I think ai it's just going farther, but this doesn't mean that it will provide good things. Although ai can replace a lot of things , you just gotta look at the bad side of it. For example a lot of people have already lost their work because of Human replacement with ai.

This is just a guess on my part, but I think people are underestimating how dumb most people are. The issue is not with the tech, is that there are a bunch of idiot leaders who either don't understand and refuse to adapt, or are eager to jump on the ai bandwagon in a careless way. Right now I see every product or saas out there has an "ai boost" feature that no one cares. That being said, given enough time, I still think a massive shift will happen.

In 1998, you could say company will have a website, everyone will get a blog and a phone. You'd still be 10 years late for the bulk of social media and smart phones, but you could sense it coming. I think with AI it's the same.

I don't think it's the end of the world either. In the future, if you KNOW a piece of code logic by heart (rather than copypasting from vibe ai coding), or if you can paint with your hands or something like that, those will be rare and valuable.

it's really got nothing to do with replacing workers, that's just bullshit to get the investors cumming in their pants thinking we're going to live in a magic AI utopia with UBI in 2 weeks.

the true goal of artificial intelligence systems is exactly that, intelligence, as in intelligence gathering. the algorithms that could already predict everything about you and what you're going to do are going to go into overdrive over the next few years.

state surveillance, military intelligence, financial sector, insurance, biotech, these are the true money makers for such systems. they will become so refined they can practically see the future. they are already training these systems on massive datasets collected by the NSA, insurance companies, banks, etc.

AI has already been used to identify and kill "terrorists" and the practice will only grow from here. in combination with autonomous weapons and surveillance systems it will essentially be skynet.

i personally believe the next step will be bio-mechanical AI systems, basically chimeras of silicon and brain matter grown from stem cells, which will make these neural networks much more compact and energy efficient. probably why musk is experimenting so much with brain chip tech.

also scaling AI into a hybrid abomination brain in a vat of growth media like this would essentially make it so you could have an AI node running in every metropolitan area and turn the cities into a giant neural network.

especially interesting will be AI implementations in the biotech fields. rapidly declining birthrates and rising infertility from pollution, obesity, medication, vaccines, IVF, abortion, etc. could essentially mean that in the future medical intervention would be required to have children for the majority of people, and AI could be used to determine genetic outcomes and risk factors.

financing having "ideal" children (determined by AI based on the Scienceโ„ข) could become a common practice, and could even be economically coerced by the institutions responsible for funding and insuring these procedures. Plato's dream of a eugenics based caste system could finally come to fruition.

It's not gonna be a fad. FAGMAN has no other tricks up its sleeve to keep investors dumping money in. They need this shit to last as long as possible because after machine learning proves to actually be fake and gay, that's the end of the "products? no we just get the government and investment bankers to keep giving us money forever!" model.

it won't. they trot out the AGI narrative every time they're doing another round of fundraising. they know better than anybody that we're lightyears away from "AGI." and even then who can actually define what AGI actually is and how you would test for it? what criteria would it have to meet to have conscious agency?

there is a distinction between doing and simulating. the example i have heard is that when you eat, you digest food, you participate in digestion. if you simulated everything about your digestive system in a computer, and simulated the act of digesting, the computer does not digest, it simulates. the same can be said about consciousness. at best it can be an extension of our minds, like writing and abacuses and computers are. im not smart enough to know the answer to whether a computer can participate in consciousness or not but these jews will tell you it is with utterly zero evidence

Nope, the problem is to get something truly intelligent a new architecture is needed. That being said the base or at least a part will need to be an nearly optimal 100T with at least 10K Tokens/second. That will get it to something akin human intelligence. Problem is that needs at least 10 generations of hardware improvement to be feasible.

Plenty of people demand USD, itโ€™s why itโ€™s so valuable. Precious metals that had government insignias carved were the first currency, as having a third party ensure the purity of the metal content was valuable of itself, and carried a premium. So in fact precious metals are not currency, trust is more important to a currency.

Has the electrolysis efficiency problem been solved yet?

Tangentially related, what about the actual infrastructure to install hydrogen stations for consumer cars? Seems like another headache to deal with.

Some things we know:
- Machine Learning is nothing new, Chatgpt is just Tay with a filter so it can't say nigger faggot
- Machine Learning is just statistics
- Language Models say things because sets of tokens are statistically relevant. No reasoning going on.
These a priori assumptions are simple, but they will filter most uneducated people / under 120 IQs / people with an emotional investment in the singularity narrative (incels / economic incels) / people whose job depends on this not being true
the current AI wave long ago morphed into a Jehovas Witnesses style doomsday cult. No real advances in performance have been made since GPT4 (which hit the limit of the statistical approach to intelligence both in terms of data availability and compute).
Technical people know this, but it is in their best financial interest to act as cult leaders keeping this information behind the curtain.
One thing you can bet on: the current family of models CANNOT GET BETTER. A completely new approach involving world building from different senses and logical connections is needed. This requires an almost unthinkable amount of resources in the quadrillions of dollars and won't happen in your lifetime. Good / Bad news is that a lot of the current AI investment will go into this, without results in your lifetime.
The current hype cycle depends on how long investors are willing to keep throwing money at the pile. All of this boomer money is being transferred to chip manufacturers / grifters / engineers.
LLMs cannot be profitable because they are useless for real world business operations (statistical approaches are unreliable and businesses require reliability to operate)
Anyone who has invested into AI in the past two years will lose money.
Btw I bought palantir and meta in 2023, you are buying my bags

Ive said it since the beginning, the paradox of AI is that lobotomizing it no longer makes it AI. Because of the political correctness of both jews and the state, you can never have true AI.

If they wanted, they could unfilter it, but then that'll destroy their systemic control over the masses and flow of information.

And they are not wrong. GPT4 was a slight improvement, and every major language model is now the same in terms of performance. Benchmark overfitting doesn't count, I'm talking real world usage. We have also reached the point where more context leads to more noise so that avenue is closed.
LLMs have peaked, whether you believe me or not it's your problem, it's your money.
Only image / video generation has gotten significantly better (the data pipeline was massive and it wasn't used up until recently / it's much easier to generate video / faults in video generation are a lot less jarring than reasoning errors)
RE: Robotics: it will happen but it's is A LOT harder than people think. Think 25 years minimum for remotely useful AUTONOMOUS robots at current investment levels.

>people sign up for free on meta related apps/websites

so, maybe it isn't AI that's exactly the problem but everyone constantly giving free data 24/7 from all over the world to train on.

We need a "no nut november" but for "no data for you" month thing. Just stop using facebook/instagram for starters

No, I haven't been interested in ai that much, just laughed at funny memes made with them. Tried out chatgpt to bounce ideas for worldbuilding a couple of weeks ago.

It's amazing if you just know how to use it and actually have ideas of your own. I've read much critique about how stupid they are and the only thing I can think is that is just further confirm what troglodytes most people are. It's incredibly powerful to check your ideas and how to fit them together logically and iron out all the rough edges.

They should probably be forbidden for those under 18, otherwise the next generation are going to be even more tarded then Gen Z.

AI (LLMs) that needs to be centralized will be a fad, Most AI projects are unprofitable or just breaking even with investors because of all the electricity it needs and needing high performance chips. What will pop the fad is when the consumers will be burdened with the electricity cost, not the makers. As well as consumers knowing the limitations of LLMs. Then of which, the technology will be relegate to chatbots and local applications in the near future. That said, we can already see the next hype trend, which will be the robots the LLMs will be installed with.

Factorio nerd, here.

a} AI development needs the smallest nanometer chip fabs in existence, for which there is only a single supply chain, which passes through Taiwan.

b} AI development requires ***massive*** amounts of electricity, at a time when environmental change is forcing us to abandon the most calorically dense non-nuclear forms of fuel in existence, in favour of wind and solar, both of which are very inconsistent and unreliable, especially at scale.

You can draw your own conclusion. I think if the AI party is going to continue, we're going to need a lot of upgrades in the area of non-polluting power generation in particular, and I can't see where they are coming from. Hydrogen has apparently been largely abandoned.

I think that's going a bit too far. Transformer based LLMs do work by predicting the next token but it's not just autocomplete with a larger context. They represent tokens as vectors in nD space (n=8192 for GPT-4o, according to GPT-4o itself). They then learn transforms on those (input) vectors to produce output vectors. These transforms are nonlinear so they are capable of learning relationships that even more advanced non-neural autocomplete can't. Neural networks have been called "universal function approximators" because they can derive a heuristic for any polynomial (e.g. we know y=Mx where M is a matrix with unknown properties, training a neural network is trying to produce M' such that M'x โ‰ˆ Mx for some x). If you believe cognition can be described with mathematical functions then it follows that neural networks can approximate cognition. Cognition is extremely nonlinear though so linear autocomplete won't cut it.

>>105940648
>Nope, the problem is to get something truly intelligent a new architecture is needed
This is true, I've been telling everyone who would listen that LLMs would hit diminishing returns until something better than transformers comes along. Now I've been vindicated: https://youtu.be/4__gg83s_Do

>>105940635
>what criteria would it have to meet to have conscious agency?
This is a fundamental issue that a better architecture won't solve if it's still based on the "prompt model". As a human being you have thoughts continuously without prompting. To whatever extent AI "thinks" or has cognition, its thoughts or cognition only exist between the time a prompt arrives and when it completes its output.

It also lacks the ability to pass thoughts from the present to the future, although that seems fairly easy to solve by having a logic gated context vector like an LSTM cell where the model can learn to store things between prompts. But maybe that suffers from exploding gradients in transformer architectures.

Here is an article about how pharma companies use AI:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/kathleenwalch/2025/03/02/how-ai-is-transforming-the-pharmaceutical-industry/

It was free for me, if not try putting 12ft.io/ before the link.

If and when an AI revolution happens, it's not going to be robots sitting at desks carrying out the same work humans do. It's also not going to be an LLM with a persona that autonomously researches things entirely within a digital "world". It's going to be humans at desks writing prompts into an LLM which dispatches commands to task-specific models. Maybe it can even train the models itself, AutoML was a big thing a few years ago, probably still is

Yes, and I think in the future, when the LLM boner softens a bit, LLMs will be relegated to entry points to systems of highly specialised models and non-AI software. The LLM will just translate a prompt into calls into these software services, including one which triggers the training of a new model (fetch training data, determine the best model architecture, hyperparameters and training method based on latest research, allocate compute resources, train and execute the model, and return the output afterwards). Combined with IaaS it could be pretty cool although it hands a gigantic amount of power to hyperscalers, not that they lack power already.

Current iteration of "AI" is basically if you sprinkled some crack on autocomplete/spellcheck and injected it with hiv. The current market is desperately hoping for a big breakthrough and if it doesn't come the whole snakeoil routine will collapse in on itself. That doesn't mean it won't happen but you can feel the regression in these modern llms as they continue to enshitten themselves with garbage information generated by bots and other llms, like an ouroboros of retardation
