No. Most people find them less comfortable than the little rubber tips, and they always sound shitty. You can find some Chinese brand ones on aliexpress that sound less shitty, but still worse than the in-ear ones since such a tiny speaker can't produce good sound without having at least a partial seal with your ear.
/iemg/ has some that are okay. They call them flat or showerhead style earbuds.
Or get airpods. I think the non-pro ones are still that style, though they make the port the sound comes out smaller and aimed more at the ear canal entrance to somewhat compensate for the small speaker with no seal problem.

I never liked them honestly. I used to use over ear koss headphones and then I switched to IEM. I think they're probably not made anymore because you get get something that sounds so much better for $15-25, I just don't think this old style is very good. I remember the move from the old bud type to the current in-ear ones, so I know that's bullshit. First there were some buds that had a bit that stuck out into your ear canal entrance to make a slightly better seal than the previous ones. It was marketed as improving sound quality, and those did sound better but only a little. Then they moved to the ones with the rubber tips that make a seal, and that's when they started being able to put out better bass, and at least in decently designed ones, treble that sounds neither muffled, shrill nor tinny.

The IEMS that I use fit in an altoids tin or in my pocket easily, so I can listen anywhere more conveniently than with my old headphones that I actually used with my mp3 players in the mid 2000s.

I have used some of the newer model beats headphones and the sound was not that bad. It was much more balanced than the farty bass from the first gen that was loud but not deep. The real problem with beats are the horrible design and build quality, and they're overpriced. They don't sound better than my old Koss that cost like 40 bucks - although those were wired.

You will get really good sound quality, just make sure you are getting legit ones and not chinese fakes (apparently amaZOG had a ton of koss fakes).
Protip if you actually go with it: Gotta detach and bend the clips until you get the drivers to sit closest to your ear to get the best sound out of them - how the clips are out of factory will result in rolled off sub-bass and highs (details loss) - properly sitting pair has none of that.

I don't know who you're talking about man. I listen to music the same way I did in the early 2000s, just on equipment that is orders of magnitude better. I still buy CDs and rip them or download music to my PC, I still manage my music library on my portable player and listen to my own albums or playlists. You can still do all this stuff. It's never been easier than it is today. You're not beholden to mobile data/streaming services. That's only one option. I haven't sacrificed any size or ease of use. I've gone from a 512MB player to a 512GB player. The equipment has just improved over the years.

BTW, I'm surprised to learn you have HD 800s. I know they're for home use only but all the criticisms you just said apply to those so much more than IEMs, even the overpriced ones. A brand new pair of 800s is like $2000. Speak for yourself, I've probably walked 1000+ miles of very long hiking/trekking sessions while listening to huge/oversized AKG audiopedophile grade studio headphones, with an oldschool waistbag that had in it portable amp->portable usb dac->old phone redesignated to be sd card music player with usb audio player pro on it.
The very same pair of the headphones sit right now on my desk as PC my daily drivers.

Was it inconvenient? No, those are the most comfy headphones ever that I wouldn't feel, nor would trap any hear even after constant 8 hours of trekking. Same goes for equipment, can't feel it's weight in a waist bag.

I feel you, OP. I loved these and plugging them in the audio jack on my phone. I even got an extension cord, because I am pretty tall and when I put the phone in my pocket there is not enough cord to reach my ears comfortably. They were great. I raged against Samsung removing the audio jack from their top lines.

That said, I got pic related 10 days ago. It's fucking science fiction magic. They are super light, fit perfectly, don't fall off, don't even move, the sound is superb, they got clickable controls on both of the ear pieces to stop/skip/volume/etc..
