you really just, run a marker or an ink roller over the document you're shredding.

damn, that's a nice shredder, even CDs and credit cards, I could need one like this because I got here so many CDs and DVDs I don't need anymore and I don't want to throw them away like this and I guess breaking them apart isn't helpful neither

the good ones turn paper into flakes
those shreds can be pieced together

>>105902564
not OP, but of course no one will do that, and obviously no one needs a P7 NATO-ready shredder lmao, as the flakes are illegible enough
I just don't like having information legible/visible when I throw shit out

I got an $90 one on amazon a few years ago that can do cd's and cards too, it's of course much cheaper looking and feeling but it does its job really well

that's normal even for low level shredders, like the cheapo ones you can pick up at any home electronics/office supply store

>>105902617
i use this one: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0BD38CT4D
also eats credit cards / sim cards pretty good. you don't really need that bank-grade shredding just to destroy things in a way that it would be very difficult to recreate.
mine is rated P4, but once it is dumped into garbage bag and shaken-up - well, good luck for anyone trying to put it all together again. just wait till bin is full before throwing it out.

all I see when I see shredded paper is a puzzle waiting to be solved (I'm autistic btw)
the only way to make your paper documents secret is fire.

if they have your paper shreds it's already too late and your opsec failed. opsec means you don't get looked at to begin with

seems P6 shredders are in the ~3-4000USD class (converting from the prices I see in my currency), but of course the target audience is government agencies and banks etc, as is P7 which is also for military use

>These machines are designed primarily for government agencies that handle top secret documents that must be destroyed beyond recognition. The knives in these machines are extremely efficient and cut the paper with high security cross-cut technology. The particles left behind by the documents are impossible to remove even with the most advanced equipment.

People absolutely do it. You have to make it hard enough, which shredders do. P7 is overkill, P4 is annoying enough that someone dumpster diving wont bother.

If you’re that worried about OPSEC, you would be using a burn bag instead. Granted, I doubt you’re doing anything that requires that precaution but if you’re getting nervous about shredding just go for incineration at that point. There’s some more field expedient ways but I don’t think you need to worry about that. If someone was actively targeting you (at least we’re not) then probably.

Depends on your neighbours, how much paper you need to burn, how often, do they keep their windows open, which way is the wind blowing, etc.
Make sure no plastic goes in the fire. It smells really bad and produces smoke that can more easily mark things.

If you're worried about it just shred into a basin of water and vinegar and pulp it with a paint mixing bit on an electric drill once in a while
