I got tricked into hating apple my whole life. I tried all other brands and they just suck in comparison. The high price is there for a reason. People are just jealous or extremely autistic if they purposely avoid apple products. An Apple user told me that Apple products don't work well with the electricity of my country. I had a iPod Shuffle and it failed me out of nowhere after a while, so I went to another brand and now I know I did the right thing.
Louis Rossman complains a lot about Apple products, and he knows better.

I use iphone because androids started to suck and I wasnt going to bother rooting and installing custom roms anymore since I had a full time job at that point.
I use apple for personal laptop because battery, I use apple for work laptop because better than windows for swe.
Personal desktop is prebuilt with linux :^)
I have used non-Apple ultrabooks and I will say some of them are pretty good, I used to love my XPS years ago. But nothing competes with M chips and their performance/battery in that form factor. I dont need a discrete GPU in my laptop either because I dont want to be glued to a wall socket.

That being said I wish I could install Arch on my modern MBP. It would be perfect.

i swung back and forth but mostly pcs (after amstrad and amiga)
in the late 90s/early 00s i had the imac G3, it was glorious
then in 2020 i tried to recapture that feeling after roughly 15 years of PCs and got a big imac
it is great but macos is just a windows that works nowadays whereas in the 90s it had its own personality and charm that were incomparable (but had no games so there's that; i game on the imac just fine now)
without covid i would never have shelled out all that money into a desktop tho to be honest: i was expecting our bank accounts to be seized so i went wild
all i miss a PC for is diablo 2 and skyrim (and quiet fans, ah my noctua, i miss you too)

Unfortunately Apple lacks someone at the top with taste to keep Alan Dye’s faggotry (junk-drawer design, illegible buttons because of the background, removing buttons to make room for more-rounded corners) in check

The budget friendly macs coming 2026 have me interested. It is just technically a rumor but it's more of a leak than a rumor at this point.
