The whole "net worth" thing is a meme metric to measure wealth. It's literally (number of stocks you own in public companies)*(their prices).
Not that Elon Musk isn't very rich, but if we included the worth of the private assets, I would bet some Arabian oil king/dictator is the richest man alive.
Ask however Elon Musk to spend a couple of billions here and there and he might get nervous, due to things like the massive debt with its massive interest he took to buy Twitter, the fact that Twitter must still be unprofitable af, the volatility of Tesla stock now that the company is starting to lose sales and has to rely on self-driving/robotaxi hype, the recent failures of SpaceX to make Starship work, him making an enemy of virtually everyone on the left and right of the political spectrum among other things.
