Hey guys, I have just installed [custom rom] on my phone. Now I can use Facebook, NewPipe, ChatGPT, McDonaldsApp, Reddit, 4chan and basically everything completely anonymous. Nobody can track and profile me now! Oh, and I also use a VPN with a no log policy and I totally trust them for no reason. I have won the privacy game.

Same here OP, I installed custom rom now Google Maps is SOO much easier to use, same with Naver! I love how accurate uber and uber eats app is now(even if it crashes way more now). Also using Brave(because I am Brave enough to use Brave) is smooth for browsing my amazon account. My bank app doesn't allow me to use my phone but that's okay I can still use firefox mobile to own the tracker chuds.

Sure it takes me 5 extra steps but at least I am not trackable and if TSA ever wanted my phone? kek good luck.

but when you log into your profile... are you sure they will not know who you are?

Privacy's not the point of installing a custom rom. It's to lessen the amount of redudant stuff draining the battery dry, to get root outb to do shit like full backups, game piracy and running a firewall via terminal to block ads on a dns lvl everywhere in all apps easier.

Anon, this is the entire joke! And yes, even if you use NewPipe, Youtube is still tracking you. Unless you use VPN which hopefully doesn't keep logs. But since Youtube blocks VPNs it doesn't matter anyway.

Is this the custom rom red pill?

Cool, I'm using OsmAnd.

Sadly it's the only thing that can make that place somewhat cheap. 2:1 or buy one get one for a dollar, is worth having the app

Fucking based.
That app has completely changed the game for me. Can't live without an offline maps app again.
F-droid even has free Pro version.

nice personal blog post. now all your contacts on social media have to do the same thing, since information about you can be gathered from people close to you such as (but not limited to) images, common interests, chat logs stored on their devices.

Ok, let me explain this joke:

If your goal is privacy and you use a custom rom on your device, you will still get no improvement, if you continue using basically all internet based services.

How does that compare to Organic Maps?
Anonymous No.105973294 [Report] >>105973430 >>105974295
>>105973242
They both use OSM for map data, so map-wise it's the same.
They do, however, differ quite a bit in terms of tools.

If Organic Maps is a Japanese steel knife, OsmAnd is a Leatherman with a torch strapped onto it.
One is sleek and easy to use, while the other is convoluted yet much more versatile.

If you come straight from Organic Maps, you may have to watch a few YouTube videos to get accustomed to OsmAnd. But once you dial it in, it can become your new best friend.

Sounds like it's not very useful for my case as I rarely even go outside let alone needing GPS. I'll still try it out of curiousity though, thanks!

Yeah it's definitely not for everyone.
I got introduced to it, because I was going on a trip a year ago, where I wanted to do some hikes in the mountains.
Because of this, I needed an app with offline support, where I could also import routes and waypoints (for Geocaches).

I spent half a year planning routes on bikerouter.de, and generating GPX files with waypoints for caches.
Everything worked wonderfully, but since I'm a fat lazy bastard, I ended up not going on any of the hikes anyways.

If you plan to try out OsmAnd, you should download the version from F-Droid (OsmAnd~), which is the Pro version.
Afterwards I'd suggest these two videos, which gives you a pretty decent idea of how it works.
