Godspeed OP.
However I worry that the topic is a bit too vague and broad. People already have generals for ricing, dpt, diy, home screens, etc.

The whole board is dead because you children accuse everyone of being a "schizo" is they post any form of truth and then you wonder why all the old informed posters leave.

You shit where you eat then complain about the taste. Also everything doesn't need a "general". Generals were always cancer but since you're all discord addicted new fags you don't understand how forums/boards are supposed to work. You desire everything be a fucking chat room.

By "schizos", I mean the guy who keep spamming registry dumper and similar, people who really don't want to have a discussion other than praising their own things
In ~2020 4chan slang that would be "narcissist" or "psycho" instead of "schizo"

OP I'll give you an actual response. I made a microwave gun out of my Grandparent's old microwave that died after 40+ years of use. Then I used it to show my Uncle he was a retard. He kept going on and on about how RF isn't harmful and doesn't cause cancer. So last Christmas I plugged my homemade microwave gun into the mains and pointed it at him. Then I made him admit he was wrong before I was willing to turn it off.

It burns pretty badly although it isn't anywhere near as impressive as what the military and local PD has.

It was fun project and I did it in an afternoon with crap I had laying around in the garage. Going to build another one soon and hopefully clean up my horrible wiring job and rig up a more handheld unit. I like pointing it at random shit and frying it from across the room.

I also built one of those small usb devices that store power from the port then send it back frying the port and sometimes the entire device (chink shit isn't built that well). It looks like a thumb drive so I sometimes stick it into people's laptops and consoles if they piss me off. Thinking about making a bunch of them and dropping them in random parking lots every time I go to town.

I don't really like being actively destructive but the state of modern society is so depressing and people are so rude that sometimes I like to screw with them. I also built a joystick that plugs into any device over usb. If you hold down a certain button combo it'll make any Windows OS throw BSoD. Didn't even do it on purpose. The drivers that come with Windows are so shit it can't handle the Xbox or Playstation mode or whatever holding down that button forces the PCB into. I even managed to crash an Xbox One with it.

Usbkillers are funny, I remember when there were a media scare about them, since some motherboards were pretty weak against it and would get completely fried
Try not making things too personal, it's more fun when done for giggles
Making a system BSoD by broken hardware input I never thought about it, interesting that someone could really make something malicious if they discover a buffer overflow or something

There's pretty much nothing sexual in lain; neither the anime, nor the visual novel. The topic of suicide comes up, but that's nothing unheard of. Next thing you know trannies will start saying that Dostoevsky or Vonnegut are "transcoded" and you people will fall for that too. This isn't about trannies. It's like kids bickering at school, calling someone a fag for liking sailor moon instead of g.i. joe.

The Brook PCBs for building your own joystick that supports multiple consoles+PC comes like this by default. At least the firmware in the one I bought back in 2017 or so did. If you force Xbox 360 mode (I think) it'll make any Windows machine bluescreen including later versions of the Xbox console.

It has auto detect mode which works fine most of the time. Except for Nintendo's Switch. You have to hold down the A button (I think) for it to detect it correctly.

I know it's that board because I tested it a lot before I wired up two PCBs and a switch to toggle between them. Since the other one works better for Xbox 360 consoles (1ms input lag vs. 5+ms) and that other pcb works for a ton of older stuff. Can't remember what it's called now. Was really popular in the 360 era of Street Fighter tournaments so there used to be a ton of them on the used market.

Ironically, I barely play video games anymore so I got more fun out of building the thing that I did using it.

I'm watching Lain for the first time, and it's reminding me of all those concepts that were talked about around the Internet and technology in the late 1990s. It's making me miss Web 1.0 and 2.0, and resent what we have now. Concepts like cyberspace, cybercultures, the global village. That somewhat naรฏve and deeply pessimisticโ€”yet perhaps accurateโ€”vision of how interconnection and the information age would affect us first as a society, and then individually.

I am using esp-rs/esp-idf-template for my projects and even though it automatically configures everything, I can look into the exact process of compilation and upload which is nice.

good thread

I'll share a little trick like the other guys in this thread

Last summer some native fuck smashed my garage door with a fence post and almost got in. The door know was intact, but the frame was crack good.

I secured the deadbolt latch and reinforced it with steel.

The /g/ part, the best part, is I've armed the door knob with mains electricity. A light comes on so I know if it's armed, and I have a big sign saying "danger, do not enter.".

Haven't caught any natives yet.

Reposting my project from /diy/

Some time ago, someone has showed me a kind of gadget/toy that is an essentially a fast changing led strip that you can wave around to create patterns and do light painting. It was ridiculously expensive though, so I have decided with a friend to make on ourselves since it seemed pretty easy to do.
Today I finished second prototype. It uses ESP32 to drive a led strip that allows for an external clock so it can get much faster than typical addressable strip. For now I'm using bitbanging for testing so it's only 150 fps, but with SPI this should allow for much more detailed patterns, especially if you swing it around on a rope.(I think it should support up to 3000 fps IIRC)
The circuit is quite simple, just the esp board, BMS, stabilizer, capacitors and buttons and leds.
The software is in Rust and supports both generated patterns and raw rgb images.

I mean you can just use the usual ANSI escape codes and it should work on basically every terminal, you don't need to even read the $TERM variable (just check that stdout is a tty)

Wireshark does this, and it has CLI stuff available and libraries to use from other languages

Problem is that some terminals don't have color support for example, while others have support to rgb colors

I don't know much about the network part sadly, you might need to write a python script or find a program that does something similar

Got a Nextbook Next7P tablet from 2011, a 5th generation Fire Tablet from 2015, and a 4th generation iPad from 2012 that I want to try to make all usable.

terminals that don't support the 8/16 basic colors are very very very rare

You may be right, supporting stuff like rgb might be something for the future, or an unnecessary flex
What do you think about unicode?

Nextbook and firetab shouldn't be a problem. What issues are you running into?
4th gen iPad might be unusable.

Nextbook is old and running android 2.3.1. So no internet access. Is surprisingly snappy tho. Also battery is fucked so needs to be plugged in. Firetab is just restricted with fireOS. Think itโ€™s running 5.7.0 or something. The 4th gen iPad I feel I could get some good use if I jailbreak it. Itโ€™s running iOS 10.3.4. Was planning on using the iPad as a e-reader since it had the biggest screen. Only issue is itโ€™s a bit heavy.

Does the Nextbook have a firmware you can sideload that has internet? If not it might be a write your own firmware issue. AOSP 2 had internet if I'm not mistaken. To get around the battery I've used old emergency chargers previously, might fry it or cause a house fire.
FireOS 5.7 is fine, you can flash it to an android version from xda if it won't do what you like. I've bricked a few devices but not to unrecoverable points.
Jailbreaking iOS devices is really hit and miss in my experience. I've had it work a few times and fail most times. Good luck

I'm just a zombie consumer now. I will consume data with playwright, consume UI with react, and use an actual humidifier rather than building a humidity detector

im thinking about getting a devkit for a lumus maximus. it looks like it'd be cool to program some AR experiments with it like being given stats and feedback while playing basketball or guitar.
