When I experimented with joycaption a few weeks ago doing a workflow that did illustrious -> flux img2img, I found the phraseology in joycaption to be very repetitive. It tended to make very similar comments in every image. Stuff in your caption like "evokes a sense of wonder" and "otherworldliness" and "commanding presence" and "touch of beauty" I remember seeing over and over. That may partially reflect the kind of fantasy-themed images I mostly make. If a model were trained on its outputs I think you would really need to imitate the joycaption style to get the most out of it.

yes, but it's not genius level like an LLM. t5xxl isn't overly strict and can generally work around grammar and spelling. specifying a known concept spelled correctly has a bigger effect, though (eg- misspelling floor as 'foor' will force it to infer from context whether you meant four, door, foot, etc, which could lead to unstable results).
this is separate from the text encoder being able to parse an input but the model not being able to do anything with the output. if the model doesn't know something, it doesn't matter how you spell it. you can still prompt around the concept to see if you can bring out any latent understanding.

Some of my gens using the wan2.1 nsfw model come out creepy. I know the creator is a pedophile and I'm kind of worried about what he tuned it with.

Newbie here, I bought an nvidia memepooter (jetson orin nano) to try genning, and also to familiarize myself with linux and minicomputers in general, and arm64 hardware while we're at it.

I dont expect much from it, but still more than my old laptop from 11 years ago that I still use for everything else.

I was able to work through a comfyui tutorial for linux and I got it to "work". I'm not sure, since I was able to get an image out from prompt, but not an img-2-img, which I think resulted in a crash. I checked the console and it made me wonder if I'm even using CUDA at all, or it failed to hook up. Specifically the lines:

Some people are talking about memory junction, some people are talking about GPU temp on the core. Hotspot should be within 12c of core. Any more and you have thermal paste pump out on the die. Memory junction should be below at least 100c but is fine until 110.

Does anyone know if these things just can't be tested for? If you ebay something it can be returned if its defective and not as advertised. If you stress test the card youll find memory errors or see that it runs hot because thermal pads are shot, or fan bearings are degraded from long runtimes at 100%. If your graphics card has none of these issues the risk of keeping it seems dubious.

Also its not like mining is instantly damaging. It's often done in open air where even nigger tier ventilation with fans its desireable to stop thermal throttling. Most importantly it's heating up and cooling down that stresses components, keeping a consistent temperature even if its high won't do as much damage. And if the card wasn't run long enough to ruin the thermal pads it probably stayed in a safe temperature. If that happened, again, you would be able to test for it. Could mining cards be out there that seem fine but will shit the bed tomorrow? Are they more common per capita than normal video cards? Who knows.

memory junction is just an issue for the 3090 and ti I think. They put the memory chips on the back and it's just cooled by the aluminum backplate with no heatsink, but it varies by manufacturer partner. Even worse is 4 memory chips can be on a small island of the backplate with little thermal bridge, right next to the exhaust of the hottest part of the GPU. They say these are built to handle 105 degrees or more but why take a chance with how prices are. I went looking for the biggest cpu cooler that would cover all the chips and it fits inbetween my video card and cpu cooling tower. Getting airflow to it was annoying though.
