I could never have any fun with chatbots. Maybe I'm just not social or creative enough. In trying to understand the appeal I've read a number of people describing their motivations and the strangest ones were those who have a happy life and family but still have lengthy conversations with bots and their family knows and 'accepts' it.

I think the logic might be something like: need robotics/AI to stop collapse -> require capital to build datacenters so AI can be developed -> do companions to get said money (among other things)
