AI being good at programming does not mean we're going to let it access all the DOD and to "see what it can improve" as some would think. even places like google are going to be very carful about what secret sauce they let the AI know, AI could very well decide they suck and it's going to make it own company and put the stupid humans out of business. it isn't as black and white as people think.

I think most confusion about Graphene stems from the fact, that people are confusing security with privacy. Let's assume Graphene is secure. But most people (including me) care about PRIVACY. This means, minimizing your digital footprint. And for this use case, a device like the Graphene phone isn't and can't be the solution, because the data grabbing is happening somewhere else.
