With local image gen, "can run" is usually a practical consideration of time spent per image, rather than a hard out-of-memory limit.

Not a bad strategy. If you generate a small-res test image that you like, you can drag-drop it back into ComfyUI to keep all the settings--for what you are planning, especially important are the seed number and the cfg.
However(!), increasing the output resolution will change the image composition. You are better off just putting your desired test images into an upscaler.

Not off the top of my head. This is very much a "your mileage may vary" type thing.

not that anon but i highly recommend you get a 16gb vram card or above. using SDXL with 8gb has it's limitations and generating small resolution sized images with no proper upscaling will lead to poor results. Generation time per image is just as important and as high quality results. There is no way your even going to run SD3, SD3.5, flux or hidream with only 8gb of vram.

If you decide you want to get into the hobby, then yes, you should just get as much vram/ram as you can. You will be glad for every gb you have, and you will wish you had more.

here's a bit of fun: i've been distillation training the Qwen3 0.6B text embedder on T5-xxl outputs. This is the first coherent output i've gotten running its output through Chroma.

The image doesn't at all resemble the prompt, which was:

"Hatsune Miku, depicted in anime style, holding up a sign that reads 'Qwen3'. In the background there is an anthroporphic muscular wolf, rendered like a high-resolution 3D model, giving a thumbs up to the camera as a priapic bulge rises inside his tight shorts."

Anyway, looks interesting, seems like best practice is you run a script to check the unet compability between Chroma and a Flux Lora, if it's good enough then do a conversion.

Can you save and import masks in comfyUI? When you save a mask with right click > save image, will it function properly as a mask if I load it as an image on a different PC?

A trick for Wan Loras although you get a side effect is doing a white crossfade between two images. For creating a gallery style slide show it seems promising, It's also interesting because it associates the flash with parts of the character it's going to change or actions it's thinking about.

It's been optimized for Blackwell, but technically, any GPU that supports FP4 would be able to support it. The only non-Nvidia GPU that can do FP4 which only got announced a while ago and is probably still in partner sampling mode is AMD's newest enterprise GPUs with the MI350X and MI355X. No consumer cards other than the RTX 5000 series though so yeah, will be like that for the next 2-3 years.

My 3080 fails to initialize when I power on my PC. The display receives no signal. Often this happens when I've been doing flux batches. I think I'm burning out the VRAM on it. It comes back to life after several attempts, but I'm concerned. Now I just leave my PC on. If the card dies completely, I think I'll get a humble 5060 ti

I've heard this multiple times now, with no proof or evidence. Could people just be making shit up to hate on the dev due to recent events? So I decided to look into it myself.

Would you look at that, if wandb tracking is enabled, it sends your validation prompts AND VALIDATION IMAGES to wandb. And guess what? The wandb option is enabled by default unless you explicitly disable it. To be fair, you do need to be logged in to wandb. But I think it's like Huggingface Hub. You run "wandb login" in your terminal, it sets some config files or environment variables or something, and now you're globally logged in for all scripts you run that use the library.

So if you were using wandb for some other training script and thus had to log in to it or set an environment variable with your API key, by default SimpleTuner will in fact send your validation prompts and images to a third party. You would think that sending potentially sensitive information like this to third parties would require explicit opt in, but nope. Hope you weren't training anything illegal.

It is very hard with flux to control the amount of denoising you want (via img2img or inpainting). Or rather, it seems like whereas with older models you can pick denoising points from low to high and get the image to gradually change more and more as you get to 1.0, with flux it change the image very minimally until about 0.9, then suddenly it changes it massively. Also, it seemed like with 1.5 and sdxl, the number of steps it actually uses is a function of denoising parameter. But with flux, it always uses all the steps every time.

It could be distillation. Models are weird about that. I remember the SDXL turbo (or the dreamshaper mix which I used a great deal with) would run in 7 steps. I would set denoising to 0.42 when inpainting and it would barely change. But then I bumped it up to 0.43 denoising and the results were much bigger, ostensibly because increasing the denoising by that little tick added another step.

Well, Flux dev is distilled, so A) it is trained on synthetic output from Flux Pro, B) it doesn't actually have true CFG, it fakes it by having trained on Flux Pro image output of a couple of CFG settings, this speeds generation up a LOT, but also means you are losing flexibility/variety, this is likely what you are seeing in img2img/inpainting.

It is a model by Black Forest Labs. There are several versions by them which you can find on huggingface, also a small fine tune called pixelwave flux which is what I usually use for those kind of images, and a larger fine tune still in progress called chroma.

I get that its gonna take a bit to set up the 'perfect' workspace or whatever, but which site has good workflows with samples that I can take then play with?
Viewing my outputs. I tend to gen in batches then pick and chose 1 or 2 then go from there. The management for that doesn't seem straight forward here. Is there a node to view in batchs? I really like the default a1111 output setup where makes dated folders for both grids and solo gens.
