Normally I wouldn't look twice at a laptop made in 2011 let alone use one. But there's something about this HP Elitebook 8760w. I can't let it go.
Why is it so tasteful, anon? Every inch of this device screams top quality.

Most surfaces are brushed metal. Hinge area is sturdy aluminum with a tasteful orange text. The bottom half of the laptop is wider than the top half, and this asymmetry gives this powerhouse an almost aggressive look for some reason. The HP logo lights up. I could go on and on about this laptop and I can't say the same about anything built after 2020.

What's wild is that this old HP outperforms many of today's models.

>Intel Core i7 cant remember exact model
>16 GB RAM (DDR3, takes up to 32 GB)
>NVIDIA Quadro 3000M 2 GB GDDR5
>250 GB SSD + 500 GB HDD

Get any 500 euro laptop from the supermarket and it will have an integrated GPU and 8 gigabytes of RAM

these had the shittiest displays ever
also screens picked up a yellow tint after few years usage.
i like the outside design too but this, coupled with a screeching loud fan, coupled with a hdd enclosure that made the drive cook itself, was absolutely horrible.

Those where always cool. Orange clit is also kino.
Only thing that didn't age quite well is brushed look, should have been textureless.

i've used a few different elitebook models at work and they're all flimsy trash

thoughebit i had a 2760p (picrel) and it was underpowered and loud and kinda heavy but the full swivel touchscreen display was a cute feature. if only the laptop was maybe 3/4 the size, it would have been perfect as a portable workhorse. but i spilled shit on it once so now it's dead and sitting in a milk crate somewhere

I used cheap nx6110 back in the day and build quality was very good and I also liked design fore cheapo laptop.
But like with all older laptops from that era you'll have to retighten all the screws especially hinge ones from time to time.
Also fuck that screen looks so nice today....

can't be so called "desktop replacement" with no numpad.
can't really work on numpad-less laptop tho it seems IT kids can do without both mouse and numpad these days.

These are the only acceptable answers in this thread. OP is a massive faggot.

The chiclet keys and non-7-row keyboard instantly disqualify all these other devices as even remotely good.

I put my money where my mouth is, pic related is the most up-to-date device that is still made for working. It's a superb device, but the sad part of it is that it only exists thanks to a group of fanboys in China actually designing a replacement mainboard.
No companies make anything portable that's worthwhile, not even the Framework people with their modular laptop want to offer a keyboard with trackpoint and 7-row layout.

I have that Elitebook and the display is awesome.
Full HD, deep colors, anti glare... that's more than you'd get in a much more modern Thinkpad.
I had a 2016 Thinkpad and the resolution was shit and the colors were all gray and blue. Hated that peice of shit.

Come on man. Your Thinkpad's only advantage over the Elitebook is portability. You wouldn't even want to enjoy a movie on a 13" screen.
My laptop rarely leaves the house so portability is not an argument for me. And if it fits in my backpack that's all that matters, I don't care about the weight if it gives me a discrete GPU, swappable parts and military grade shock absorption.

I always liked the lit up top row with dedicated volume and wifi buttons. Looked pretty sleek.

That's what you have a TV for. Why would I watch a movie on the go?

>Your Thinkpad's only advantage over the Elitebook is portability.
I listed why I dislike it and most other laptops. There are plenty of lighter laptops than my X2100, but they're all shit in terms of keyboard/mouse.

Regardless of that, heavy laptops are pointless, just get a desktop at that point.

Nice, I picked up a HP Elitebook 8460p from a thrift shop for $10 in 2023. It had a 500GB hdd and only 4GB of ram, so I upgraded it to 16GB of ram and a 512GB ssd. It works very well.

Fantastic screen on it.

Mixed bag, EliteBooks could be configured with what HP was calling Dreamcolor or something, which were just high brightness IPS panels and were fairly good for the time, or they used the most dogshit TN panels which were absolutely hideous. Workstation models that ended with w were more likely to have the higher tier panels.
