You aren't really meant to be using a gaming laptop on battery. Always needs to be plugged into the wall, otherwise you won't really get the performance of it. If you want to use it as a laptop to move around with, it's a bad idea. These things are notoriously fragile and one simple slip and there goes your 800 bucks machine.

Not at all. They take in much less per fan, since it's not on the bottom sat in a bed. But more importantly, desktops don't get clogged like laptops do since they're bigger, and the dust won't matter much since desktops have much more cooling headroom.

People have to travel to other corporate campuses, often for weeks at a time staying in hotels. This is when you want a gaming laptop, unless you're an alcoholic and want to go to a bar everynight.

No. I also got when when i was in college. The fans were annoyingly loud and made a high pitch noise. And the touchpad was low quality and would lose tracking all the time. It's the most annoying laptop i ever owned.
Honestly if you can afford it just go for desktop + low powered laptop, that's the best combination on my opinion.
