It causes too many issues that windows didn't have and I don't want to use windows either, especially with the obscure video games I like to play

Linux is still good if you learn it and know exactly what to install and how to install it.

XP was the end of an era.
The last reasonably free Windows.
It's over.

The obvious solution is linux except I don't really have the time to learn to use it so i'll just complain about it a lot while using it

Its a fundamental law of nature that modern software can never be good.

The laws of modern computing:
1. it must only get worse.
2. all that is good must be destroyed.

Technically true, but also not quite. XP is just the beta version of windows 2003.

I don't understand why Microsoft doesn't release a version for "advanced users" or whatever. Where it's up to me if I want all their bloat and crap running in the background.

Most of its parts don't quite fit together well at all and because devs can't agree on what should do what, in the end a lot of things that you'd expect to be done by default just don't happen.

Fragmented, unreliable, attacked on all sides from outside and within. Not supported by Adobe, which means there's a lobby making sure Linux stays a second class citizen. Linux users would be paying users in a greater proportion than Windows users, and they are starved for this kind of software. Which means the only reason they don't support Linux is because it would be disastrous for Microsoft.

Because all that crap is precisely why they allow you to run Windows on "your" computer.

I got given a Mac from work. For software development it's pretty much the same, except the keymaps are all fucked up. But how people can use the finder is beyond me it's utter horseshit.
