I don’t wanna shill but Justin Sung. I just had my first week where I actually spent the time doing what I planned on doing. Also look into dopamine loading or whatever it’s called. Basically you start the day by being productive instead of scrolling on your phone. You can do whatever you want like porn or doomscrolling at the end of the day but only free you were productive.

The actual biggest tip I can give you is change your environment so distractions don’t happen. There’s too much info to put into one post but it f you actually want to change please just look this stuff up
Anonymous No.105952947 >>105953109
honestly unless it's forcing you to pay attention and in turn training attention nothing will work. Maybe an app that slowly decreases the amount of distractions, gradually whittling down your inattention. Switching to activities that require longer time investment could help as well. I don't think attention span is the issue, discipline is.

Commit to playing an exceedingly boring game, such as a generic JRPG with turn based battles and high encounter rates. You will condition your brain to be ok with being bored and maybe even find the limited stimulus "fun" after a while.

Use case for e-readers when I have a phone, laptop, and tablet already? I haven't leisurely read any books from front to back they weren't academic material (ie college textbooks) in YEARS because let's be honest I'm a lazy bastard that has a very narrow pallet when it comes to what catches my attention. Are e-readers good at getting people back into reading for some reason?

I like stories.
Think of a book like a movie you haven't seen yet. You want to read it because it's exiciting.
Go to your local library and pick up a book. I'd recommend Terry Pratchet but everyone has their own tastes.

>dopamine loading
THISSSSSSSSSS THIS THIS THIS THIS

this is the only thing that will save you.

dopamine is a RESOURCE. like an ORANGE or LEMON that you squeeze. It gets RELOADED when you wake up.

If you start the day with tiktok you are squeezing the lemon extra hard and all the juice comes out. YES "boring" tasks will give you a little juice but your brain is used to getting a lot of juice so the "boring" task comparatively feels like TORTURE.

However, if you start the day doing only "boring" tasks and your brain is only used to the small squeeze of dopamine from doing mundane work, then it doesnt feel like TORTURE it feels BEARABLE.

NEVER. EVER. USE. DOPAMINE SQUEEZERS unless you are prepared to NEVER do boring work for the rest of the day. it will FUCK up your entire day if you squeeze dopamine really hard and then try to do "boring" tasks.

Not that anon, they are for ADHD people.
The fact that you say you have a phone first, and a tablet show that you're the exact type of person to have more than a single notification per week and likely your phone never goes more than 72 hours turned off.

Ultimately, it's only useful if you also know how to minimise other distractions and set aside time for reading and reading with intent.
Meditation and note taking when reading are more beneficial to recapturing you attention span assuming you have the smarts to at least shut down your computer and phone while you do so.

I read the first Harry Bosch title "The Black Echo" in one sitting, well two sittings, when the romance with Eleanor happened I was aware that Sarah Clarke played her in the TV series and so I turned the book over, looked up some young pictures of her from the 24 era when she was Nina Myers and had a cheeky wank, I then washed my hands, sat back down and continued reading. I also went for a piss after an action scene, so 2.5 sittings?

Apple devices have built-in parental control called “Screen time” that works perfectly. There is no equivalent in android, windows, and linux.
You block websites and apps in there. And ask your roommate, friend, family to set the password.
