Fedora 42 vs Ubuntu 25.04
So which way now? I'm not spending a single second worrying about malware on Arch anymore. Could be 24.04 as well, I just had a pretty decent experience with 25.04 a while ago, never really tried Fedora.

I'm the one person here who likes stock gnome, so I vote for fedora.

Ubuntu if you like gnome and don't need latest versions of software. Other desktop variants on Ubuntu are buggy.

At this point just install windows.

have you figured out which disorder is responsible for your black and white thinking?
Anonymous No.105957497 [Report]
i really want to like gnome but not being able to sort the apps list without having to install something makes me think again. also can't center active windows with a keyboard shortcut.

>Fedora 42
you are never, ever, ever getting laid, ever
>Ubuntu 25.04
you will get laid by an obese 33 year old single mother
given the choices I'd pick fedora
Anonymous No.105957545 [Report]
im not sure why anyone would choose ubuntu over fedora for desktop use
Anonymous No.105957709 [Report] >>105957836
>>105957292
Any reason for that? I've mostly stuck to Ubuntu and Arch, curious what Fedora is like, never really got into it.

-relatively new to linux, still trying out different distros (used fedora and manjaro on my PC and a lot more on VMs)
-easier to customize
-their cool gnome
-matured availability of stuff to download, ie on fedora when i wanted a tty-clock i have to build it and shit and its just too muhc work for a shitty terminal clone while on ubuntu its sudo apt install tty-clock and its working
-apparently better battery optimization on laptops which is what id like

not sure what else really, its a mature distro and i see people constantly praising it for being a great dev environment

Yeah that sounds about right, aside from the easier to customize part. It's not really any different from vanilla GNOME distros, I'd just say it looks really nice out of the box with the Yaru theming.

its pretty meaningless but what i dislake about ubuntu is the lockscreen lol, fedora looks very clean with its bold serif font while ubuntu has its default one, i know it can be customized but still

Where's the consecutio?
Anonymous No.105958205 [Report] >>105958583

It's probably just a coincidence that corporate-backed distros happen to have better package vetting. Feel free to recommend a different distro.

If you would have been fooled by the infected aur packages then you will be fooled regardless of distro or os you choose. I say go for a MacBook so you make them look worse when you inevitably fuck your system up and cry about it.

>fooled regardless of distro
I don't have to read PKGBUILDs to not get malware in most distros.

I didn't. I shouldn't have to worry about that in an OS however. I understand you guys like and defend your toys, though.

He spend years putting in the grind figuring out how to get that Linux system to do the basic shit you take for granted on Windows and Mac
You need to show him some fucking respect

AUR is like downloading an exe from the internet
Saars could just as easily give malicious deb or rpm files, and catch a lot of morons like the OP
