It's funny how people complain about Spotify not paying enough when they pay out 70% to the rightsholders (who own the music) while Apple only pays 52%. But Spotify has a free tier that's funded by ads (and 70% of the ad money goes to the rightsholders of course), so the per stream payouts are lower. Spotify also has more subscribers in countries like Brazil where the subscription price is lower.

All the Apple simps only focus on the per stream payouts. This is one of the things that made me understand that facts don't matter. People who love Apple Music love it because it's Apple and they love their Macbook and iPhone so much that they'll lie about which streaming service pays more to the artists.

No and disc rot for music CDs is kind of a meme. It depends on where it was pressed, much like laserdisc and DVD. It's really easy to hold the CD up to the light before you buy one used and see if it has rot or not. If it hasn't started to rot in the last 15-30 years, it probably won't start anytime soon, if ever. The only new CDs made in the last 20 years that had any issues were Rhino discs pressed between '08 and '10 where the data layer flakes off the disc. Even if a few discs do rot, you get what, 25 to 30 years out of a disc minimum? I remember I went through 5 copies of The Black Album on tape in a year rewinding and replaying the second half over and over again.

I love spotify but only on web with and adblocker. I have never paid for it.

The interface is great. It actually works great and the biggest draw for me is the fact that their randomized playlists work amazing.

Youtube music is ugly as sin. Music is low quality but you can play on mobile with an ad blocked browser which is nice. But the playlists are utter shit mixing weird artists and genders.

Spotify started cracking down on cracked clients this year so I moved to YouTube Music Revanced and haven't had to re-patch in almost 4 months, so that's pretty nice.
Though honestly the user experience sucks ass enough that I might go back to Spotify again. Too lazy to update my playlists (and those online tools almost always pull the wrong songs or have stupid limits) which is why I haven't already done it.
Unbelievable you STILL cannot search within playlists despite it being one of the largest complaints over the past several years. I feel like they'd add in crossfade before actually adding that functionality.
