I hate oled for productivity and web browsing and that is all I use my laptop for. I hope they release one more gen of the MBP with the same or slightly improved screen before they switch to oled and will buy the M5 at release if they do. I don't even need to upgrade from my m1 pro and I don't think I would even notice a difference on the current models for my usecase it is just getting old and full of non user replaceable parts. Are there any new features for someone upgrading from M1 to M4? Hardware AV1 decoding for battery life reasons is the only thing I can see and I already have an N100 mini PC that does that hooked up to my TV any time I would want to watch stuff.

I'm unironically considering switching to apple silicon as a local dev machine.
When are we gonna know the M5's expected release date? I have no idea how apple releases its products since I have literally never had a reason to care before.

My friend, somehow, for some reason, apple has now become the world leader in ARM laptops, and not just ARM for the sake of ARM but the world leader in laptops that go toe-to-toe with (and often exceed) massive top-of-the-line gayming desktop replacement bricks while retaining the form factor of an average workstation laptop, and having the power efficiency to actually function as a battery-powered laptop rather than requiring to be connected to wall power at all times.

Apparently, I maxed out the ipad's storage, and it never even warned me. Now it's become completely unresponsive. I can't delete anything to make room, not via Files, nor Settings. The trust ipad dialog does not appear when I connect it to my mac (it becomes "rejected" by default, prompting me to disconnect it and connect it again). I've searched online and apparently this is a common issue. People recommend factory reset, or buying a second ipad.
