Any search engines that actually give you proper results like back in the day?

I have found Yandex to be a superior replacement to Google for reverse image search and piracy related searches, but for normal searching, Google still tops everyone else despite how much it has declined in quality.

None because proper results don't exist anymore, the internet is overloaded with garbage
Ironically it's like we're back in the chains of pages days. You look for what you want in the known sites (wikipedia, reddit, github, 1337x, youtube, whatever) and if you can't find it you ask your friends (4chan in your case) if they know where to find it

Forgot to add as well, any searches for anything non-politically correct will generally yield far more relevant results on Yandex compared to Google

Trying to mostly use search engines during studying to pull up minor details I can't find in my notes. Basic undergraduate math stuff that should be pretty accessible, but I have to filter through dozens of AI generated essay sized articles just to find a single one line comment that would give me all I need.

The web barely even exists anymore. Pretty much every site outside of the main stream is dead and gone. So even if you found a search engine that actually worked, would there be anything left to find?

My best example of the death of the web is the state of the chans. 15 years ago there dozens of image boards, all with decent traffic, now most are gone and the few remaining are ghost towns.

The modern web has been redesigned so as to prevent you from efficiently finding the information you seek. Rather you must endure endless scrolling, artificially shaped, ad ridden data flows of what "they" want you to see.
As far as big corps are concerned, there is no usecase for you being able to efficiently find what you seek.

Better off using wikipedia, wolfram mathworld, and similar sites like that for math stuff.
Goggle pretty much always is just going to turn up AI blogspam slop.

Yandex is indispensable for anything touched by politics, which is to say almost everything.

Google is a Judeo-American liberal orthodoxy enforcement agent. Since 2020 it aggressively pushes left-leaning corporate media to the top of such results (NPR, PBS, CNN, etc). The same goes for Youtube (being part of Google) where any search perceived as having political implications has corpo news pushed to the top even if it is irrelevant.

Shit sucks. I default to DDG now but i don't think it's particularly good. Still go to Google on occasion to see if i have better luck there finding something about whatever random obscure tech problem i am having. I think a large part of this problem is that not just the service itself has gotten worse but the entire internet has become this jeet, LLM, and SEO infested hellhole. Forums are dead or dying. Most of the time i have best luck if i just add site:reddit.com or github to the end. We are entering the era of having to get on a Discord server to ask something directly from those in the know. Or coaxing nuggets of correct information out of some retarded LLM.

This is true but for search results forums generally sucked.

They altered their search algorithm to serve advertiisers more than users.

This used to be a conspiracy theory, but the truth came out not too long ago that its actually confirmed.
