RTX 50 Super specs: 5070 Ti Super 24GB, 5080 Super 24GB, 5070 Super 18GB

>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: worth considering if it's significantly cheaper than the 9070 XT.

>Product Notice
AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor but inconsistent QC.
Bad one causes DisplayHDR setting to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.

Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/update-on-thermal-putty-on-gigabyte-graphics-cards-after-further-storage-oil-separation-to-an-alarming-extent-and-silence-as-a-strategy/

Avoid updating Gigabyte motherboard's RGB controller firmware, as it can disable board features such as Q-Flash Plus.

I've had some comments on bottlenecks before and some things are slow or have gotten slower over time like file transfer and basic web-browsing. I don't really play "old" games, I just mostly play indie stuff and not the latest normalfag shit.
Do you guys recommend upgrading over speccing out a completely new PC? This PC is probably 10 years old at the least so in my head I'm thinking of natural degradation of parts. Am I overworrying? Should I just look for some better ram and a new CPU/GPU?
>>105952642
Nah I'd rather stick with a desktop. I get what you mean though with being limited on what I could grab "cheap". I'll copypaste this list for sure though, thanks.

A while back I was asking about graphics card upgrades and was suggested the following: rtx2060, rx580, 1660ti. Any thoughts on upgrading with one of them?

Need a monitor for graphics design/3d modelling & texturing/photoshop...etc.
I did some research and narrowed it down to LG UltraFine, Dell UltraSharp, and Asus ProArt. There are other brands and models but I don't know much about them (suggestions are welcome)

I've been thinking of getting a 5070 since it's 80$ cheaper than the 9070 in my cunt. I've seen the comparisons and both of them are great except for my doubts that a lot of people complain about nvidia drivers and fake frames whatever. Is this just shill nonsense or is it true?

Ah I see that makes sense, well for me personally I think it would kind of suck to put together a beat down system that's already halfway to the end of it's life.
I think another possibility is to make a frankenstein with your parts combined with new ones and slowly build a nicer system over time. Start with the motherboard and CPU, since those are the beating heart of a system that everything else plugs into. Get a nicer than you normally would consider set of those and then you can use some of your current parts while you save up to get more new parts. It will be much easier to plug in random parts onto your nice motherboard and you won't have to worry about having to tear the whole thing apart when you want to upgrade.

Works on my 5070 Ti machine
I rarely use frame generation though because my 1440p monitor maxes out at 144Hz and I can get more than enough frames out of just DLSS super resolution
Getting a 9070 also means you're locked to FSR4 which (currently) has less support and doesn't match DLSS4

That makes a whole lot of sense. As you can probably guess, I haven't upgraded my computer often. One of the few benefits to being poor was learning computer repair so I can put all this together myself without having to fret. And perform basic maintenance. It's nice having a handheld air compressor to keep the insides clean.

Driver issues aren't as bad as people make them out to be, especially since NVIDIA's been releasing updates almost on a bi-weekly basis.
DLSS isn't perfect, but it's the better upscaler out there.
Frame generation, I'm not fully convinced, but this isn't a deal breaker considering Intel & AMD are also developing their own FG feature.

i have issues with ram re-training on my X670E/7800X3D platform despite having MCR on unless i completely drain all power from the system to ground by pressing the power button with the psu switched off at the back each power cycle. 60 second POST times with warm restart/start, or sometimes 5 mins+, or just hangs indefinitely.

However without fail if I send all the power to ground before restarting, it POSTs and boots in 10 fucking seconds without fail. I suspected windows hybrid sleep to be at fault but it still does the same shit without it on. Maybe it's fast boot idk

>Is this just shill nonsense or is it true?
-The driver issues existed only on reddit.
-DLSS framegen is not comparable to fsr and lossless, and is actually usable when you're gpu limited. MFG I've never even seen it have any more issues than 2x. Even in path tracing the 5070 is fast enough you could/should always be using framegen.
-FSR4 if we're being realistic is probably as good as it's ever going to be.
-9070 is supposed to be $50 cheaper than the 5070
>vram
16gb on AMD is not 16 on Nvidia, you'd be getting more but it's not as much as you would think it is, so if that's genuinely a concern you go to the 5070ti/5090/super cards.

>a lot of people
You need to learn how to observe and distinguish the difference between actual problems and continuous propaganda. If it doesn't repeat enough to become mainstream for such a mainstream product, then it literally isn't a problem. Someone somewhere did something really stupid with their setup and thinks its the driver's fault. This would be different if Nvidia GPUs were a niche product that only reached single-digit-percents of users.

well yeah it wouldnt scale infinitely because at a certain point, the cache will be large enough to contain all the frequently accessed data. and larger caches also have higher latency too which could result in IPC decrease versus a smaller cache part in certain workloads. just going from zen4 non-3d to 3d on amd incurs a 4 cycle L3 latency penalty

Isn't in a bit noteworthy how utterly demented the pc monitor industry has been since the death of the crt. You had japs create blue led diodes and world has been plagued by garbage pixel response times, shit clarity and piss poor contrast ratios since.

You had decades of: tiny increase is pixel response times, incremental increase in display hz, incremental increase in res, followed up by incremental increase in hz at higher res. Contrast remained piss poor the entire time. VA was invented for TV's where the contrast helps movie experience but the pixels change in 40ms so they sucked for gaming.

By 2015 shit contrast 144hz 1440p displays were mainstream. Ok for gaming, shit for enjoying the image quality.
Apple meanwhile went with 50ms response time ips at 60hz so thats something. You had years of apple fans retarding the online discussion with how you couldn't possibly need more than 60hz. The industry was content not innvovating anything.

Samsung brought VA to gamers with g7 240hz in 2020 and for the first time in the history of humanity you could game without horrible ips contrast.
We needed Samsung to create Neo g8 in 2022 to have good HDR experience in pc space without burn in. Minileds were too hard of a problem to others somehow.
All good VA monitors since are using same Samsung tech, neo g7/g8, aoc/ktc/coolermaster VA minileds use samsung patents.

LG invented Woled TV's in 2010 but wasnt interested in monitors, Samsung forced their hand by releasing QD oled monitors. LG wouldnt push for anti-burn in tech and other things that increase the panel longevity otherwise, they couldnt even be fucked to put a metal sheet layer to absorb heat from hotspots while they were dominant.

What about VRR? Nvidia pushed it by inventing gsync. The display makers couldnt give less of a shit. Then they have features like low latency and advanced backlight dimming algorithms.
In short, if you're a pc gamer you owe Everything to Samsung and Nvidia. Others don't care.

There's no support included, it's a gigabyte rx 7600 xt
This is my first time installing a gpu from this decade and was surprised by the weight. Is it normal for something this heavy to just hang by the PCIe?
Mobo manual says large cards need a support so I'm concerned.

>the thinking behind the 6K resolution is so that you can use it at 200% scaling, which results in 3008 x 1692, that turns out to be ~108 PPI, which is almost the same as a 27" at 2560x1440 (108.8 PPI) (but with much better clarity obviously).

I don't understand this

Firstly, windows scaling looks like shit, it makes everything blurry. I don't understand why it's still necessary and MS doesn't just make different sets of UI graphics at different sizes for different resolutions

Secondly, I'm using a 27" 1440p monitor right now, and it's clarify/pixel density is kinda bad. It's less crisp looking then my 17.3.in laptops that are 1080.

That said I only just started to use 1440p displays and windows scaling for shit after previously exclusively using 1080p displayd, so I could easily just be doing something wrong, DESU I hope I do because I've been very disappointed and frustrated with my new setup as a result

Dont buy anything below 5060 level.
Buying the best cpu you can afford can make sense, but you also need other parts for the system to function.
9600x makes sense as the budget cpu today. You can upgrade it to 10800x3d later.

General survey: Is it worth going for a 4K display (32") or not?

https://strawpoll.com/PKglejrmpZp

I'm usually content with 1080p (24") and I know it's a dumb question to ask, but just curious to know what's the general consensus here. Totally subjective, would like to hear others' thoughts. Add a reply to whatever you're currently posting, it's free.

The poll is a bit pointless since it 100% relies on your use case and pc.
If you buy 5070 ti and use it for gaming you can, but oled 4k's cost a lot and you lose a lot money to get that 4k oled gaming experience. And whats the point of 4k if its not oled.

Productivity uses can go for 5k, 6k monitors since who cares, more ppi.
1440p makes sense for 90% of gamers who dont spend 1k โ‚ฌ on a gpu.

Yes it will, it's literally a different socket if it's AM6 and not AM5, so clearly it will require a new motherboard. I expect AM6 to only come when we begin moving over to DDR6, just like AM5 was introduced with DDR5 support since the older AM4 only had DDR4.

I'm having second thoughts about buying the Gigabyte 9070 GPU I picked out for my build after hearing about the issues that some cards have with their thermal paste in a previous thread.

I was thinking of changing my choice from this card: https://www.newegg.ca/gigabyte-gv-r9070gaming-oc-16gd-radeon-rx-9070-16gb-graphics-card-triple-fans/p/N82E16814932752

To this Sapphire 9070 XT: https://www.newegg.ca/sapphire-tech-pulse-11348-03-20g-radeon-rx-9070-xt-16gb-graphics-card-triple-fans/p/N82E16814202450

You guys think that's a fine alternative? Originally I chose to go with a 9070 for the lower power consumption, but since all the other 9070s on the market are at XT prices, I feel like I should just get an XT at this point.

It matters because I've never been able to upgrade and I finally have a good enough job that I can afford to do it. I wanted to build the computer of my dreams but I'm afraid I'll be let down if I do and then something way better comes out just a little bit after.
I wasn't going to build it until the end of the year or early next year anyways. Guess I'll just wait and see if there is any more solid news by then.

Like I said if your "just a little bit after" is defined as 2 whole fucking years, then something new will ALWAYS be out "just a little bit after" no matter when you buy. AM6 isn't going to come out in the next 2 weeks. There's going to be at least 1 more CPU gen on AM5, it's much too early to think about AM6.

That being said, if you wait until late this year or early 2026, said CPU gen might be right around the corner and it would probably be a bad time to buy Ryzen 9000 series with the new shit just about to come out.

Anon who was asking about monitors

I got the Asus ROG XG27ACS after advice here (thankful for the help anons)
It's good. Honestly idk what I expected, but I kind of thought it'd be miles ahead of other screens I've used but it isn't really.
I've never had a good monitor and I've been using some no name brand portable monitors a while and thought it'd be a substantial upgrade. Maybe the portable monitors are just better than I thought but it's kinda comparable.

Anyway, if I was wanting to go the next step up in Monitors from the Asus, where would I be looking? Minileds? Are all minileds at budget prices $200-$300 just going to be shit or are there some that will work well with consoles and PC?

That's not particularly crazy, the graphics card is probably blowing hot air straight on the thing. The truth is that the typical PC form factor wasn't designed to provide much cooling for things which mount like modern NVMe drives. The CPU gets its own cooler and air is supposed to blow on the cards to some degree, which come with their own cooling if they need extra (and boy, do they). For things which are basically stuck glued to the motherboard, underneath other cards there's just not much airflow.

No modern, solid-state electronics are going to get fucked by 52C, it's entirely fine. If it was in the 70s, 80s or beyond you might need to worry but as it is, it's far from a problem.

Both 1TB

As far as I've read, MAP1602 is more efficient for direct writing to NAND, but at the same time it's hot and a bit less reliable than Phison?

I was just told the oppositeโ€”that Phison is hotter than MAP1602; it's [MAP1602] actually the coldest controller, that's why it's extremely popular.

I just don't care about these speedsโ€”it's only for games and software, and it will be installed in the slot under the GPU, where you can't put a big heatsink, so it's better if it's cooler.

I posted a few days ago about looking for a PC for Blender/graphic design/creative work in general and put this together, how does this look? Is there anything glaringly wrong with it? Specifically in Blender I mostly do abstract motion design-y work that usually has particle and fluid simulations with procedural materials.
The CPU/motherboard/RAM comes in a bundle from Microcenter, where I'll be getting most of the parts and the rest from Amazon or wherever is cheapest online. Microcenter also has the 5060 TI at $480 right now. That way it comes out to a little bit under $1600 USD which I'd love to make a little cheaper if possible but it isn't the end of the world if not.
For reference I'm currently rocking an RTX 2070 and Ryzen 5 3600 build that I built up five ish years ago and I'd like this to feel like a pretty big upgrade that'll feel capable for a similar amount of time. Got a new job a few months ago and this'll be my first big celebratory purchase :)

The 4K IPS one (M27P6) doesn't sustain the 900-nit full screen brightness for 30 minutes that is required for the Display HDR 1400 spec; it drops down to around 600 nits after 10 minutes or so.
Not a deal breaker for me, but you wonder if other features are also running out of spec.
There's also some color & HDR adjustments you need to make, but this is expected for a monitor at this price range.

I also wouldn't hope for display firmware updates, even if the monitor includes a USB port.
The official English language download page redirects to the manual/instructions for their monitors.
https://en.ktcplay.com/download/

Do your research, and use Amazon's return period to test out the product to understand its capabilities & limitations.
There's no perfect monitor on the market; you need to settle with one that's good enough for you.

day 3
it's not going to be delivered today even though it says out for delivery
i figured out what these stupid niggers are doing though. they don't want to deliver a 20 pound package, so they scan the package (this makes its say out for delivery) but they don't actually load it onto the truck for the day. at 8pm it will change to delayed and then someone else will have to try and deliver it the next day. this creates a loop that will continue happening until fedex sends the package back to the shipper or until some faggot working at fedex decides to actually do their job properly.

i'm going to make sure i NEVER buy from anyone using fedex as their only shipper though. i genuinely don't know how they're still in business.

>buy $20 of parts from Digikey
>choose fedex thinking it shouldn't matter
>package became out for delivery
>not delivered due to "weather"
>goes back to the distribution center
>out for delivery the next day
>not delivered that day due to "weather"
>repeat for 3 more days
>tell them to hold at Walgreens
>supposedly delivered to Walgreens for pickup
>Lady at Walgreens says zero packages came in that day
>contact digikey and they immediately resend the order with UPS
>UPS delivers a day early

At this point I hope that every single package I get sent from FedEx gets fucked in some way. Companies aren't going to stop picking the cheapest option unless it stops being the cheapest option from refunds and reorders

Microcenter seems to ONLY build stores in high sales tax areas. I used to live in delaware (0% sales tax) and they put the fucking store north of philly where sales tax was retarded. 1. Like others I think you are both stupid and insane to be spending that amount of money on a ricer-white out build but if you are committing to that route then I'd do the following:

2. Spend the extra $70 and swap out that RAM kit for this proper DDR5-6000Cl30 kit instead:
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/wQVfrH/gskill-ripjaws-m5-neo-rgb-96-gb-2-x-48-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-f5-6000j3036f48gx2-rm5nrw

3. If your build is gonna be based around a dual-chamber case, might as well go for Lian Li's L-Shaped PSU that will let you hide the cables better:
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/WX4Zxr/lian-li-edge-1000-w-80-platinum-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-eg1000-white
https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/power-supplies/lian-li-edge-gold-eg1000g-atx-3-1-psu-review
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gllm7OyHiSQ

Or Corsair's RMx Shift Series that points the connectors facing the motherboard-side panel again for easier hiding:
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/kDvD4D/corsair-rm1000x-shift-1000-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-side-interface-atx-power-supply-cp-9020275-na
https://hwbusters.com/psus/corsair-rm1000x-shift-psu-review-they-shifted-the-modular-panel/

4. PCIe 5.0 NVME is waste of money for client usage (you're not running a database server here) instead, save yourself $65 for a 2TB PCIe 4.0 drive that comes with a nice white heatsink to match your build over that black/yellow model:

Neighbor wants me to build him a system around the i9 13900K, which he has already purchased. He intends to use it for CAD or some type of architecture design software.
He may want to get a 2TB SN850X and I'll talk to him about maybe spending a little extra on a 5060 Ti 16GB (which would probably call for a different PSU as well).

>You are blind
I'm not, I clearly said it's a difference, but the difference is not THAT insane, atleast in the selected game I had
it's like when you are viewing a video on your phone but you select a higher res setting and it activates and "pops in" with the new res, it's a slight bump, but it's not crazy
all other elements that are non 3d are very evident with the lower smoothness however, the 3d render world? a bit less detail

>sitting too far away
sitting very close, there where my idea of 4k not being fully realized at 32" come from, maybe going bigger would be better to realize all the detail

>1080p on 32 inch ppi is awful.
it's 1080p on 140ppi, it's not on 1080p on 68ppi
a native 4k panel renders 1080p better than a native 1080p panel
1080p on 4k 32" is way better than 1080p on 24-25", you can clearly see pixels on 24-25" 1080p distance, ppi might not be a meme after all, but the added resolution and rendering at a higher detail in game is not that serious, I guess it would be way more serious at larger size though, harder and harder to see in a smaller screen

Sounds reasonable. Depends on how many projects he needs quick access to I suppose.

>spending a little extra on a 5060 Ti 16GB
You should check if his software suite uses GPU acceleration (or if he games). If it's no to both then he could get away with the IGP alone.

>which would probably call for a different PSU as well

I upgraded and rebuilt an old prebuilt I had a while ago, exchanged the PSU, mobo, GPU and case. So far so good, performance is markedly better and all BUT. Now despite the performance increase there is an almost ever present stutter or frametime issues, as if something is out of synch or something, making some games quite uncomfortable. FPS are good, CPU and GPU useage don't go beyond 50-60%. Turning off and on vsynch either ingame or in the novidia control panel does not seem to help either. It tends to be most obvious when moving the mouse and looking around. Any ideas?

Depends on what your usage case is. The 6K monitor will look extra sharp for text and be better for editing fullscaled 4K content with tools/GUI around it. But you want more physical real estate I'd get 2x27" 4K monitors instead.

GPU not hitting near-100% in game may not be a good thing as the GPU isn't running with all it has to give. As suggested try uninstalling all GPU drivers via DDU then reinstalling them. Also does viewing this webpage lock to your monitor's supposed-to-be refresh rate and give smooth animation?

It's fine for a 24" panel, but at that size you want 1440p or higher to avoid huge pixels and the screen door effect.

If you play E-Sports that can get super-high FPS to take advantage of 240Hz+ then this 24" 400 Hz IPS is actually a little cheaper:
https://www.newegg.com/p/3D4-007C-00033?item=9SIBK6TKEM6630

Or for about the same price you can get a larger 27" 1440p 240Hz panel that is a more all-purpose display:

Thank you so much, that's very helpful. Going to check all those.
I've been trying to do research, just had a little trouble since I don't know much to weed out the bullshit from the reality. Like I've seen RTings do in depths reviews but they don't seem to cover the brands like KTC and Koorui as much which makes it difficult.
I can't afford the 4k one, like you say some of the chinese brandsseem to get no support.

The weird thing is I'm not really fussy about monitors, I've literally never had a good one until this Asus. But I just don't get why it has some of its drawbacks like washed out HDR. Makes me wonder if a miniled will blow my socks off in comparison. I wanna use Amazon's return but I've got a voucher for some money off, like $100 but I don't get it back if I use it and return ;_;

I've seen the AOC Q27G3XMN, the Koorui G10 and the KTC M27T6. I think that's about it for Miniled at this price range, just trying to decide what's best. It sucks they all lack PS5 VRR which my Asus does do. But then it's things like that, blooming, ghosting etc where I don't really know what difference they make caue I've never had good screens or even paid much attention to them.
I uniornically still use a plasma tv.

I wouldn't pay $330 for a 1440p@240Hz panel right now in mid-2025 when there are several models with identical specs for less, see here:

Can you save up an extra $100 between now and Black Friday?
Last BF they had this 1440p QD-OLED for $400 and it was $450 during Amazon Prime Day (now up to $485):
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D682HF6R
It should probably go back down to $400 in November and wouldn't surprise me if they discount it or another OLED monitor into the $3XX range to clear stock for newer higher refresh-rate models next year. OLED is really your only non-sidegrade option from your current Asus LCD for perfect contrast, viewing angles, colors, and motion performance.

Nah I'm already way over budget is the problem. Bought a dew other things lately too so need to reign it in unfortunately. I'm also a bong so no best buy and my amazon voucher literally expires tomorrow kek
I get what you're saying though, thanks. I wonder if panel wise the miniled will wow me in a way the Asus didn't. And then from there, if the tradeoffs are worth it.

I'm leaning on the KTC and comparing them and then if it's shit just accept I wasted a ยฃ100 voucher. hurts though. Wonder ithere are other minileds at the price range that maybe have VRR or 2.1 HDMI. Couldn't find them bessides the AOC and Koorui

Good evening.
Currently using a router from my ISP which broke completely, done all kinds of troubleshooting. Literally whichever card is cheapest (and consider other OEMs besides MSI if they have a model on sale).
If a few are the same price or within $20-30 either get the Gaming Trio or better yet the Vanguard. Ignore the OC models if they're more expensive as that's throwing money at something you can do with a slider in free software in 10 seconds.
https://us-store.msi.com/RTX-5070Ti
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/pny-geforce-rtx-5070-ti-epic-x-rgb-plus-oc/40.html
Really it's absurd to have 8 different SKUs based around the same GPU, surely MSI and other GPU vendors could save money on product management/logistics if they just had the 1 or 2 cards at every level.

Getting cool air into the case is only half the battle. When all your components are packed up against each other like a passengers on a Japanese subway the cool air doesn't have much space to circulate in between them. Moreover, also like being a cramped subway/elevator each of the heat-outputting components being so close together causes cross-radiant heading in a kind of insulation effect.

The 3080 is basically equivalent to a vanilla 5070 -14% and 2GB of VRAM so you're not missing much. I'd say think about it probably during Black Friday sales of the SUPER refresh cards next November or just hold for the 60 series.

If I never want to close Chrome or any open tabs again before I die how much performance difference is there between these two kits ( 15.385 ns vs 10 ns first word latency):

if you even have to ask, you're too tech-illiterate to be paypigging for Njudean gpus at that level. Just get a nice 5080 to sodomise yourself with goy and save a few grand.

No idea about the 5090s, but I have a Zotac 3080 Ti and while it has been working reliably for like 3-4 years now, it's not a particularly great cards. Going by the undervolting results I got I think the GPU is on the bad side and the cooling isn't great either, it's not super effective and if you want to keep the temps in check it gets pretty loud.

For comparison I have a 4090 and it runs cooler AND quieter both, despite using more power than the Zotac 3080 Ti.

the entire 3k series by Njudea was poorly designed, you should have attached additional heatsinks on top of the gpu panel to vrm components that aren't being cooled properly, to add a bit of longevity to your gpu. Theres old crypto-mining threads and articles that explain where to put them on 3090s or 3080s.

do you actually need more?
just connect all your periphery in the back
i have pretty decent cable management at the desk, so i basically use frontal case usbs for sticks

surely you can exceed it if you use wired peripherals, being at the front essentially extends the cables reach for some arrangements. Then if theres free slots you can conveniently stick whatever usb you want without starting to remove other ones. Maybe they increase the clarity of wireless connection if theres no metal case blocking it to your thingies when its in the back.

its just that the physical requirements of 2 extra usbs are so cheap it doesnt make sense to limit it.
they use a single cable to transmit 4 ports vs 2 to the connection in the mobo

how much do you figure the 4 usba A port pcb costs vs 2, they might save an euro or two?

Anyone got any thoughts on Cooler Master as a brand for PC Monitors?

I've seen Cooler Master Tempest GP27Q, it's an IPS mini led for around the same price as all these. Seems promising but the amazon reviews all say the QA is dogshit.

Also how bad are VA Panels for ghosting and response time compared to IPS? I've never had a VA Panel. Is it noticeable for a pleb like me or one of those where you only notice if you're deep into it? I do play some fast paced shooters

No, in fact, it looks less crisp then my 1080p laptops do, which makes sense given that the pixel density works out to being less then 1080p laptops.

IPS miniled with small amount of zones makes very little sense, the ips has poor contrast ratio and the blooming is more noticeable than on VA. CM had a lot of firmware issues when they released their first minileds which was lame.

There is more black smear on VA, the KTC M27T6 is the current widely available recommended miniled but it loses in clarity to stuff like samsung g7 240hz va from 2020.

If you want something better than ktc you need to pay 2x for oled.

Something worth considering if he doesn't want to bite the bullet for OLED would be the Dell U2724D using the newer IPS Black panel which gets ~2300:1 native contrast vs ~1000:1 typical of regular IPS & w/o using MiniLEDs so no blooming but also without the smearing of cheap VAs:
