Do people often realize that Google Sites is free and not that hard to use? I thought about it previously and have been wondering why no one takes advantage of it. I was playing wih it and the amount of stuff you can do with it and not have to buy a domain is actually interestingly nice. Has anyone done anything cool with one?

Because google tends to kill their products.
Iโ€™ll be honest. I donโ€™t think github pages, gitlab pages, cloudflare pages, neocities, etc. will last in the next decade or so too.

They sound like a manic artist that doesn't like their own work.

>neocities
As social media becomes more and more enshittified I think the personal website will make a comeback. I've made a lot of travel friends and penpals on neocities and it really feels like the old web. Whether or not they'll monetize it and ruin it the same way Yahoo did to Geocities, only time will tell.

With how bad metaverse flopped, I doubt Google really sees it as much of an investment

The account should exist unless Google got rid of it themselves, I just irreversibly lost access to it.

Microsoft own GitHub, some time in the next 5 years they're going to claim ownership of every line of code and every project on there and make TRILLIONS

if it is easy to use, productive, useful, fun, BUT does not generate revenue - google is going to kill it, unless they figure-out monetization strategy with 200% ROI
