Why is this piece of shit so fucking slow on my nas anytime it has to do a database operation? I need to export a list of my media using the plex media scanner command line tool and it just hangs for minutes on something as simple as listing the names of all the movies in my library. All it has to do is query an sqlite database, which shouldn't take more than a couple seconds even on the slowest piece of shit cpu there is. Was plex written by incompetent jeets?
>>105922077 (OP)i use jellyfin. streams to browsers xbox and roku. just werx.
>>105922449FTP is not a solution, I don't know why people keep recommending it
>>105922077 (OP)>>105922398Never understood the point. You can just use ffmpeg, transmission and ssh for literally everything. If you want to really fancy just write a few scripts to gel these together.
>>105923549Metadata, watch together, access control to name a few
>>105922077 (OP)And why does it get worse over time? The webui had a shuffle option in the dropdown episodes in continue watching. now I have to go to the series page every time. Why?
you are poor buy better hardware
>>105922077 (OP)You're not paying for it, that's why.
>>105923549keeps track of everything. Simple as.
>>105923549cli + ffmpeg gives women the ick
Works fine for me; I take it you didn't read the documentation.
Check the fsync latency of the drive your sqlite DB is on.
Personally, I had better performance with the sqlite DB on an HDD, vs an SSD without DRAM
>>105922077 (OP)honestly sounds like your NAS is a potato. run plex server on an actual computer and point it to the fileshares on your shitty NAS instead
>>105925551You can always just write a gui for stuff you actually need. It's simpler than it sounds
>>105927089> just write a much worse GUI from scratch to do the same thing as Jellyfin> also write the apps that run on your TV and phoneYou're legitimately 80 IQ.
>>105925551cli+ffmpeg makes women think you're a 1337 hax0r but they do have to have you start all the movies at movie night and are entertained when your stoned ass has to spend a minute banging out terminal commands to get the files set up correctly. We have Jellyfin up now but force of habit they just hand me the keyboard to fix stuff. I've also taught a few to use Ranger to navigate the fileshare. I share these lived experiences to give hope to my fellow autists.
