Python became the MATLAB replacement, and no one is trained in Fortran anymore.
As bad as python is at everything, it at least doesn't cost $20k a seat.

It would be much more manageable to keep things relevant if libs were updated on a case by case basis or replace with more optimized solutions. researchers are also taught python via Jupiter notebook so they are brainwashed into thinking they don't need anything else
